I'm so sorry Erian. It sounds like the week from hell incarnate! A 15 year sentence? That sounds like the maximum sentencing guideline for possession of an illegal substance (as imposed by the f'ing stupid Rockefeller Laws). If your friend was given the maximum for just being a drug addict then that was foolish of the judge (as he should have just been sent to mandatory rehab).

Dark Archive

Hi erian...Sounds like a tough stretch. Hope things get better for you and your family.

I'm not sure if this is on your list or not, but there is a variable in the Curses and Mysteries tab that should be fixed. If you replace all instances of Character_Currentevel with Character_Level, then that should do it.

Take care.

Wow, rough times, Erian. Just wanted to say thanks for all your hard work!

Definitely very glad this exists, and looking forward to the next iteration.

I've just started playing a monk with the Zen Archer build (APG p115), and I've managed to change most of what needed to be changed (side note: The feat list constructed in Class Abilities D96 seems to reference non-existent cells), but I can't figure out how to set it up so I can use Flurry of Blows with a bow. Can you give me a hint about where to start? Thanks.

Sorry to hear about all of your trials and tribulations.

I just came back to this file after being away myself, and I think I may have missed something.

I downloaded the new version of the sheet, but the bardic performance tab seems to have been accidentally replaces with another version of the DataGeneral.

Is this just me?

On a plane today, and looking forward to some alone time in a hotel room with nothing to do! I'll definitely spend some of that time on the sheet, specifically looking at all errors reported to date.

Making a Half-Orc Sorceress (Brass Draconic bloodline) with the following APG features:

1) Replacing the Orc Ferocity with Sacred Tattoos
2) Taking Deepsight as the 1st level feat.
3) Want to use the Orc special ability for Fire spell damage.

Item by Item:

1) I am assuming the Alternate Racial Traits will eventually get their own drop downs - it's a fairly simple substitution process, if somewhat tedious to do the data entry on.

2) While Deepsight is listed on the Feat drop downs, the description doesn't pull up with Feats_Known, as others do.

Looking at the Feats tab, cell Q351 has a formula of:

=IF(ISNUMBER(FIND(B351,Feats_Known)),"
- "&B351&": "&J351,"")

While the name of the feat is in B351, the description is in L351. I'm not sure if I should move the data over to column J or update the formula to refer to column L, but that area looks like it could use some cleanup.

3) No clue how you're going to do this without juggling a lot of drop downs on the Getting Started tab. I suspect that you'll have to do a function like this: =INDEX(CONCATENATE(Race_Name,Favored_Class) to pull it up. Ghu help you with Half Elves...

My universalist wizard (remember them?) just hit 8th level and I noticed that my metamagic mastery ability doesn't show up on the sheet. I'm sure it's a simple fix somewhere, but it would be appreciated.

DataRaces tab and Deepsight:

Change X6 and X10 to:

="Darkvision "&IF(Lvl_Ora>1,30,60)+IF(Lvl_ShadDance>1,30,0)+IF(Feats!Q351<& gt;"",60,0)&"'"

Change AM6 and AM10 to:

=IF(Feats!Q351<>"","Darkvision 120'","Darkvision 60'")

Replicate these changes along all the other races that have Darkvision.

Feats tab:

You will need to make Elemental Spell, Elemental Focus and Greater Elemental Focus into:

Elemental Spell [fire]
Elemental Spell [electricity]
Elemental Spell [cold]
Elemental Spell [acid]

for their respective subtypes.

Is there a place to add the +1 elemental damage to the weapon field (flaming, shock etc) so that the enhancement bonus is calculated into the overall cost of the weapon?

I know that this is a work-around, but I simply use a line in the inventory page with a value placeholder for the missing value. This also works for armor enhancements (shadow, imp shadow, fortification, etc). I put the qty at "1" and the weight at "0" and fill in the GP column with the difference between the calculated cost (per the sheet) and the actual value from the Rulebook.

Shadow Lodge

Right now I just set the enhancement bonus to "2" instead of "1" and put a "-1" in the attack and damage area to even everything out. The price of the weapon is correct though.

