OK, folks! This is the thread for our pre-PaizoCon Meet and Eat event.
The proposed restaurant to eat at this year: The Crab Pot.
The specialty here is the Seafeast. Essentially, the Seafeasts are a big bowl of select clams, mussels, shrimp, crab, with potatoes, corn-on-the-cob, and sausage. They put butcher paper down on the table, and dump the bowl out on it. You get a cracker, mallet, and cutting board and go to it!
If seafood isn't your thing, they do have burgers and salads.
Happy Hour runs from 4pm to 7pm. We could do dinner at 6pm, or we could decide to sit down at 7pm, after happy hour subsides.
Now, to see what the interest is, and to plan for it, I'd like a show of virtual hands here....who's in?

Hey Tim! Count me in! The meet and greet was really fun last year. And then when you go to the con, you feel as if you already know a lot of people.
BTW, how spendy is this place?
Check the link at the top...Seafeasts can be pricey ($15-$30), but the rest is OK. Really your call on what is pricey or not. When I moved out to Seattle from the midwest, I thought EVERYTHING was expensive.
;-)

Actually, there are 2 Korean places in Bellevue....South Gate Garden and Blue Ginger. Both are good, but I was referring to South Gate.
Not sure about the "honest-to-god" qualifier, but they do serve it, along with many other little pickled and salted sidedishes (banchan).

DOH!
Yes, this Meet and Eat at the Crab Pot is on Thursday, June 11th, 2009.
We will start meeting at 5:30-6:00 for the Happy Hour stuff, and move to our tables by 7PM. At least, I think that'll be the plan.
15 people now. Anyone else?
Me flight doesn't arrive until 5:30pm in Seattle on Thursday... Alas. :(
Otherwise, I would be game.

Is this a family friendly event or were you thinking adults only? We are flying in with our 3 teen girls, youngest is 11.
Totally family friendly as far as I'm concerned. Bringing the kids to happy hour wouldn't probably be doable, I'm sure, but you can certainly bring everyone to dinner! Kids have to enjoy wackin' their food!!

Sounds good but I'm still working on finalizing our plans for that day. We are planning on doing some sightseeing but it would be fun to meet some people before the con on Friday. I'll talk to hubby! :)

Dinner at 7 PM. The drinks will be out, but at least you have the dinner.

Thank you for your sacrifice Paris!
I will be making some videos for PaizoCon '09, if it will help any.
Wow. Thanks, Zuxius. That would be very nice of you. Let me know after the con and I'll pass you my contact info. (I'll pay for shipping, too.)
And you're welcome, too. I may gripe about it a little, but I've got a pretty good life and I'm proud of what I do. I'll get to a PaizoCon one day (which, of course, means that you Paizonians need to keep doing this ;-) ). And I did write one of the stories in the fanzine Lilith and Hugo have been working so hard on, so I'm participating in my own way.
I hope you guys have a great meal. Crack open a beer and a dungeness crab for me!
Cheers!
Paris
PS - Hey! I just learned this when I had to check my spelling...Did you know that the scientific name of the dungeness crab is cancer magister? Anyway, I found that interesting.

"Cancer magister"? That rules.
I may try to come by to socialize, but alas the Crab Pot is not in my budget for actually having dinner.
Seriously, I tried to pick somewhere this year that wasn't TOO pricey. There are inexpensive options here!
We are doing the happy hour thing until 7 pm. If you eat from the bar, they have a decent selection of food (burgers, fried seafood, etc). That selection is available until 9 pm on Thursday.
Also, their beginner seafeast is only $14.95 per person, which will be plenty of food, believe me.

I may be confusing it with the Fisherman over on the Seattle waterfront, which is a similar style of place but about double the price (maybe double the food too for all I know - never been).
I might be able to squeeze out for that. I have to see about some time off from work - I actually just recently started working Thursday nights (good timing, eh?).

Cool, it won't be hard to send. However, I will be posting all of them on UTube for your viewing pleasure abroad.

7:00pm Dinner!
Zux has given the approx. meeting times....not durations, silly.
Happy Hour at the Crab Pot runs from 4-7 PM.
I am suggesting folks meet up for Happy Hour between 5:30 and 6 PM. We can go to dinner at any time, really, but I suggested 7PM, so that some of the late arrivals could have dinner with everyone.

Sounds good. Not as good as the following, but good:
5:30pm Steal Underpants
6:00pm ?
7:00pm PROFIT!

I have 24 people for the head count right now. That includes everyone who posted YES here, plus Hugo (who's with me), Wyvern and his wife, and assumes Benchak is dragging N'wah along (for the happy hour of course).
So, 24 and counting......
24 always has a countdown. It's part of the gimmick of the show, silly... :)

I'm curious about this Meet-and-Eat thing. One, I love food. Two, I've never been to Seattle and I'm interested in the food there. But three, I have no transportation to easily get around and experience any of it. I'm taking the shuttle from the airport to the hotel and won't have a rental car...or know my way around.
If there's a means to somehow get to this Meet-and-Eat event, I wouldn't mind participating.
