And what's so bad about being in Australia? I'm quite fond of being here. ;)

Ah yes, I have had this happen to me before and I can fully understand your pain. I have learned that it is best to either:

1) Select everything before you hit Submit/Save and Right Click/Copy.
2) If it is something long like a profile, do it in a word doc and then copy/paste.
I actually have a blank template saved in a word doc for when I am making a new Character Profile. I just copy/paste the blank data and then fill in from there, copying and saving periodically as I go.

You're probably not in the mood to hear it right now but it helps trust me.

I'm in the UK, with my experience with PBPs here you end up with a smattering from all over.

Seconded. I've got people from everywhere in most of my PbPs (although with the amount I'm in it's not that hard).

it's not bad i admire the people and everything, but it's to hot and just not the right place for me to be=)

Good to know I'm not the only non American here=)

And yes copying first helps, that happened to me as well=(

Also if i dunno maybe you could all post the times your usually on
to see if i have to get up at one in the morning to post or not=)

I find it usually doesn't matter if everyone is on at the same time or not. PbPs move at their own pace and you just roll with it rather than trying to put yourself out to conform with everyone else.

I myself could be on at anytime during the day (except maybe between 3am and 8am) depending on my schedule/kids/work/wife.

OK started copying Stats, so I'll be done by time we start.

Lynora:
For equipment there is one thing I wanted to ask: Do you have Dragon #348? There is some Armour in there I wanted to use. It is called Twisted Silk (and it is probably my favourite type of Armour bar none). I'll write down the stats for you, but you might want to look up the article ('cause it's quite good and actually has a lot of useful equipment in it).

Spoiler:

Twisted Silk
Light Armour
Cost: 400gp
Armour Bonus: +3
Max DEX Bonus: +7
Armour Check Penalty: 0
Arcane Spell Failure Chance: 5%
Speed: 30ft/20ft
Weight: 15lb.
Rare and valuable, twisted silk armour uses silk wound around strands of mithril to generate protection with very little weight. It superficially resembles a very well made form of padded armour but offers much greater defence. The silk keeps it silent and the twisted strands are surprisingly durable.

Also:

Spoiler:

Due to her alignment and heritage, I was thinking about her being forced to assist the Nightwatch because of something she did. Maybe she wears a bracelet or some other magical item that either damages her or even geases her to make her serve the Nightwatch's interests. What do you think?
Otherwise I will change her alignment to Chaotic Good and alter her Deity to something a little more friendly.
Cheers

I do indeed have that issue, and I'm fine with you having that armor. As for the other,

Spoiler:
That works fine. Due to the general squishiness of watchmen in that neighborhood, it's not uncommon for criminals to have to serve as part of the watch as a way of paying their debt to society.

and i'm betting most of you are in America?

So while if you lot get on roughly at the same time you can probably get one or two rounds done, where as i will only be able to post once because it will probably be the middle of the night or very early morning for me when your all posting=(

Actually, I'm in ore than one PBP with people from all over the world. It really doesn't slow things down that much if at all. It's one of the cool things about PBP.

looking forward to the map:) do you have a map of chance aswell? i love city maps!

Sadly, I do not have a map of Chance made yet. Although I will certainly be working on mapping the Warrens at least. The city itself is just so big that it's difficult to get it all done. So far Docktown and the Warrens are the only areas I even have roughed out.

Yeah, sorry, I've been kinda quiet today since I have the flu. Your background looks good. I don't see anything there that needs changing.

Dark Archive

Quick question: Do spell/items dealing with extradimensional spaces (such as secret chest, rope trick, handy haversack, etc) exist in your setting?

Yep. It has its own pocket astral plane, that doesn't connect to the bigger astral plane.

Scarab Sages

do the Nightwatch get any kind of standard equipment? like cure potions, Nightwatch (uniform) outfit (traverlers outfit or something else), manacles, etc...?