Hi Erian -

I am an Open Office user. I tried to download this, but the Google link is broken. The database link points to version 0.9.1. I could not get functionality on 0.9.1 (no + signs). I read that somewhere on this thread that these might somehow be off the page??

I do have 0.8.9, which is functioning. Any chance that I could get the OO friendly version of 0.9?

I saw that you've had a hell of a week, so if someone else has a link for me, I'd appreciate it!

Thanks!

OMG I'm blind. I just re-opened 0.9.1 and looked again for the + signs and found them. Excellent resource, thank you.

I'll be sure to post all of the other "missing" features that I am too blind to see.

Anyone know how to add this domain from Serpent's Skull adventure path?

Scalykind Domain:
Scalykind Domain

The following section details the Scalykind domain, updating it for the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game in accordance with other domains in the Core Rulebook. More details on the domains and deities of Golarion can be found in Gods and Magic.

Deities: Dahak, Ydersius

Granted Powers: You are a true lord of reptiles, able to induce pain, panic, and confusion with a mere glance, and your mesmerizing eyes can even drive weak creatures into unconsciousness.

Venomous Stare (Sp): As a standard action, you can activate a gaze attack with a 30-foot range. This is an active gaze attack that can target a single creature within range. The target must make a Will save (DC = 10 + 1/2 your cleric level + your Wisdom modifier). Those who fail take 1d6 points of nonlethal damage + 1 point for every two cleric levels you possess and are fascinated until the beginning of your next turn. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Wisdom modifier. This is a mind-affecting effect.

Serpent Companion (Ex): At 4th level, you gain the service of an animal companion. Your effective druid level for this animal companion is equal to your cleric level –2. You may choose either a viper or a constrictor snake as your companion.

Domain Spells: 1st—magic fang, 2nd—animal trance, 3rd—greater magic fang, 4th—poison, 5th—animal growth*, 6th—eyebite, 7th—creeping doom (takes the form of Diminutive-sized snakes), 8th—animal shapes*, 9th—shapechange.

I don't know excel programming and tried to piece it together using the existing domains as formula reference, but I failed horribly. lol

I came up with this...

my code try:
=”Venomous Stare (Sp): "&3+Wis_Mod_L&"/day , As a standard action, you can activate a gaze attack with a 30-foot range. This is an active gaze attack that can target a single creature within range. The target must make a Will save (DC = "&10+FLOOR(B1/2,1)+Wis_Mod_Current&"). Those who fail take 1d6 points of nonlethal damage + “FLOOR(B1/2,1)” and are fascinated until the beginning of your next turn.” &IF(B1>3,"
Serpent Companion (Ex): At 4th level, you gain the service of an animal companion (You may choose either a viper or a constrictor snake as your companion). Your effective druid level for this animal companion is " &Animal_Companion_Level-2,"")

Since I have never done this, I cannot see where the error is

Take a look at this spell DB.. http://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic/spells-db

there they got all details this should help you with more functuanality for spells tab

Erian, I modified your sheet so that a Custom PrC's spellcasting progression does not all get dumped into the spells page after taking only one level. I'm sending you the sheet in case this could be useful for you in a future upgrade. Sorry, the character specifics are still inputted, but that will save you some time anyways as you'll see the effect of what I've done.

By the way I now use Open Office and not Excel, so all these modifications were done in Open Office...

Cheers,

PDK

PS: let me know if you intend to add the new APG cleric subdomains -- I need these for another PC. If you will then I will not proceed to try to modify the sheet any further.

I currently have a Monk character in sheet v.0.9.1 and the flurry of blows is working correctly when viewed in excel. Do you have two weapon slots, both set to unarmed and both with the flurry of bows setting selected?

I have set one weapon slot to unarmed and turned on flurry of blows yes. Why do you say "two weapon slots?" This monk is a dex monk with Weapon Finesse, so maybe something happens with Weapon Finesse turned on.

As it says in the FAQ sheet: "Flurry of blows works exactly like two-weapon fighting in PRPG. As such, you need to use two weapon blocks for a flurry of blows, with one set to Wield As: 2-Wpn Primary and the other set to Wield As: 2-Wpn Off-Hand. In the Combat Options for each weapon block, set one of the options to Flurry of Blows and you're ready to go. This is especially important for monks that might use a mix of unarmed strikes and weapon attacks."

