Hmm...no thanks.

What's going on in this thread?

Dragonlance! Dragonlance is going on in this thread! I needed a medieval campaign setting, and Dragonlance was dirt cheap, so I decided to buy it. I got something worth far, far, far more than I paid. Dragonlance is totally awesome!

You obviously know nothing of Kender... Dragonlance is awesome until you find out about the Kender.

I do know about Kender. They can be glossed over or ignored altogether. Dragonlance remains totally awesome.

Liberty's Edge

Dragonlance has never been awesome

because MEH

WHAT?!

Liberty's Edge

it's a baby setting for babies

says the youngest guy in the thread

Mama Kelsey, it's true.

That doesn't mean there's anything wrong with it, though.

I particularly liked the Galen books by Michael Williams. You guys ever read those?

Liberty's Edge

Dragonlance is tolerable, but the whole magic system always threw me. And gully dwarves and kender are ridiculous.

I guess the books were popular?

Feh. Dragonlance is delicious.

Liberty's Edge

I see a few people are changing their avatars.

Laaaaaaaame.

If you are offering to run a DragonLance play-by-post, Mama Kelset, I would like to play a goblin Knight of Solamnia. Named Sir Mantis.

And Bupu was hawt!!

No PbP. Not enough internet time. I'm doing this one face to face.

Movies, movies, movies!

I think I already posted a Freaks link up above. Y'know what? That movie isn't very good, but it's only an hour long. Probably worth watching for historical value, but, as a film, I'd give it a D.

Kick-Ass. Well, I thought I was going to hate this movie (not a Nicholas Cage fan), but it was alright. Kind of cried when Hit Girl killed all of those innocent dudes sitting around the crackhouse, though. Plus, Joan Jett's "Bad Reputation" and the Dickies' "Banana Splitz"! B+

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. This was pretty cool. I didn't mind the Heath Ledger being swapped out for other actors thing per se, but I got the feeling that maybe there was a bit of a rush job going on here re: the story. But the visuals, woah. Tom Waits was pretty good, too. B+.

So, last game was a mess, and I haven't posted about it yet, because I wasn't sure what to say.

Let's put it this way: drunken, stoned Teamsters don't always make the best players (and I'm not talking about myself).

At the end of the game, Dok said, "Well, I'm sure I'll read about this next week on FAWTL Refugees, so I'd like to take this opportunity to once again apologize to Dok and Avianna for the Black Goblin's behavior. He's a very bad goblin and will be punished. Severely.

Figure I'll do a quick log of events in the Swords and Wizardry game so far.

Reugou had lived in the town of Greyhaven all his life. As he passed by an inn, a drunk dwarf rushed out. "DO YOU SEEK ADVENTURE?!" the bearded man inquired. Reugou paused, thought, and replied in the affirmative. They shook hands like MEN. They introduced themselves. C'Tares was a dwarf fighter and Reugou was a thief.
They noticed a woman standing in the street ninety feet away. Without a second thought, they pointed and shouted "DO YOU SEEK ADVENTURE?!"
She ran away.
They chased her to the edge of town, where she stopped running. C'tares again asked if she sought adventure. With a shrug, she said "Sure." Her name was Teziri, and she was a cleric.
"I hear that the Ghost King is amassing an army to the south. It is said that only magic blades are capable of dealing him harm." C'tares informed us.
"The Bugbear Baron is said to have a massive hoard that could contain such weapons," Reugou noted.
"Indeed."
Teziri didn't say much, perhaps because she was a stupid cleric.
But she did notice, carved into a tree, the letters S and P.
Reugou, with his inestimable knowledge of all things underground, told her that those were likely the sign of a notorious gang: the Smashing Pumpkins. Which may or may not have existed. C'tares wondered what pumpkins are, because he came from the dark caves of the land of the dwarves.
They left the hamlet of Greyhaven and travelled north along a forest path. The forest immediately outside Greyhaven was home to monstrous creatures and, somewhere, the Bugbear Baron and his castle of bandits. The landscape in this game is similar to that of Sweden.
The first creature encountered was a largish badger, which was soon defeated. It wounded Reugou, so the party rested for the night.
Then we decided it'd be cool to rotate GMery and characters.
The party next came across a fire beetle, which killed Teziri.
and yeah this is way too detailed

Lol, this is like someone reading the Cliff Note's version of a gaming session.

