Scenario Chronicle #

GM Discussion

Scarab Sages

I participated in four PFS adventures at Gen Con 2009. This Friday, I am going to run one of the adventures (#24 Decline of Glory) that I participated in for my local group. This will be my first time GMing for PFS, and I have a couple of questions.

1. What is the "Scenario Chronicle #" box for on the chronicle sheet? None of mine got filled out at Gen Con, and I can't find a reference on the site of the forums. We asked a couple of GMs at Gen Con and they weren't sure, then we just stopped asking...

2. Since my sessions from Gen Con haven't been reported yet, is there going to be a problem with me reporting results for my session on Friday? I'm not eating the scenario, since I've already played it...but then again, according to the site I don't have credit for having done it.

3. Am I correct in thinking that I just go and report the results, and that there is nothing I need to do first?

4. The Guide says that new characters can't buy magic items. But they can buy magic items if they're in a town with 5,000+ people. Assuming that they start in one, can they buy magic items at the beginning of the adventure? (It's a moot point for #24 because they don't start in a town, but the question is bugging me and might matter for new players down the road.)

Thanks!

That's the order in which you played them. You have access to your three most recent chronicles, so numbering them in the order they were played allows you and others to quickly see what you do and don't have access to. And if you ever drop your binder or folder and the pages go everywhere, it helps to put them back in order.

Reporting sessions out of order should have no effect on anything. As long as the date you played it is correctly entered by whomever reports GenCon scenarios and by yourself for this weekend, the computer will see that you had not previously run it when it is reported for the earlier date.

You might want to create an event ahead of time, but it's not a requirement.

In general, a newly created character won't have access to enough money after buying starting gear to get magic, but if they are in a town and do have a few extra gp, I would allow it after they get their assignments but before act 1. I don't know if this situation has been covered in an FAQ elsewhere, though.

are the magical items listed in the chronicles in need of conversion to pathfinder. I ask because i have seen a non-standard items in one or two and feel that at this point it is getting silly. i cant even run an adventure no without have to restate and equip the NPCs because all the gear has yet to be converted in thier stats.

As far as I know, the standard rule of thumb is to not do any conversion of the season 0 adventures. What do you mean about the gear not being converted in the stats?

Run the NPCs as they are noted in the stat block. Since Pathfinder Society doesn't deal with the "gathering the loot and selling it bit" (we just give a reward after each encounter) it doesn't matter what loot the NPCs have. If the chronicle sheet on a Season 0 scenario offers items that don't exist anymore, cross it out. If it offers an item that's changed, replace it with the new item. Otherwise, you don't need to make any changes at all.

As for converting all of the Season 0 scenarios to Pathfinder RPG--that's not going to happen. It takes way too much time and I'd rather focus on making future scenarios better than converting past scenarios.

Thanks for your feedback, though! We do appreciate it.

In the guide i simply see you have access to any Chronicles your character earned. Where is the limit of most recent three written please?

strangepork: This thread is over three years old! The rules have changed in that time; your PC has access to buy items on any of his chronicle sheets.
