It's more the attitude than the hair, but I have seen some pictures of Mr. Mona with quite the 80's hairspray do, so I wouldn't put it past him.

I have yet to see Mona truly bring the metal, but he knows I'll be prepared to back him up should he ever feel the need to take the mic.

A similar offer stands for James Jacobs, should he ever desire a reunion of Operation Banjo Thug.

There's gotta be karaoke somewhere close to the hotel.

Rock Band or Guitar Hero?

What I really want to know is whether Mona still listens to metal. If so, what metal?

I used to listen to metal in my highschool days as well, but now my metal can pretty much be summed up two categories:

Iron Maiden
Whatever happens to be on the radio

And the stations I listen to rarely play it. And even when they do play it, I usually change the station unless its Ozzy or Judas Priest (nobody plays Maiden).

Iron Maiden Rocks!!! Too bad no stations has the balls to play them... Here's to the days of the GODS OF METAL!!! Rock on Erik!

I do still listen to metal.

On my way into work this morning, I listened to The Sword's Age of Winter album, which is about the only "new" metal I've bought since the 80s.

I do have a two-disk metal mix in my car right now as well. Let me see if I can dig up a playlist...

Ah, I knew I posted it to my blog a while back...

AM I EVIL?
----------
Diamond Head: Am I Evil
Motorhead: The Ace of Spades
Metallica: The Four Horsemen
Iron Maiden: Two Minutes to Midnight
Megadeth: The Conjuring
Metallica: Creeping Death
Iron Maiden: Aces High
Metallica: Breadfan
Anthrax: I am the Law
White Zombie: Thunder Kiss '65
Megadeth: 502
Anthrax: Caught in a Mosh
Slayer: Seasons in the Abyss
Suicidal Tendencies: Feel Like S@@* (Deja Vu)
Metallica: Last Caress/Green Hell
Megadeth: My Last Words
Metallica: Am I Evil?

That's a pretty good snapshot of my favorite metal bands (and some of my favorite songs) right there.

I should add that I do not _only_ listen to metal, and went a good 10 years during which I never listened to metal at all.

Also in my 6-disk changer at the moment:

Charlotte Gainsbourg: 5:55
Brigitte Bardot: Show
The Flying Burrito Brothers: Best of
Homestead: Home made mix including Serge Gainsbourg, Tenacious D, lots of 60s French pop, Air, etc.

That's actually a good mix. I'm familiar with most of the songs there and I can't think of a single one that isn't good. At least you didn't whip out a list of buttrock by Poison, White Snake, Cinderella, Warrant, and other bands too numerous to remember who all played a role in ruining '80s metal.

In case anyone is wondering, my current playlist includes the following albums:

U2 - No Line on the Horizon and All that You Can't Leave Behind
Stone Temple Pilots - Purple
Pearl Jam - Binaural and Riot Act
Iron Maiden - Brave New World and Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
Foo Fighters - Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace
Radiohead - In Rainbows and OK Computer
Collective Soul - Blender

I try to hike about two miles here in town (very hilly) about three times a week, so I pop on an album on my MP3 player and head out.

As has been pointed out before, Erik represents the old school metal at Paizo, and I hold down the newer stuff... also known as "that damn screaming." :)

Discs in current rotation in my car:

Architects - Hollow Crown
Architects - Ruin
Oh, Sleeper - When I Am God
Misery Signals - Of Malice and the Magnum Heart
Misery Signals - Mirrors
UnderOath - Lost in the Sound of Separation
