Taking skills at character creation

Rules Questions

Liberty's Edge

I'm creating a Human Fighter with an INT of 14. I read this as getting 2(Class)+2(INT Mod)+1(Human)skill points at 1st level. I read the favored class rules as stating that you can take +1 hit or skill point even at character creation. So, if I read this correctly I could potentially take 6 skill points at 1st level with Fighter being my favored class if I opt to take a skill point instead of an additional hit point?

Is this correct?

That is the way I read it, provided that Fighter is your favored class. Before you ask, yes, I can see a situation where you would start with a class that wasn't your favored class (background story, or hitpoint juggling), for example, if you are planning on being a barbarian/cleric (with cleric as your favored since you plan on taking more levels of cleric), you would probably take the Barbarian first level if you needed the HPs (maybe your con is low). Or, if you are going to have barbarian be your favored class, you might take Cleric at first to gain healing at first level to make it easier to last to second level.

Either way though, if Fighter is your favored class, you should have either 6 skill points and 10+[Con Mod] hp or 5 skill points and 11+[Con Mod] hp.

Thanks for reassuring me that I read it correctly. I think I saw another post that was similar in that the pregens had an additional hit point and that's because those are their assumed favored classes.