After Teziri died they heard a scream and went to its source. It was a bunch of goblins being slaughtered by a crazy chaotic cleric. C'tares hated goblins, so he forced Reugou to join in the fight. It ended up that only one goblin remained, sitting in the top of a tree. C'tares chopped the tree while the cleric threw her hammer at it.
Eventually the tree fell, killing the goblin. They didn't know it at the time, but C'tares and Reugou had just made a dangerous enemy.
The cleric, Ginne, joined our party and and everyone returned to the path. Soon, however, they were accosted by more goblins.
Enraged at the death of their fellows, they killed Ginne before C'tares could bring his warhammer to bear.
She really deserved it because she was pretty evil.
next death later

Your party's female clerics seem to have a high mortality rate, Gark. Perhaps they shouldn't be up front in the melee.

And, really, a dire badger and a fire beetle and you've already lost a party member?

We noticed the same trend. But then a bunch of other people died too.

This is Swords and Wizardry. Everyone dies.

(Also the party really can't do anything but have everyone rush into melee.)
(It's SWORDS AND WIZARDRY.)

Liberty's Edge

Looks like the political threads have returned somewhat. I'm surprised that the Kony one is still up, though.

w00t! The First Bridge of the Persecuted Troll (Orthodox) officially endorses The Motherf@!+ing Pterodactyl as their candidate to beat the overrated corrupt lazy incumbent, Treerazer (who is secretly in the pocket of the Elven Military Industrial Complex).

He is/The Motherf&~$ing Pterodactyl...

Liberty's Edge

I want to make a pterodactyl reference but I can't remember any so I'll just note that my mom had a polydactyl cat with six toes on her front feet and five toes on her back feet. I was pretty sure she was an alien. Also I guess she died a few weeks ago, which sorta sucked.

Speaking of deaths, the author of Homestuck, Andrew Hussie, died today.

rip lyl we crey every tiem

I don't know how that is, but, :(

I HATE MATH!

Yeah, math kinda sucks.

Oy vey, I agree. Taking 150 at a community college and we just dived into trigonometry last night. Last time I looked at it was ... 1989. I'm doing as much as needed to fulfill the requirements of the B.S. and nothing more. I have no plans to become a mathematician.

CLEANING THE SCHOOL KITCHEN'S WALK IN FREEZER SUCKS

...much less than one would expect. We did a good job of it, too. I have no regrets as to my choice in trades.

Liberty's Edge

Lotsa people going back to school. Guy on my bus goes to the local community college and wants to become a psychiatrist/drug counsellor. He worked at a Florida air conditioning store for ?years? without knowing basic math like slopes and stuff. Shows where math gets you.

AtlA is pretty cool. I'm not a big fan of the animes, but it's pretty cool. (As far as I've seen, though, Avatar is still superior.)

UPS Security Division: Urizen's comments are COMPLETELY UNTRUE.

I do love me some goblin figurines, but I try to avoid wasting my money on plastic junk. Maybe I'll get The Black Goblin to buy them.

YGSIU

it really depends on the design
Ripnugget is probably the sturdiest

Plastic figurines are awesome! I bought a bunch of them back in the days when I had more money.

These days all figurines are a decadent luxury, and anything made of plastic is probably something I don't need.

But, yeah, if I had disposable income, I'd buy them in a heartbeat. Apologies for any unintended plastic figurine hate.

Liberty's Edge

Ah, yes. I understand the cashflow issues.

I'm likely going to cancel my mini subscription because I can't afford it.

$$$$

I hate to say it, but I don't even look at the new products pages anymore. There's just so much stuff! And my little group hasn't even digested the rules in the APG never mind the millionty other books that have come out since then.

The Black Goblin and I bought everything we could get our hands on for about a year. I fully admit that I suffer from collector's completeitis. We amassed about two years worth of stuff, we started playing Carrion Crown--and now I don't even care what Paizo's putting out anymore. :(

Although I did flip through the first half of the Ruby Phoenix module and it looked like fun.

Have you played/run any of the APs, JMDwhatever?

I'm currently in a Kingmaker campaign.

Gonna be a campaign setting info-dump from me soon. I just have to type everything up, which won't be today since I'm spending the afternoon working in the kitchen and part of the evening on recreation detail.
