Has anyone taken a stab at converting Arcana Evolved classes to a PF-version?

heh... I was just about to post the same question...

I'm thinking about converting a couple of the classes from Arcana Unearthed (20 levels not the 25 from Evolved) myself, but unfortunately those are on my 'will get to" list. Currently I'm elbow deep with 7 of WotC's classes that I'm reworking. Although one of those is the swashbuckler and I plan to use the unfettered as the frame work to rebuild it (and the swashbuckler badly needs to be rebuilt). I can try giving that one a higher priority as I've been bouncing between classes as the inspiration hits me, but any others are probably going to be stuck on the back burner for at least the next few weeks. Again, these are the 20 level versions I'm working on.

I've been seriously considering importing the AE magic system into my Pathfinder game (soon to start). Would love to add in the non caster classes, though I don't think they work all that well with the standard classes. This isn't from a mechanical point at all though, it's specific to the setting. Why have fighters when you have warmains and unfettered? The basic 11 that have been around sense 3.0 are very bland, which isn't really a bad thing, but once you compare them to the very flavorfull classes from AE. This might just be my own personal hangup though.

Either way, I would love to discuss how to convert the AE classes (specifically the caster classes) over.

I'm intersted in seeing what other people have to say about this as well.

I always liked the way spells were handled in AE, though I had a hard time creating racial spells, or applying existing racial lists to core races. It led me to think about having race as a 'component', or 'focus', to create 'elf magic' or 'gnome magic'. That way some spells might actually be a secrete known only to that race.

OHHHH good idea!

I am considering a cleric variant that Set got me thinking about in another topic. No idea what that topic was! lol sorry

but the idea is to use channeling instead of spell slots. I'm thinking possibly the variant channels rites that are essentially the spells from AE and use the Diminished and Heightened effects.

I have been looking at the Magister, Greenbond, and Witch, but generally been underwhelmed with them for PF. Maybe I am missing something. They just seem to need a little kick of something.

The martial classes haven't grabbed me much either. Again just missing something.

I keep thinking that adding some mechanic similar to the Rage Points might help. Not using Rage, just that mechanic. Give them a rush of magic or something to kick them up.

While I liked the Akashic and wanted to see it turned into a psionic class I never had the time to do anything with it. I really liked the AE magic system, especially the way spells were broke down into simple, common and exotic spells and the readying and weaving fit right in with no changes.

Does anybody know the formula to blow PFrpg out to 25 levels? I'm thinking about developing 5 level utility classes based on the fencing schools from 7th Sea but I don't want to deny anyone the ability to take a class all the way to 20th level or a PrC to 10th.

The actual suggestion in AE is to add 5levels to the existing class, not to expand what is there already.
