LJ obliges with a downdraft that is both gentle and strong at the same time.

The Countess Almathrada wrote:

Evil cloaked in the deepest and most terrible shadow of the oldest and brightest light sits on a nearby mountaintop, observing events at the adjacent Eyrie by means of a brass telescope.

At length The Bane of Avsilar, personally responsible for the destruction of the honour and fall of the first and greatest ever dwarven empire with a few well-placed truths, passes the telescope to one of her two companions and picks up her cup of tea.

Things are going to plan, right?

The mistress of the Abyss wipes some stray scone crumbs from her fingers on a napkin, then surveys the scene through the offered telescope.

On this occasion they're turning out exactly how I expected.
One way or another that idiot wizard who jostled me and then failed to apologise at a very important social event is shortly going to be hit by something that will make him wish he had never even begun to dabble in necromancy and had died centuries ago.
He had thirty thousand years to attempt to track me down and apologise, whilst other people climbed slowly to the top of my 'to do' list ahead of him.
Did he even begin to make an attempt?
No.

Shovastika uses the bone-china milk jug and then the silver teapot to top up the cups of tea of herself and her two colleagues placed about the circular polished mahogany picnic-table.

NB
The 'wizard'/necromancer in question who has drawn the (belated) ire of the Countess Almathrada is someone I intend to feature as a one off under my 'chance encounter' alias, and is not intended to be anyone else.

Low cloud from the storms brewing about the Eyrie swirls across the valley betwixt the adjacent peak and the Eyrie. By the time that it eventually clears, the ladies and their cream-tea are long gone, having relocated to less damp climes.

Ugh. I do love driving in a squall... bleh. :)

G'night all!

Back for a bit.

Between Devlyn's grapple, LJ's breeze, CH's magnetism(?), and E7's rain, Aidan's fire begin to fade. He looks up at the sky above and shouts ancient words in Infernal, Abyssal, Ignan, and Draconic.

"Ahgno catr sharoyth furi!"

Circles of magical fire appear everywhere in varying sizes. Their purpose becomes clear as creatures pour from them. From the fiery pits of the Nine Hells and the Abyss, pit fiends and balors fly. From the Plane of Fire soar winged salamders and efreeti. From elsewhere on the material plane red dragon glide through their gates. Elves, thier bodies glowing with magical fire, march out of their gate, armed with spells and spears, both waiting for release.

Norith shar! Deftol!

Biding the conjurer's words, the creatures act. Slamanders wrap themselves aorunf the strange web and melt with the help of cambion azers. Pit fiends and Balors work on dispelling CH's power and E7's rain(and by extension, Sky's storm). The elves launch meteor swarms and spears aflame with magic at the group, while red dragons breath fire down upon them. Two efreeti pull Devlyn off Aidan and throw him Allura. Aidan hovers and laughs maniacally.

"Who's up for a little Trial by Fire?"

Any of your summoned creatures are immediately thrown back to their plane of origin as soon as they attack, the wards flaring as they block the flames. Those creatures that come from Hell take damage as they are banished. You are, after all, trying to attack within an area with well-established, often specified wards.

If I may remind of Moonschild's second post...

Aidan Moonschild wrote:
Floating down, covered in black flames that burn through the wards, Aidan laughs.

Now, I had no intention of summoning in the monsters when that was posted, but I'm going with it now. I could however, say that I now the wards won't be down for long. After all, Aidan just used a lot of power just bringing his Army of Fire here to the Eyrie. He's not out of it yet, but he may be soon(depending on how this all plays out). BTW, sorry.

Ah. I missed the burning through the wards part. I would have mentioned repairing them if I had seen it. I'm still saying they get one attack each and then poof. And no problem. Posts were flying hast and furious earlier. It was easy to miss a detail here and there.

