And, for 1001, I am, of course, naked.

Liberty's Edge

Classy.

I have artillery.

Liberty's Edge

I had a bit of fun on a little excursion around the rest of the OTD.

I wish to fire my artillery.

Liberty's Edge

And I still have no clue what you're referencing.

I also continue to lack the impetus to search Google for it.

I'm not referencing anything. I just want to blow shit up.

Worldbuilding is fun.

So, Kelsey, have I ever told you how awesome it is that you're able to write so much? Because it is pretty awesome.

I am late, late, late, for a very important date!

I screwed this post up: it was supposed to read:

Your setting reminded me of this drawing I did years ago.

I actually don't write as much as I wish. Laziness.

Aw man, I thought I had violence getting the joke. (The joke being can confusion.)

Nice art! Are you . . . NEU? or am I just way too sheltered.

Current musical crush.

Hee hee! I just figured out how to left-click on urls to cut-and-paste!

I am so not computer literate!

Anyway, Movies! Movies! Movies!

Tucker and Dale Vs. Evil I was kind of disappointed by this. Most of the funny stuff is in the trailer. C.

Shutter Island Another one I was rather disappointed with, but mostly because I already knew the secret ending before I even started watching it. Therefore I am not registering a grade.

I was also disappointed by Andersonville.

Life is full of disappointments...

Liberty's Edge

I've been hanging out on the tumpler, skype, and discussion thread a lot, and neglecting this place! Well, it seems like it's been a long time, but that's probably because I've been so busy. I was worried about my grades, but I keep went better than expected. (I think I'm going to fail a group thing or a test, but instead I pull it together and/or it turns out to be way easier than I thought.) Hooray for low expectations!

Last night I finished my midterm early and rode to my aunt's house,* only to realise I didn't have the key! So I used up my laptop battery for an hour or so and then used the remnants of my phone's power to call my parents and ask for a ride. Unfortunately, no one answered, so I walked around the house trying to determine if my aunt was home and sticking my hands in my armpits.
Then it turned out that she was just taking a nap and everything was dandy.

I'm going to get Space Jam soon. It didn't look very good back in the nineties when trailers were all over videos, but a bunch of people started referencing it yesterday so my interest has been piqued.
Is it any good?

*I generally stay at my aunt's house on midterm nights because no busses run past five and it's a pain to ride my bike all the way home. Also under this asterisk goes the observation of a sobbing girl on a wobbly bicycle zooming straight out into an intersection.

Glad to hear that all is well, even if you are considering watching Space Jam. (Just trolling, I never saw it. Is that the Shaq and Bugs Bunny movie?)

The Exchange

In this instance my Goblinesque friend, your instincts are correct. Space Jam might have been funny if you happened to have burned an entire dime bag prior to watching.

Even then I doubt it.

More than a dime bag; much more.

Yeah... might want to raid Tommy Chong's private stash first.

Got me Forgotten Hope 2 and Project Reality installed for Battlefield 2. I leave for Job Corps on Tuesday, and I'm going to enjoy my last days before that with a couple of awesome video game mods.

Oh man. Now I know that someone is being trolled here.

Which means I must watch it.

(For refrance, these friends are obsessed with B-rated movies.)

Have fun, Kelsey!

Well, Gark, there you have it: smoke many, many bowls before watching.

Good luck, Mama Kelsey (with Job Corps, not the video games; although if you want I can wish you good luck with them, too.)

MIDTERMS ARE

DONE

I guess who cares

Yay for done midterms! Also, School Sucks! All the cool kids drop out, just so you know, Gark.

D&D tonight! Yay! I am, of course, woefully unprepared. Regardless, tonight will determine whether or not the players will actually begin the second book of Carrion Crown or whether they will continue to aimlessly wander around Ustalav, harassing peasants, burning down buildings and smoking flayleaf.

Burn the Beast!

Also, it's kind of funny. One of my players is a LG half-orc wizard. I've been slowly introducing the racist anti-orc characteristics of Ustalav and, so far, he's been quite the Uncle Tom about it.

He walked into an expensive inn and the keep charged him twice as much as everybody else and then told him he had to take his meals in his room so we wouldn't upset the other patrons. The wizard meekly acquiesced. Later, when he was returning from a meeting, the innkeep looked at him and started shouting at him to stay out of sight. The wizard went without saying a word.

Hee hee! Being a racist bully is fun!

Playing a racist bully, Doodle. Playing a racist bully.

Mind you, if he's green skinned and staying in a real room rather than the local goblin kennel, I think that's quite open minded of the innkeeper; the extra charge will probably just cover the cleaning anyhow, right?

