Your healer is on-board. (and I will always be willing to play with you, Rosey) Yeah, gimme a day to set up the stats. That's the part I hate. especially with so many powers and stuff.
hey guys...im good here... had hoped it wasnt over... glad to see everyone
Good to see you too, Nasserath. If you have Character Builder, I'd be most grateful if you could send me Immeral to add to the pile. Email is spoilered above.
I'll aim to get things properly kicked off by Sunday as Pat (Lavendar), Tieren (Lam) and Cacophonik (Old Chorro) are all either away or pretty busy this weekend.
Meanwhile, I'll post something on the game thread to get us going again.
If we could all regard the first combat as a kind of shakedown cruise, I'd be most grateful. At the end of that, I'd suggest that we re-assess builds as needed.
For your information, I'll run the beast as written. This is not usual for me, but this is a loaner game and I want to be able to hand it back to Rad without him having to make major adjustments because I've done something funky. This means that I won't tamper with the encounters to begin with at all and we can discuss whether you think the level feels right as we go along.
We're rolling again. If you'd like to head over to the game thread, your first map is up. Skill rolls required as well, although with Old Chorro's passive being higher than practically anyone else's combined, much will be revealed as soon as he gets off his horse and takes a sniff around.
Rad - anytime you want to take this back, say the word. I'm having a lot of fun running it, but it's your game!
I did think the first encounter was underpowered, but I'm changing my mind. How's everyone finding keeping track of the extremely tough powers you have? It's a challenge for me, I freely admit as some of the monsters have complex bits as well.
I think they'll be fine. There are seven of them and I'm running it vanilla, so it's scaled for 5. The first combat is always a shake down cruise. I'm going to let everyone re-tool their pcs if they want after this combat finishes.
Folks. Just to let you know that at the end of this combat, I'm proposing to let you all take another look at your pcs and do a re-tool of any powers/effects and what not that you're not happy with.
Don't worry, the only thing that's preventing Theren from being effective is IC's blatent refusal to roll above 10 on a saving throw, and there's nothing I can do about that. Well, something may end up changing if Divine Power comes out before combat ends...
I just spent 2 FRIGGIN HOURS on my profile for Gilliam and Paizo ate it. (took too long and didn't post it) KHANNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I want to punch someone.
Rev, I have the week off. I will at some point update the profile to MS Word perhaps and then tweek it into the profile. I learned my character was actually cooler than I knew. (if the undead wasn't killed when I turned them, they would have been dazed, not immobilized thanks to a feat I forgot I took. stuff like that)
Oh, and I made a mistake in the last battle. Mantle of Glory is a blast, not a burst. Do you want me to calculate the differences or let the sleeping dog lie? The guys behind me would not have gone a surge+7.
Ack to the eaten posts. I've learned the hard way that cut and paste from Word is my best friend.
As far as the power mistakes go, leave it. Done's done and we're all on a learning curve here. One of the reasons for wanting all this stuff in the profiles is so we can all help each other out with effects and what not. It's mighty complex keeping track of it all. Fun though.
Technically, this is scaled for 5 pcs so I should be upping the level a little. However, I think in a pbp, particularly with a whole new set of powers to deal with, that we're about right. If it looks different a bit further down the road, I'll think again.
Speaking of complex characters, O DM, you and I talked backchannel about the possibility of our re-tooling our characters post-first-fight. Is that still in the plans? It might matter soon . . .
Folks, Gilliam is likely leaving which will mean you are down a cleric. Cale is finding the epic play doesn't suit him and I entirely respect that.
Now, if you're happy to continue on without one, we can do so, or we can try and recruit. What I'd personally rather not do is DMPC him except as a short term solution.

Thoughts?
This leaves us without any Leaders, right? Yeah, let's see if we can find a healer of some sort.
Is it too late to throw my hat into the ring for replacement cleric?
I splurged and payed for DDI tools so making a 22 level cleric would be easy for me.
Do be warned that I'm a fiendish mover on of games and you will have 24 hours from your turn coming up to post or I'll post on your behalf. Less if things are moving along fast. Please let me know if that's going to be upsetting for you - the idea is that you know in advance that even if real life gets out of hand, you won't be holding the game up.
Hi Graynore - good to see you again. Eladrin warlord would be splendid, go for it.
Xabulba - you're most welcome. I'd just point out that even with CB, a lot of us had huge problems creating the characters in the first place. I don't say this to discourage you (far from it!) but just so you know.
To both of you, I'd be really grateful if you could get as much detail as possible into your board profiles. We're all keeping a kind of watching brief on each others powers as it's a little complex tracking effects at this level and we've all got all kinds of rather funky magic items which do things in addition to the character powers. It is an unholy pain copying and pasting all the information in, but it makes my life a whole lot easier.
I'd also be grateful if you could email me your character sheets (if you're using CB) at

Let me know if you're happy to go ahead and get rolling. I'll slot you both in at the end of this combat section, so you've got a day or so to play around. My warlock can slip out of play again, which suits me just fine.
Yup, that's fine Graynore. As long as you keep your profile up to date, it's not really an issue, but sometimes a hard copy is handy. And for this party, it's been invaluable.
Unless you've got any rabid objections, you and the rest of the party are all old friends. You've arranged to meet up at a kind of grand adventurer's reunion (as you'll see from this thread and the start of the game thread).
At the moment, the Scoobies are battling demonic forces who have been tormenting your old undead pal Sir Keegan. All of this is taking place in the Keep on the Shadowfell, which you visited on your very first adventure, many, many years ago. Winterhaven and the surrounding lands are in the grip of a horrific chill orchestrated by Koliada. She is a powerful and sinister arch-fey who is variously the Prince of Frost's daughter, sister or lover depending on who you listen to (and possibly all of them).
The current objective is to get rid of the demons and talk to Sir Keegan.
This is the current map. You'll arrive in two turns from the north. The lighter grey areas are destroyed sarcophagi. Post on the game thread, suitably spoilered, giving some idea of what you've been doing.
You will have been alerted by Alasandro, who reckoned the group needed reinforcements and knows that Gilliam's heart is no longer set on adventuring in the wilds. Following the paint-stained warlock's instructions, you have arrived at the Keep and are following the noise and trail of destruction to the tomb.
For ease of reference this is the game thread. Have fun :D
I've been reading through the PbP, and you all have an incredible group. Do you mind sharing exactly how you're facilitating the game (other than the forums, of course)? Which programs the DM uses to make his maps, character software, etc? You seem to have a great setup and I'd like to emulate it.

The maps are made using Fractal Mapper and are, frankly, rather rudimentary compared to some I've seen. I load a plain version into Photobucket and then add the pcs and monsters as text boxes. When they move or their status changes, I just edit the map there.
The character software is (unless I'm much mistaken) mostly the WOTC character builder and a lot of cutting and pasting from the online compendium. It's how I built my own character anyway, but I can't really speak for others.
The rest of it is just the forums, the alias system, Invisible Castle for the rolls and some very battered notebooks at home.