For some reason, the Ki Pool monk ability isn't wrapping in the Class Ability box, so I can only see the first few words of the description. Any idea what I can do to fix this?

Thanks.

Is the sheet now set to handle a Monk's Robe? (the drop down for Robe/Vestment is giving me problems... the DataMagicItem sheet doesn't show Monk's Robe either)

If not, I'm wondering how hard it would be to add that feature? ('cause every monk I DM goes for this item! :P)

Erian,

Saw life has overwhelmed you and I think I am tracking what you have been working on... And I thank you for the wonderful sheet you have provided for us.

I was working up a new character concept last night and noticed that the new bloodlines for Sorcerers is not included yet.

I assume that you are going to finish the new APG classes and then update the core class additions but just thought I would remind you when you get back on track.

Thank you again for all your work - this is the best sheet I have ever used and I am very happy with it. Thank God you are not creating a sheet for 4th edition or WOD or some other game that I don't play... Thanks for working on my sheet for MY game (he said selfishly).

Erian hasn't finished the magic item automation, so the Monk's robe does not work atm. For my Monk, I adjusted the Monk_AC_Mod field as well as the appropriate unarmed attack field on the DataEquipment tab myself.

First of all let me say thanks for the great sheet and for all the hard work. However think I have run into a bit of bug. Searched the thread and didn't see it specifically listed.

Using the most current version 0.9.1 in Excel 2007.

Bug is showing up on the Spells sheets.
8th lvl Elven Cleric
14 Wisdom

Sheet is only calculating Spells per Day for 0, 1st, and 2nd level spells. It is not calculating for 3 & 4th level spells as appropriate for an 8th level cleric.

After some playing around with it the sheet it will calculate 3rd lvl spells if I adjust wisdom to 16 and 4th lvl if I adjust to 18. It appears that the sheet is calculating spells per day based off of Wisdom modifier rather that comparing Wisdom stat to 10+spell level.

Also, the first part of the AND logic statement reference the Ability Mod ($DB$6). It should reference the (ability score_Current - 10)

I've hardcoded the Wis ability score for my party's cleric, but here is the Spells/Day cell for 5th level spells:

=IF(AND((Wis_Current-10)>=5,ISNUMBER(VLOOKUP(INDIRECT("CL_"&$CJ$6),I NDIRECT("Table_Spells_Per_Day_"&VLOOKUP($CJ$6,Table_Casters_Ability,MAT CH("TABLE",Header_Casters_Ability,0),0)),7,0))),VLOOKUP(INDIRECT("CL_"& $CJ$6),INDIRECT("Table_Spells_Per_Day_"&VLOOKUP($CJ$6,Table_Casters_Abi lity,MATCH("TABLE",Header_Casters_Ability,0),0)),7,0),"")

Erian has been hammered hard with work, but he's been getting a small amount of work on the next revision done. There's a lot of data entry left to do to get all the favored class options and bloodlines into the sheet.

I just want to say thanks for all the work and kudos to everyone.

+1 Erian_7 I am great full for all your hard work and I hope things have settled down for you.

Dark Archive

Hello Erian,

I found a bug in the Spell tabs. Eligibility to cast a spell is based on the casting stat bonus instead of the casting stat itself.

For example, I made a 5th level Cleric with a 14 Wisdom. He should be able to cast 3rd level spells. His casting stat bonus is +2, so cell BP25 is blank because $BY$6 is less than 3.

Perhaps you could create a column in DataClasses called Max_Spell_Level and use the class and corresponding ability score to determine the maximum level of spell that the character can cast.

Figured it out! By going to DataEquipment and setting the bows to be 1-handed and giving them the special ability of "monk", it all works nicely.

Erian, is there anyway we, out here in the community can help out with the data entry donkey work for you. Freeing you up to do the clever stuff that you do so well?

Just let us know how we can help mate.

And a big thank you as well

Sovereign Court

Erian,

I hope your troubles get better.

