I can't believe people do these things :-(

What I find hillarious while at the same time terrifyingly sad is the reason the grandfather "knew" he was a witch. He would beat him with switches which if any of you don't know are flexible thin sapling rods that sting like a sonamab!+@$ and can leave cuts and welts, to beating him with a broom handle, which is a solid wooden pole. When the kid wouldn't cry from a switch but cried from what is in essence a thin bat, the guy knew he was a witch. Stupidest thing I've ever read.

Yes I do Little Jimmy, If you look over there in the back of my secret Laboratory, you will notice JFK in Cryo right next to the real Barack Obama. I replaced them both with a clone.

The new controversy over the Chrysler dealership closings.

Were dealerships targeted for closure because they made big Republican donations, or were Chrysler dealerships just disproportionately Republican to begin with?

The party which never cared about the conflict of interest in defense industry donations to themselves is absolutely shocked something like this could happen.

The significance of this is that drawings of fictional personalities were ruled as child porn--not photos of real children, drawings, and manga drawings, at that.

The next logical step is to begin culling written work--if that happens, Stephen King is going to prison; him an a lot of other writers.

They probably did it to draw attention from the Paedophiles hiding in the religious right. Lets burn some churches and court houses...

BETTER IDEA: lets employ an army of web hackers, spys, and other garbage scroungers to investigate, monitor, and spy on the town and all its citizens where this occured and after a year, make all their secrets publicly available to the rest of the world. If Manga is porn, so is religion, private conversation, financial dealings, transactions and what goes on in the bedroom.

Lets have all the court officials investigated as well and their deepest darkest secrets exposed. If the judge has even associated with someone guilty of a Crime - that should go on the front page of the Newspaper.

The stupid burns. But the Comstock crew is always waiting for a chance to clamp us back into Victorian censorship mode.

I guess it's ok to have a teenaged actor play a teenage prostitute (see: Jodie Foster) or books about fictional pedophiles (see: Vladimir Nabokov), but how dare somebody draw a dirty picture of a fictional child.

Seriously, this boggles the mind. How is this any different from owning a copy of Lolita or slash fanfic?

So what? If no children were exploited in the making of the picture, and nobody has suggested that any were, then what's the problem? Where is the harm that cries for justice to be done?

You of all people should be aware that justice is irrelevant if an act or object violates morality.

The Law must be Logical, or Tyranny and Corruption is rampant.

Actually I have seen one:

Stay out Kids! You are Not even allowed to know the name of it!

Spoiler:
Its an Anime called KITE, that would definatly qualify as very Bad (its R Rated but it is still about the sexual abuse - though you dont particularly see it occuring you know it went on in the story gaps- of a minor by a cop using her as a trained Assassin

Or that it was on sale in KMART in the Kids section - simply because it was anime.

Its in the 'never watch again' bin.

The only violation of morality I see here is with the guy going to jail. He's the one who has been wronged.

Cop shoots cop, and kills him.

It is ironic that the all too often lax rules which allow cops to fire their weapons for "officer safety" this time directly led to the death of an officer.

Last year sometime, IIRC, LiveJournal deleted any fanfic that dealt with mature topics and the Harry Potter cast (which, fanfic being fanfic, numbered in the many thousands), labeling it 'kiddie porn.' It's not the same thing as legal action being taken, but the stage has already been set for that sort of action.

Some group of dudes calling themselves the Warriors of Innocence or something was apparently heavily involved in rooting out and reporting the fanfic, since these grown men's hobbies apparently involve reading *thousands* of examples of what they consider 'kiddie porn.' Yeah, that's not creepy. At all. I wonder if they saved the juiciest examples to read again, just to make sure?

Season two of Buffy had a not-yet-old-enough-to-be-legal-in-California Buffy Summers getting it on with her vampire boyfriend. Is Joss Whedon headed for the slam? Should Sarah Michelle Gellar and David Boreanaz seek legal counsel, lest they be tried for making child pornography?

Ah, what a glorious mess, when we strive to oppress.

It's a mess the Supremes made too. Rather than saying that the First Amendment meant what it said: no law means no law, they decided that it meant no law unless the local bluenoses take offense. Then you can censor anything into oblivion.

The 'yaoi fangirl' is a stereotype, too. A growing one, that gets mostly a free pass, under the view that it's 'cute'.

Kite was actually a really good movie; the ending was heart-wrenching. In the version I saw, the abuse was strictly implied, and served to drive home how evil the villain was. However, it's my understanding that there's a director's cut in which the abuse is depicted. Mezzo Forte has a similar director's cut. The "director's cuts" are basically hentai versions...

Which is why even the "implied abuse" will land its posessor in Jail under this anti-Manga ruling. So if you live in America, you might want to keep your collection in a sealed watertight drum buried under the chicken shed...or some place else now I mentioned it...until they come to their senses and realize a Federal Film, television, electronic Game, Art, and Book Censorship Bureau is there to do the job of screening out the kiddie Porn so that States dont violate acceptable freedoms like assassinating Presidents and Judges...on account of their sudden rise in popularity.

Apparently the version I saw was a director's cut, then. It was...umm, yeah. I really wish I could unsee that one. Very disturbing. And it was in the anime section in Blockbuster, no age restriction on who could rent it. I don't think it was porn. Just not suitable for kids to watch.

Same here: I found it in KMART in the Childrens Disney Animation/Anime section. I thought it was just a 'Cop asassinating the corrupt' type film. Certainly unsuitable for Adults or children to watch.

If they had made that as a Live action Movie in the USA, They would have executed the Writer, Director, Film crew, Actors, and Parents of the children, and then Put the Children into Welfare...before burning the film and anyone who may have seen it.

No actually: It is this amazing economic model where GM declares Bankrupt, uses the Billion dollar loan they got from Canada to pay off creditors and short change the canadians in this 'hard luck story where they went broke'; then Rebuild using the US money as a Share purchase (after bonusing their Executives for doing this amazing job of cutting jobs without ever having to pay out the laid off workers entitlements); and now they can keep China out by claiming US Government ownership as a Strategic matter.
