Cleric Domain: Strength

Rules Questions

The 1st level ability applies to basically anything that STR effects - besides Encumbrance as it doesn't increase your STR itself (!?)

The 8th level ability (only applicable to self) DOES apply to your STR score, but then says it only affects STR checks and Skills. Would it affect Carrying Capacity with that wording? And during the Beta, I thought Jason commented that things that affected STR checks should apply to CMB/CMD. Should that also be the case (and I dont see why it shouldn't apply to Melee attacks/damage as well)...?

It also does not affect damage. Otherwise yes, it only gives a bonus to what is listed.

The 8th level ability only applies to Strength checks (such as those needed to burst open a door) and Strength-based skill checks. The carrying capacity is not altered as this bonus lasts for 2 minutes (at 20th level) maximum. Though if there was really something you needed to carry within the small time you had, I think a house rule allowing your encumbrance to be temporarily increased is alright.

Yeah, I'm clear on the RAW as-is, it's just that similar abilities (Barbarian Rage Power STR bonus) in Beta were worded similarly and Jason commented they should indeed apply to CMB/CMD. It's a big book, so not every little detail necessarily got fixed in time for the printers' cut-off...

(I think increasing your Carrying Capacity is HUGELY iconic for a Cleric of Strength, imagine calling upon Divine Strength to lift the Colossal corpse of a Stone Giant which is blocking the door out, etc...)

Yeah, but that's more of a feat of strength then an issue of carrying capacity to a lot of GM's. I personally would just call for a Strength Cheek rather then start calculating encumbrance.