I noticed. If you look back at some of the posts that were replied, some of them don't match the replies. My fault really, I keep thinking of better ways to write them. But that wasn't what I was saying sorry about. Think I'll keep that a secret till more are around to be, how should I put it, mortified? Or perhaps even shocked and angry? I know some people will be.

Also, by your own words, Devlyn at least should be on a different plane(if the wards hadn't been burned away that is, I assume you'll replace them soon.). I'll explain later. (^~^)

E7's eyes burn with anger and disappointment.

"So be it."

Elemental power surges in his hands/branches.

It was a corner case since he was attacking but nonlethally and without intent to do harm. It could be argued either way really.

Point to you. But, Aidan isn't one of the Servents(it was the Servents, right?) you altered the wards for. When they go back up, it is possible neither side will be able to attack.

Emperor7 wrote:

Elemental power surges in his hands/branches.

"Light and Darkness, Fire and Rain, Earth and Wind, hear my plea. Seal this breach and shield the free!"

The elements are woven together, and both light and dark are joined. A shield of prismatic energy forms over the Eyrie and grows.

"A challenge? How enjoyable. Let's see..."

"Shadows and Suns, Flame and Ice, Gales and Sands, hear my cry!
Remove the shield so they may fry!"

Despite his attempt at mixed elemental magic, Aidan can only creates holes in the prismatic shield. Even that is taxing. He signals to a salamander and a cambion azer, and nods. They both disappear.

"You say you wish me no harm, yet you attack me and want to make me to feel pain. You know nothing about me, nothing! I try to distract you with a small forest fire, so I may leave, and my own so-called brother betrays me! Loss, pain, grief. All are consumed by the Flame. I'm happy now, and all you want to do is keep me from being happy. Leave me alone!"

Those last three words come out as a scream, and lava explodes from the ground around the Eyrie, causing the air to heat up and dry out.

The power that was herself underneath the power of the goddess began to come through as everything and everyone she loved was threatened on all sides, some of those threats much too familiar. Her whole body began to glow brighter and brighter. Much too bright to look at. That power ran through the Eyrie. This is one seriously powerful protection from evil that is moving through the Eyrie.

"NO! This is not being happy. This is hurting others and taking joy in it. If that is your choice, then you will have to live with its consequences

For just a moment, the old Aidan shines past the shadowy flames, a grim smile on his face. It looks a bit forced.

"I said I was happy, not that I was having fun."

She steps forward, the glow increasing even more until it's hard to even glance in her general direction.

"You want to hurt someone? You need to lash out to make your pain less? Okay, Aidan. Go ahead. I'm right here. I've been through hotter flame than anything you can summon. I can take it. Do your worst."
Her voice was soft, barely above a whisper, but as easily heard as if she had been shouting.

Looking forward to it. :) I threw down the gauntlet just to make things a little more interesting.;)

"Fire has always been the most vain element. Greedy in its short-lived life."

"Your life does not measure up to the destruction you demand for your 'happiness'"

"Go. Join the one you worship. Join his circus of destruction."

In the midst of the conflict, CH's eyes darken once again. The darkness spreads over his body, then it fades altogether. He has disappeared along with the dark.

A cool breeze remains where he stood.

Not sure how much I'll be able to participate in this scenario. Things at work are finally moving forward again. :)

There is a great stirring amongst the Servants. Kobold Cleaver is shouting.
"Get some men on it, then! Bring at least one water mage, and a fire mage if we can spare it! Get rid of the fire if possible, otherwise try to save the trees!"
Suddenly, an old, ragged-looking man accompanied by a younger man in armor flies up to Kobold Cleaver and whispers something in his ear. Kobold Cleaver looks surprised, then nods uncertainly. The man says something back, and KC seems to lose his temper. "I don't care, a Champion I shall remain whilst this siege continues!" He orders the old man away, but allows the man in armor to approach the borders of the Eyrie, mounted on a giant eagle.

