As Vashti addresses the uniformed men, who she doesn't trust to be Sentinals, Percy summons some of the fire her sister shows such an affinity for. Flames lick up her arms as she readies the spell.

Ready action to cast Burning Hands if the men become hostile.

"Investigating the weather happenings, hugh?" The Sentinels begin to walk closer to Vashti, then jump in surprise as Allie darts out from cover. "Uh...who's that? How many of you are there?" They begin to back up slowly, looking nervous.

She smiled at the men again "You just scared us because we thought you might be bandits! There are a lot of dangers in these woods. And like Vashti said, she takes care of her children."

Ered just rolls his eyes, glad he can't be heard, as Vashti speaks far too openly about all of what they've seen. If they were to survive this, he'd have to talk about this whole "trusting strangers" thing.

The Sentinel frowns at Vashti. "A talking elk, huh? Well, we'll keep an eye out for him or any other strange beasts." He thinks for a minute. "In my professional opinion, you three should head back home. These woods can get pretty dangerous - even without this winter business. While we always appreciate hearing from concerned citizens such as yourselves, you can do the most good back in Heldren. I'll escort you back to ensure your safety and brief the Council on our investigation's progress. My patrolmates..." he nods to his two companions, "will report your information to Captain Rhokar back at the Lodge. We appreciate your efforts, but this is no place for civilians. You've been great little detectives; now it's time to get you back where you belong so we can get our work done." He winks at Allie and pats her on the head. "Wouldn't want a cute little thing like you getting hurt, now, would we?"

The Sentinels scream in surprise and pain as Allie's fire engulfs them. As the flames die, it's clear that all three of them are badly burned (failed saves). The leader waves one of his men away. "Back to the Lodge! Warn the others! We'll take care of them...." Drawing his sword, he steps forward and strikes Allie (take 3pts damage). His comrade-in-arms does the same but misjudges the angle of his swing and misses. The last Sentinel nods to his commander and begins running away from you (and presumably toward the Sentinel Lodge).

Eredhaias/Sigrun:
You hear a sudden *WHOOSH*, the crackling of flames, and men screaming. Then you hear the angry-but-professional voice of the man they've been speaking to. "Back to the Lodge! Warn the others! We'll take care of them...." You also hear receding footsteps and the *thwack* of a weapon striking flesh.

The third Sentinel (narrowly missed by Allie's flame bolt) continues to run away.

Just before Percy's bolt strikes the running man, it begins to shimmer with ever-changing colors and morphs into a long sheetlike material that envelopes the Sentinel and stops him in his tracks. Seconds later, the colorful object fades from view, leaving Percy's victim lying face-up on the ground, his eyes the color of the northern lights.