All the best,

Hey all, I definitely appreciate the continued patience and well-wishes! For those keeping track, I've now added to the list of crazy over the last two months...

  • 75-yr old dad got pneumonia,
  • hard drive crashed (taking out what work I had actually completed on the next update)
  • big contract I've been putting together at work fell apart so I have to start over
  • my homegame group lost half its members
  • and my latest was a run with some flu-like concoction against which I failed my save...

Now, the good thing is my time with the d20 system has taught me that challenges = XP, so something good must be coming from this!

Truly, I let Ken know last week I was considering an official "on pause" state for a while unless I could find someone to pick up the current sheet and keep it going in my absence. He suggested the same thing Bragg brought up just above, getting some documentation on my intentions/plans and then getting volunteers to handle the data entry stuff for the APG (and really any other material for that matter). Ken even offered to serve as the coordinator and ping me on a regular basis with updates. So, you folks' continued interest and support has given me an option for keeping this going until I climb out of my hole!

Where does that put us for now? Well, I tried recovering my last file without success. I'm going to work it back up to the state I had, which includes a bare-bones structure for the racial abilities. We'll basically need to shift all races to that, then add all the alternate abilities. Once done, it will accommodate the alternatives and should also reduce/standardize all racial abilities for any future races. I've got a window for tonight that I think will allow me to put this back together, so I think the file will be ready by tomorrow. One other note, Kor has also mentioned coordinating data entry for what he's using in his macro-enabled character sheet, so there might be some opportunities there for some collaboration and reduction of overall effort.

I'm hoping to at least make it by the forums more often as well, but wanted to definitely thank Ken in particular for prodding me back into some action.

  • Thanks for the update Erian, YOU ROCK DUDE!

    Liberty's Edge

Erian, take care of what you have to take care of. We're all pulling for you!

For those who don't know, I'm the Ken that Erian mentioned. I'll be asking for some data input volunteering once Erian gets me the prototype file.

He's restructuring a fair amount of the data in the racial abilities area to make it more standardized and easy to maintain (and to augment when things like the APG come out.)

I am temporarily coordinating this. I am not taking over the project; it remains Erian's, I'm just doing some project management fu for him while he digs out of the mess.

I've been in the peanut gallery for this project for a while, and though I have no Excel programming ability to speak of, I provide feedback as best I can. One thing to be careful of.

Every time a new feature is added to the spreadsheet, it's going to slow it down; if that new feature involves Booleans (IF, AND, OR) or calculations, it's going to slow the spreadsheet down a fair bit.

Use table lookups to keep performance up. Avoid using functions that are "volatile" and cause Excel to recalculate every cell in the sheet when they're called.

And think carefully about what feature are really needed as opposed to being really nice. While it would be nice to load the spell index into the sheet, I am concerned about sheet performance on it.

Which means that Erian and I may try putting it in and decide that it's too much of a performance hit...and performance hits on Excel tend to make Open Office users cry.

For all, I managed to find a partial of the file I was working on (I had stuck a copy up on my Google site for some reason, but in an XLSX format). The down side is I can't tell how many of the bugs I had fixed are in place, but it does have both the structure I had started for Racial Traits and Favored Class (see the DataRacial_Traits and DataFavored_Class tabs). This will, hopefully, be enough to get anyone that wants to help pointed in the right direction and I'm sure it will be enough for Ken to get a good plan in place. From a quick look, my guess is it at least addresses some of the Alchemist bugs that were reported.

So, v.0.9.2 is posted and ready for any assistance you good folks can provide!

Hey Verbek, I don't recall if I responded on your email or not, and if not I'm very sorry! Getting the spell piece done would indeed be a huge help! As AAG notes, we'll have to assess it for any impacts to the sheet, but it can't hurt to try it out!

EDIT: One thing that would be a huge help for actually getting the reported bugs hammered out--for anyone that's reported something or is tracking if a fix is in place, try out this version and let me know!

Oh, and for those keeping score...

My wife's van stopped cranking yesterday. I've got the battery out for a test, but preliminary assessment says it's good. I'm hoping it's just the starter, which I can probably replace myelf...