Scarab Sages

hope you feel better too.

Get well soon and remember to re-hydrate.

Somos looks awesome so far, and hurray for another non-fingerwaggler in the Nightwatch.

Liandra Nightwind wrote:

Well I am a finger waggler, but only inso far as I waggle my fingers in the dying bodies of my foes as I tear them limb from limb!

OK, probably not quite, but I am a Melee Caster (although that doesn't mean I won't have Blaster spells, just that there's 4 levels of Fighter and 2 of Rogue thrown into my build at various points along my progression). Just sayin'...

;)

Aww, hope you get better soon. Sick=bad.

Things are shaping up nicely. I'm looking forward to seeing what all these characters can do!

Liberty's Edge

Do feel better, and I too am looking forward to things. (Just piping in to let you know I'm still following the conversation, even though I had quieted down, since my char is mostly done).

Crunch is ready... still have some $ to spend on equipment and some magic.
Anyone have ideas on what would be some good small magic items?
Still working on the background, I have it in my head but I need to type it up.
Do we have any dwarves, gnomes, halflings in our Nightwatch group?

In what price range?

So far a Feyri, a half elf. I don't think any dwarves or hobbits

fray wrote:

There's a badge. They don't give uniforms in the Warrens. It's like painting a big target on anyone wearing one. And yes, everyone gets a set of manacles as standard issue gear. Other than that, watchmen are responsible for their own gear, although Nico (your lt.) will usually find a way to supplement the gear of those who are financially unable to provide for themselves.

Bribes, er....donations. Yes, donations, are a great way to supplement official income.

Not that ol' Harden would ever do something like that. Of course not....

"awww is your shop being robbed? Sorry Mr. No-Bribe, there's nothing we can do. Limited resources and all, you understand."

You do now. Sorry it took so long. Being sick really took it out of me. I'll start getting the ball rolling a little more quickly in the next couple of days, I promise.

Lynora,
Let me know if this works for you.
It is very rough right now, I will get it cleaned up more later.

Dark Archive

Ok, better now. Garan will have his full stats and write up by the end of the day. (I already have it saved to a word doc, so its just a copy and paste job now, not on my computer right now or i'd have it up already).

Anything I should be aware of concerning Aboleths in this world? Underwater life? Any sort of history for that region?

There are rumored to be aboleths, but they keep to themselves. Supposedly they live near Nexus, but with all the whirlpools that surround the island, no one has ever gotten close enough to know for sure. There is a great deal of underwater life. Much like on the surface, there is a smattering of everything. There is an island in Chance's bay that serves as a home for many aquatic races. Also, there are a few aquatic races that interact with the fishermen of Mertan's Cove. Kuo-toa are a constant menace and have made the waters near Vaelyn near uninhabitable for many aquatic races, so there is a good deal of cooperation between them and the Sorrynese Navy, as a way of ensuring that the Navy will continue to provide protection for their settlements along the coast of Sorryn.

Absolutely great :) I didn't see any problems with the stats, and the background was terrific.

Cooperation between "who" and the Sorrynese Navy? The Kuo-toa or the other aquatic races that interact with the fishermen of Mertan's Cove?

The other aquatic races. THe Kuo-Toa are a menace that have recently begun attacks along the coast of Vaelyn. The Sorrynese Navy fights to keep them from establishing a presence along the coast of Sorryn.

Liberty's Edge

Out of curiosity, I chose Aquan as a language because I was trying to reflect on a lot of his time out at sea and with the water. If the Kua Toa play so prominently in the seas of this part of the world, would it make more sense for him to have that as a language instead?

Good thought, but the Kuo-Toa are a pretty recent threat so not many have studied them. Up to you which you want.

Liberty's Edge

No worries, if they are fairly recent then I will leave it as is for now. I'm sure over the next couple levels I'll be trying to pick up most of the languages that the rest of the group speaks and I'm sure kua toa will be in the list too.