Oh, don't mind me. I'm just tinkering with the Fighter.

Liberty's Edge

hmm we tried some gaming today

but computers dying made it difficult

so I just read Ribash's greatest day and we quit

Got me a new iPod.

Damn, these new ones are small. It's literally just a screen.

Liberty's Edge

yeah it seems a lot of people use ipods nowadays

retro?

When I was at TotalCon for the Iron GM event, we sat down at the table to play 3.5 and NOBODY had a book. So, I started whipping out 3.5 rules out of my (THC-addled) memory. Anyway, a couple of people had smartphones, and the DM gave me his. I was like, "the screen is so small--how do I make it bigger?" and he gave me a look like I was an idiot and gestured with his fingers (he wasn't allowed to speak for the first hour) and I was like "hey! I'm the only one here who knows how to play 3.5, cut me some slack!"

Long live General Ludd and his army!

So, as usual, my game was wrecked by player incompetence and inebriation. (Well, some DM incompetence and inebriation might have contibuted...)

Scene 1

Spoiler:

Ran a mini-scenario for the 2 players who don't come as often--and only 1 of them showed up. So, Father Varnalium and Tutep were having an epic battle against ghouls with a burning grain silo behind them. FV failed on his first 2 turn undead attemps, but on the third one, made half the ghoulies run away...and then realized that he had been calculating his AC wrong the whole combat!! Aargh! So, I just deus ex machina'ed the whole thing by exploding the grain silo all around them...no xp for getting your AC wrong, Father Varnalium...

Scene 2

Spoiler:

The PCs had been accompanied by a squad of the Wallguard as they descended upon the ruins of Clover's Crossing. Unfortunately, all these redshirts became chum for ghouls...with the exception of 4th-level paladin leader, Lieutenant Luxia.

So, the party won an evil artifact called the Bone Ioun Stone and they thought they were so clever, grabbing it out from under the watchful eyes of a paladin. Well, no. They get back to the town of Cobble, where the Wallguard locks them in a room. The lt. says, "Sorry, but we can't let you go until you hand over the Bone Ioun Stone." The player of Tramora has a complete fit for the next hour after the other players agree to turn the item over. He even smacks the unarmed, unarmored paladin the face with his soul-breaker for 15 points of damage!

Luxia grabs a steak knife and Tramora taunts him: "Oh, what's that going to do? 1d2 points of damage?!?" Luxia: "Smite evil!"--15 points of damage, hee hee!

Scene 3

Spoiler:

So, at this point, inter-party tensions are running high. That is, everyone wants to kill Tramora! So, I roll a dryad for a random encounter. Who needs dryads? Let's make it a nymph!

Lodi Carene, halfling summoner, is scouting ahead on his winged eidolodon Samantha when he hears someone singing. He sends Samantha to check it out and using bonded senses, discovers a beautiful naked woman bathing in a waterfall. I hand wave some rule stuff and make Lodi get stunned through the link. When he comes to, I further hand wave some Realm of Fey/Plane of Dreams stuff and he can no longer feel any connection to Samantha! Perturbed he goes and checks it out...and discovers Samantha blissfully sun-bathing at the waterfall. The nymph is impressed with Lodi and Samantha and wants to know more about this strange, new magic. Lodi is polite and uses his Diplomacy skill well...but when he says he's got to go BOO-YA! the nymph charms him. We, as a group, have done this whole nymph charm thing before, so Lodi's player is like, "Fine, I whip out a flayleaf joint, take off my clothes and say "C'mon, baby!" The nymph is all "Hmmm, usually you mortals are more puritan in your reticence..." They get down to having some hawt sex!!

Meanwhile the party arrives at where Lodi was supposed to be making a campfire and go in search of him. First up, of course, is Tramora who comes over a pile of rocks. He makes eye-contact with Lodi, who is striving manfully (or half-manfully) underneath the nymph. The homoerotic thrill of seeing his hated enemy causes Lodi to fail his Fortitude save and spend! Tramora fails his Stealth roll, the nymph, already annoyed by Lodi's lack of stamina is startled by Tramora and starts an epic nymph fight!

The first thing she does is forget to suppress her blinding gaze, which Tramora saves against but Lodi fails. "How dare you disturb our frolics!" she yells and orders Samantha to attack. Lodi's player starts complaining about how charm spells don't compel people to do things they would't ordinarily do. "Oh yeah" I counter, "how many times have you attacked Tramora without being charmed?" "Uh, three or four." "Samantha attacks Tramora with a savagery you've never seen before!"

