Building Ships for Savage Tide

Anyone build any 3-D ships scaled to minis for Savage Tide?

I used the Maiden of the High Seas and had a wicked Sea Wyvern.

Have to see if I can dig up some pics!

I kitbashed a Black Pearl for the Sea Wyvern, and scratch-built a second ship to pull duty as the Blue Nixie or other ships as necessary.

How long did it take to build, how much ink, and does it support white metal figures or sag and bow?

I've considered the Maiden but don't know if I have the technical skills.

Can you post images? Love to see the scale with the minis.

Matthew you not only have some wicked kit bashing skills but a great imagination to create all of that!!! How was the scale when you had it all finished? How did the encounter play out? I know some 3-D stuff doesn't translate as good when the game is in play as it appears.

Here is another thread to check out-

Hey - maybe the Black Bard will post his Wreck photos!
(Still patiently waiting and hoping =D)

Printing out the base and taping to plasticard realty signs took one evening. I already had the ships (each one took no more than an hour to assemble), and I gathered the other parts whenever I spotted them (over the course of several months). Putting the ships together on the tree only took another evening.

About 9 pages (set to 'light ink') for the floorplan.

It was surprisingly sturdy. Heavy items could be placed anywhere except the rope bridge walkways (and that could've been fixed too if I were using metal miniatures). No sagging.

Note: I did not use the Maiden. I had solid miniatures rather than cardstock.

Other than the ones I posted in the thread I linked to? I had also provided a link to a few dozen more pictures in a zip file.

The pirate base floorplan was printed at half-scale... since the original maps were done at 1 square = 10', this was much easier. The ships were also technically a bit smaller than the published maps, but that still allowed for plenty of room.

At that level many of the PC's could fly... but that just caused them to deal with the entire base at once. They were all over the map. However, some of the more important melees ended up being conducted in tight spaces among the branches or smaller ships. The PC's never even reached the top ship, as the opposition started swarming them towards the middle of The Wreck. The 3-D battlefield worked well for me... I just wish I could've used it for more than the one adventure.
