The funny thing about that Amusing Anecdote is primarily that tumblr is quite feminist, and the implication that the teacher (a young feminist) either doesn't know about tumblr or is unwilling to discourage its use is "hilarious."

I think the abundance of porn on Tumblr outweighs any feminist edge it might have...

Is it feminist porn?

Also, I am glad JMDwhatever got a new job. I guess.

Really? Most of the porn I've seen is non-photographic and commonly gay pairings. And I know it's not feminist to objectify male/male pairings but it's not really anti-feminist either.

Maybe I've been living in a very sheltered fashion but I don't block any tags and I really do not see much porn.

DIFFERENT STROKES.

anyway that dude died

iunno why I told/am telling you guys

but he was really cool

Haven't done my movies in a while, mostly because I haven't been watching very many movies.

Watched Role Models last night and I'm afraid it wasn't as funny as the trailer makes it appear. I'll give it a C+ with another full grade for all of the LARPing.

No movies forever and then two (with the same kid) in one weekend!

Kick Ass

Hee hee! I'd seen it before, but this movie is funny. Also, it somehow takes everything I don't like about Nicholas Cage and makes it work.

Yeah, that's one of the reasons Kick Ass was so great. It really played to Nic Cage's "strengths" as an actor.

Apparently, you are turning over a new leaf. Is this the beginning of a beautiful friendship?

Nicolas Cage is excellent at playing himself.

Lord of War is my favourite, but I've yet to see Kick Ass.

What happened to your face?!? You grew skin!

Liberty's Edge

I have simply removed the mask.

Spoiler:
Hello, yes, I am possessing this body. Thank you.

Hey how is everyone doing? Been a busy last few weeks. Everyone doing well?

My friend in the army finally got his PbP started so that's cool.

What are you playing?

In this game, a Gloaming Summoner. My Eidolon is heavily based on Lavos from Chrono Trigger.

Hello, Badger, Orthos!

sup

Oh, eating some mac and cheese and a hamburger. Yum yum.

Hey DB we getting lunch this week?

Hmm. That's a good idea, but I'm not sure yet. You thinking Friday?

Yeah Friday works for me.

Watch out for that Badger. He'll bend your ear with his subversive ways.

It's true! Anyway, I'm still not sure about Friday, I guess one of our shops is going out on strike. Or is out on strike, I'm not sure. You'd think they'd tell us these things...

Sounds like you need some socialist reform.

And fire.

I support this! Well the burning part at least. The rest I couldn't care less about. Where do we begin?

Really? Where can I find these picket lines?

Oh, no, I'm not sharing!

Well you certainly picked a great day for a picket sunny and wonderful.

Yup you wouldn't know anything about that would you ...being subversive... I think I am still recovering from your bad influence.

How are things going my friend?

Yes, it was much nicer today.

Vive le Galt!

Are you in that picture of the picketers?

No. I also missed the exciting incident, too. :(

I yelled at people and called them "rat fink motherf+&+ing piece of shiznit your mother is a whore you f$++ing douchebag you scab f$*$" a lot, though. :)

I'm doing some research on how to make my own wargaming table. So far I'm just finding out information about how to do so. Currently there are a couple of options so that's good. I'm actually wondering how much this will all cost at the end...

My campaign setting. More ideas.

Animals can be born with sorcerous blood. They cannot utilize it consciously, however. To become a werewolf (or other werecreature) you must hunt and kill one with nothing but a stone knife, skin it, and wear the hide. This will give you some traits of the animal and it's sorcerous bloodline.

Vampires: In real life mythology, they come in more breeds than you can imagine, and they don't all fight the same. Going against a Filipino vamp is nothing like fighting Dracula. I have done the same for my campaign setting. There are a lot of different types with very different stats, weaknesses, and special abilities.

Spells: Nothing above 3rd level. You will be compensated with a new metamagic system.

BAB and armor: Both nixed. It's a guns everywhere setting, and I don't see the need to replace armor just to keep BAB, which I view as needless extra math.

Magic items: Weak ones are common, but anything stronger (including a +1 weapon) is very rare. I want such things to be legendary. Magic is common in the world (it is magitek), but a powerful enchantment is very hard to do.

Damage and healing: Fewer hitpoints, and a dice based description system so that you can hear exactly what you did to your foe. Healing magic is present, but in large amounts will make you sick. Resurrection magic ALWAYS brings back a damaged soul, not a whole one. On the other hand, brain death takes a good 5-10 minutes after hitting -Constitution hit points (which is when your heart stops), and the soul does not depart the body until the brain has died, so healing magic can bring you back if you haven't hit brain death yet.

Tecnological period:

18th century magitek

Primary sources of inspiration:

Pirates of the Caribbean

Master and Commander

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow

Magic: The Gathering (a lot of the art on my cards gives me ideas)

Victorian Horror (Dracula, Frankenstein)

Early Colonial Witch Hunts

Zombie books and movies

Questions? They help me think of details I haven't considered yet.

Last night, my Charduni necromancer was bit by a necrophidius and then fell off a ledge and plummeted 400' to his death.

:(

If he only fell 40 feet he would have just been crippled for life.

Liberty's Edge

Aww poor necromancer!

Nice stuff, Kelsey! The sorcerous blood thing and the dice thing sound pretty neat.

Judging by the latest photos I've been tagged in on Facebook, the usual trouble.

How were the USMC?

Yea, I think the dice thing solves one of the bigger problems with martial characters: lack of cool things to do. Spellcasters have all these neat spell effects, but martials swing to hit for X damage. I want to make X damage have an actual effect beyond depleting a bar, so I'm making a damage system based on penalties and status effects. Healing magic can remove these effects, but too much of it too quickly will make you ill and, if you REALLY overdo it, dead. It's like painkillers without the dependancy. Good when you need them, bad when you have too much.

Good stuff. The falling 40 feet bit is an inside joke with my group.

Long story to follow
Spoiler:
We were playing Mutants and Masterminds and I was running the game. The setting was more of an emerging superpowers game and the players were all high school students who had just gained access to their powers. They were infiltrating an underground fight club type place and as would be expected a couple of the players participated in the event in order to get money, etc. I ran the event more like WWE than an arena duel so it was more about presentation and getting the audiance to like you than it was about actually winning the fights. My brother ended up being tagged as a "heel" and was in a fight with a female character named "Sparkle" who I decided was a fan favorite. My brother's character was essentially an evil version of Peter Petrelli from Heroes and he had a variety of powers already known to include Telekinesis. Anyways, he thrashes "Sparkle" pretty badly and as she is laying unconscious on the ground states "I use telekinesis to lift her to the ceiling and then I drop her." I paused and then responded to him "Are you sure you want to do that?" "Yeah," he says. I then state, "the ceiling is like...40 feet off the ground. If you let her fall she'll likely be crippled for life." "So," was the response. The other players thought this was hilarious and the "falling 40 feet = crippled for life" has been a running joke ever since. In fact we have determined that if you only fall 39.9 feet you are ok, it's that extra .1 that makes all the difference.

Bonus story.
Spoiler:
One of my friends is a lawyer in training and found "legal precedence" for someone being "crippled for life" after falling "exactly 40 feet".

I'm going to get you, Black Goblin!

In other news, so I had told the guy at the auto shop to divide what needed to be done to my car into the "wicked wicked important" and the merely "wicked important."

The good news is that the wwi stuff came in $200 under estimtate. The bad news is the the wi stuff is gonna be another $800!

Man, I miss public transportation.