"People of the Eyrie! I, Tarvek, Fourth Captain of teh Servants of the Board, come bearing vital news! Despite your hostilites to ourselves, we come to tell you that, as a Champion, your 'Aiden' is in significant danger! We have recently discovered that occasionally, those few Champions who live past the need for them may become a threat to the peace!"

Suddenly, up on the Sanctuary, the heat from the fire causes a great surprise. The entire Sanctuary, formerly frozen solid, explodes in an enormous blast of ice shards. The dragon opens his eyes, and the shards stop in midair.
"What is this?" He spots Aidan fighting (from his perspective) Lynora and her allies. He hesitates, then flies down to Lynora.
:Take the boy up to the Sanctuary. I can dispose of him for you:

A voice whispers on the wind.

"Tarvek. Fourth Captain of the Servants. Why do you hide your soul?"

The eagle beneath Tarvek falters, as spirits try to force it towards the Eyrie grounds.

"I name you criminal."

"The Daughter of the Wind the victim."

:It is not so simple as that, Frost, though I sincerely appreciate your offer of aid. The boy still has some chance to be saved.:

The glow that emanates from her is blinding and it is painful to even try to look at her.

"Well, Aidan? What are you waiting for? You want to strike out at someone to show how powerful you are, start with me."

Just reiterating for dramatic effect and to keep Aidan's attention on her in spite of the distractions.

"My child." The last words carry the chill of death.

"Feel free to speak to the latest victim of the Flame. If he does not kill you I will. There is a special place in the spirit world for those such as you."

"We did not intend to harm the child. As a matter of fact, she was the first to attack to kill. We lost a good man because of her." His voice is bitter. He is silent for a moment, then continues in a calm voice again. "But you say that Aidan has succumbed to the flame? This is terrible news. I must report to my master." He directs the eagle to leave, and the eagle seems glad to be gone. They fly back to their forces, where they soon vanish from sight.

"You are a fool. A kind-hearted fool, but one nonetheless. The Flame will consume anything left of the boy, and many more innocents."

"How many loved ones will die for your kindness?"

"I cannot hold these shields forever. Nor can I summon an army to match this. The Green will let the Purge happen and rebuild, salvaging what we can."

"It is your choice. Make it. Before someone else does it for you."

Frost seems quite interested in making a choice, but keeps himself from doing so.

The voice follows easily.

"Yet you admit attacking. And you would claim your actions compare with those of a child defending herself in the only way she knows."

"You hide in false intentions and semantics."

"Your spirit is marked. You are already dead."

Emperor7 wrote:

"You know, I always end up making the same choice. They will not die. I might. I have before. But I don't think I will this time. Not this time. Sky, don't forget to fix the wards. It's important."

Not that anyone could see it through the light surrounding her, but she had on what Yorri referred to as her stubborn face.

"There's no such thing as hopeless."

The light spread out moving towards Aidan, forming a bubble around the two of them.

Okay, there's a protection from evil up that should help against the summoned creatures. Also, once the wards go back up, they all go away anyhow. The light doesn't do anything to hurt Aidan. It basically is creating a demiplane where they can face off without anyone else getting hurt. It's not a prison, he can break out of it if he wishes, but not back into the Eyrie.

A man-shaped form of blackness appears, then coalesces into CH.

"Well, that's one less fool. Kinda liked his eagle though. Tough spirit that old bird had." he shrugs, and looks towards the bubble and sighs

"Not again... Well, it's better than turning this whole place to slag."

Lilsa wanders out of her room, looking dazed. When she sees Lynora and the others, she runs to them.
"What's going on? Listen, there's a spirit bound in the Place of the Winds, and it's not happy to be there. I need to go free it. Do any of you know the way?"

You're really gonna trust CH on this one? Save the vessel for the Mask? Discarded for now, but party at one time?

I believe the original quote was something along the lines of 'he went along with enough of it that I'm in no hurry to rescue him'. Yeah, he can pretty much decide to do things whichever way he wants to and she won't be at all upset. :)