So, we got to work out some inner party conflict by letting Samantha beat all over Tramora. The nymph summoned an earth elemental, blasted the party with call lightning and blinded all the males in the party! Hee hee! In the end, though, it was all a misunderstanding, and the nymph promised to restore every one's sight tomorrow when she regained her spells!

Meanwhile, she took Lodi up into her pocket-dimensional boudoir and bestowed upon him "her favor." I'll leave out the pornographic details this time, but with a new +4 to his Perform checks, Lodi whipped out the Piper of Illmarsh's silver flute and maybe she accompanied him by playing a flute of her own!

We left it with the party awaiting Lodi and the nymph's return at the bottom of the waterfall, 3/4ths blinded. At the end of the game I taunted them with stories about how times passes differently in fey pocket-dimensions. "What?" they asked in horror. "Haven't you ever read Rip van Winkle!" I taunt gleefully! Hee hee!

Liberty's Edge

An epic tale. It seems I'll be starting a game with my bro and a couple of English minecrafters. I will be playing a dwarf sorceress known as Annu Terezu, or as she prefers to be known, At. (Awesome callback to one of my more original characters in DDO.) (Actually, today my bro and I spent half an hour discussing DDO and Warcraft. CRAZY nostalgia up ins.)

#1--Does she have a beard?

#2--What do you mean by "English minecrafters"?

#3--Playing D&D rocks!!

#4--Any other FAWTL Refugees want to talk about their current games?

So, I'm about to take a shower, finish packing and inventorying my bags, and then go to bed. Gotta get up early tomorrow morning to get to the airport for Job Corps. Once there, I have no idea how long it'll be before I can get online. So, this may or may not be goodbye for a while.

Bon voyage, Mama Kelsey!

1. I haven't started work on her yet. Just abilities and "flamboyant dwarf sorceress who tries to upstage the paladin." And I think she left her home because she was tired of boring rebuilding and wanted to wreck some shit/recover an ancient hall FROM THE DEMONS.

2. "English minecrafters" is a derogatory term for Australian pimps.

Spoiler:
Or just referring to, y'know, ENGLISH PEOPLE WHO PLAY MINECRAFT.

3. Playing Pathfinder ROCS!

4. For your reading view perusal.

5. ???

6. Profit

7. So ein gluck, Kelsey! Safe travels!

8. hmm not sure if I have anything to go here

FAWTL Refugees keep it real, yo!

I'm at Job Corps right now. We have four computers with internet in our dorm, but they are shared between a bunch of people, so, while I do have internet access, I have to manage my time so I'm not hogging the computers. That means you probably won't see many massive homebrew posts from me for the next couple years, as I don't have time to sit and type them all out.

I'm still in orientation right now, and don't get to pick my job training until next week. Then I have to do an education regimen (Got to get my driver's license and get whatever other academic stuff they say I need.) before I start my job training.

Aw, I'll miss the many massive homebrew posts, but keep in touch when you're able.

And remember, the person who forces their room mates to play RPGs is always the most memorable. (No promises on popularity, completely different skill set.)

Great!

So, remind us with, uh, poor short-term memories, Mama Kelsey, where are you, exactly? And what are they going to have you do?

I'm at Trapper Creek Job Corps Center in Montana. Basically, they teach you a bunch of independant living skills and teach you a trade. I'm in orientation right now, and I sign up for a trade next week. I'm going for forestry.

Gods, damn, am I sore. I've been walking around with a 50 pound bag of rocks because I need to build up my carrying strength for my trade, and then I went and beveled some leather in the art room.

Sounds like they're really putting you to work.

Today has been pretty great. I got to see this poll go from 2% to 60. Some awesome updates also went down and my friend finished the first act of Act 5. And liveblogs. Holy shit liveblogs.

More flickety flicks!

Black Death Pretty cool little medieval witch-hunting flick. I liked it. I'd think D&D players would like it, too. B+.

Super 8 I thought the first 2/3rd was pretty awesome--a nice pastiche of E.T., The Goonies and Close Encounters of the Third Kind. The last third blew goats, though. I'll give it a B, but the ending sucked.

Moon I had meant to see this a couple of years ago, but I forgot about it until Lord Dice gave it the thumbs up. It's great! Solid A.

They aren't actually making me carry the rock bag. I came up with that on my own. I need the work.

Right now, we have nothing important to do, so I'm chilling with my buddies. We're going to watch The Mighty Boosh.

Dammit, Doodlebug. Black Death looks awesome, but Youtube is banned here at Trapper Creek.

what happened?

Yeah, OTD's been a bit slow, lately. :(

I think after a million and a half political arguments, people are less and less willing to see the same half-dozen posters pull out their regular shtick.

Anyway, at least there's always Leafar!
