Gull Street Annie |
Annie looked around, her gaze quickly settling on the woman in the room. She kept her face as blandly interested as possible at the woman's offer, hoping to find some information on Vanthus Vanderboren for Miss Lavinia, despite her anger at the bribe.
Bluff: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
"We have to at least complete our current mission from Miss Vanderboren," Annie countered, doing her best to make her accent and tone more like those of well to do gentry instead of the more rough and ready Shadowshore residents she'd known the last few years. Her ill fitting bandit clothing and undoubtedly bedraggled appearance probably didn't help her image any, but she did her best to treat her state as an inconvenience to be simply ignored. "...and find the location of her dear brother. Do you know where young Mr. Vanthus might be?" She looked down at her torn fingernails with a studied air of nonchalance. "Unfinished contracts and loose ends grate on the nerves so, don't you agree?" She allowed herself a visibly sly smile at this. She and her friends had been such loose ends for this woman, and everyone here knew it.
Okay, that was a very good time to roll a 20!
DM-Camris |
"You accept? Yay!" She gives a sardonic little clap.
"I thought you might have some kind of moral compunction to reject my more than generous offer. As to sweet Vanthus; no need to sweat! He's off on a little project of his own right now. He'll turn up later though; like a very bad penny."
She puts her hand to her chin in thought.
"Of course, before actually joining the power and prestige of the Lotus Dragons, we need a little proof of your loyalty. Nothing beyond your clear skill and power. We need to make sure Lavinia is in no position to threaten us anymore. I want you to take a cask of a powerful poison that we're cooking up right now and dose the banquet the Mayor is giving and frame Lavinia for the crime. Two birds with one stone!"
Gull Street Annie |
Annie spread her hands, doing her best to continue her ruse, though she wasn't sure how much longer she could stand it before she spit in the woman's face. "Now, really, we can't just betray our current employer with a contract left unfinished. I think it's very unfair to ask that of us - it will do irrepairable harm to our reputation. How would you ever trust us if we couldn't remain honest enough to fulfill our prior agreement?" Annie tried to negotiate with the woman. "Lavinia didn't hire us to harm you personally - there's no reason we can't part amiably - but it's just good business to remain reliable while one is hired. Surely you understand that obligations must be met? If you can tell us where Vanthus is, we can let her know and fulfill our obligation to her. If he is away on errands, all the better, as we can fulfill the contract and not inconvenience you at all. Then you will have perfectly placed allies for what you plan. And we - we will be good businessmen with an impeccable reputation for staying loyal to our employer - while employed. I think that sounds like a most fair trade, don't you?"
Bluff: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
C'mon, lady take the deal...before the dice betray me! :D
Bryson Deepwinter |
It's not just the dice you have to worry about. Bryson has the honest trait.
Bryson stands there confused. He looks totally dumbfounded at what Annie is saying.
Bindlplotz Cogwhistle |
The womans eyes turn flint hard, and the blasting pistole appears like magic in her hand, the hole pointing towards you looks enormous.
"I think you are going to obey me. There is no turning back, now that you've seen my face.
"Oi've got two of them, an moine be big'r lass.". As he readies his musket.
Gull Street Annie |
As the lotus lady pulls the gun, Annie would like to move into the room to either the right or the left, whichever has the nearest piece of furniture or something she could dive behind for cover. Her immediate concern is that, as she's been the spokesperson, hopefully the lady will track her movement and shoot at her rather than shoot into her friends crowded around her.
In case we need to roll initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Annie will be going total defense this round: +4 Dodge AC
Annie moved quickly into the room, circling as near the wall as she could as she kept a wary on the woman. "Well, that's too bad. We already destroyed your poison. Good luck brewing another batch anytime soon without your little kobold minion!"
Bluff: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
DM-Camris |
As the woman and Annie converse, she gets more and more suspicious until she pulls an alchemical pistole and Annie dives for cover...
You could swear you have seen her somewhere before...
She's Rowyn Kellani! Eldest daughter of Duke Kellani is running a criminal empire! No wonder she couldn't let you leave seeing her face.

The felldrake next to her lunges towards Bryson, leaping easily over the low furniture to attack him with it's shark-like teeth.

Channel Positive Energy: 1d6 ⇒ 3

Scimitar: damage 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

Attack (flank with Dgrim): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5
If the creature is down, Annie will coup de grace it to make sure it's dead so her healing doesn't bring it back up to fight. This deals an extra 1d6 ⇒ 1 and turns the attack into a full round action.
Bindlplotz Cogwhistle |
If the felldrake is down, I'll set for charge
If the felldrake is still up, I'll attack it.

She shouts; "Wingripper! Spot! RISE!"
With a faint tinkling pop, an onyx gemstone mounted on the collars of the felldrakes [#5 & #7] shatters in a pulse of violet and black energy that washes over the corpses. Their limbs twitch, and they stagger to their feet in an frightning unnatural silence, their eyes glowing red.
The spell effect is of an Animate Dead, probably triggered by a verbal command and enchanted into a one shot item on each collar on the Felldrakes.
Looks like the Felldrakes have arisen as Zombies, they're going to be hard to kill unless you have edged weapons.
The woman calls out; "And one of you kill that healer!"
The act of standing up will make Zombie Felldrake #7 eligable for Attacks of Opportunity from Dgrim, Annie and Bindlplotz.

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23

But clearly something has cursed him as he misses wildly with every move he made.
Spinnaker Jon--7
Misses cutting #5 as it stands, but takes a step back and casts Grease on the woman's sword. She curses as it becomes slippery, but retains control of her blade, at least for now.
Annie-----3
"The collar around their necks allowed them to do that!" Annie called out. "When you take down the other,
remove the collar or it'll likely do the same." Annie sets her jaw and grimly attacks the foul creature rising before her.
Only to realize that the wound she gave did no damage!
Seeing Ghirrak injured again, Annie calls out one last time for healing from Cayden Cailean, excluding the
live felldrake and the woman from the healing energy.
