"I can cast a spell of invisibility if shapechanging will not suffice."

This is a power from my cleric domain of trickery.

Female Half Elf Cleric/6

Amie thinks for a moment. “That may work if Hans can not take the way our friend described at the bottom of the well. Our friend said that only some one small would be able to fit. If no one can fit down there, then maybe he can guide you invisible to Yalla.”

Liberty's Edge

"Mind you now, the invisibility would only last for a very short while. I can also make myself look just like a hobgoblin for several hours."

Invisibility can be cast on anyone, but will last for only six rounds. I can cast disguise self, which will last an hour. And I can cast that three times a day.

Male Halfling Sorcerer (Fey) 1/Druid 5

"As I told you before, Miss Amie, I cannot make myself smaller than I am. Although with practice, that may change..." A quick glance between Hans and the cat reveals that the halfling is at least twice the size.

"I also know the song to make myself and maybe a couple of others so that the eye cannot find them, for a brief period of time". "In addition if we stay close together I can keep us from the knowledge of the ear".

Hans

Spoiler:
You know that at your level, a lynx or bobcat would be about as small as you could get, as a house cat would be considered a "tiny" animal. There are several varieties of snakes, though, that are considered "small" due to their length, but in terms of their thickness would be able to squeeze into places that normally only "tiny" creatures could get into. Bear in mind, though, that as a 5th Level Druid, you've only got one Wild Shape per day (unless you chose the Extra Wild Shapes feat), so once you got inside, you'd either have to do everything you're going to do while remaining in animal form, or you'd have to find a different way out.

Female Half Elf Cleric/6

Amie begins thinking again including these new options. “Perhaps we could go in together and then at some point we could split up into two groups. Sevegny, you and Reds Feather appear to have the most enchantments for stealth. We could as a group get as close as possible to Yalla, then the two of you could follow our feline friend to Yalla using your abilities and the rest of us could create a distraction else where in the manor. Once you find Yalla you can release her and if needed heal her, then either join the fight or get out by the same means you got in.”

Amie then turns to the cat once again, “How close could you get us to Yalla before we would be discovered?”

Liberty's Edge

Sevegny nods. "I'll do my best."

"Why worry about stealth? Let us show these fools what might we posess and destroy them whilst they gawk! I tire of stalking about, speaking to cats. Let us head inside this place. I will walk boldly into danger; if the rest of you wish to slink into the shadows, feel free to use my display as a diversion!"

Diego strolls straight toward the Manor toward the nearest door, eager to be in action once more.

Male Halfling Sorcerer (Fey) 1/Druid 5

Hans grins. "Sounds good to me! Onward, mangy!" He kicks the sides of his wolf and the beast moves into a moderate lope.

Female Half Elf Cleric/6

“Wait!” Amie calls after them. “I am proposing stealth for Yalla’s safety. If we rush in there they may out right kill her or use her as a type of human shield! We will fight them. But we must draw them away from Yalla first so she may be rescued. This is akin to a hostage situation. We must put Yalla’s safety above our desire to out right destroy the enemy!”

Diego calls over his shoulder, "Very well then! You be stealthy and we'll distract them to give you time to save the woman! Good luck!"

Liberty's Edge

Sevegny's features reshape into that of a burly hobgoblin.

"Either way, I'll need the cat to take me to Yalla."

Female Half Elf Cleric/6

Amie shakes her head and turns Sevegny. “Here,” she says as she draws a thunderstone from her pack, “take this. If you decide to get out of the manor instead of joining the fight use this to signal us. I can’t imagine that we wouldn’t be able to hear it. Then take Ben and get away, back into the woods I think. I have sent word to Lady Amaranth, hopefully she will come soon. We’ll find you later.”

She then turns to the cat. “Will you please take my shape shifting friend to Yalla? I promise to pay you one all of this is over. I’m sure you will be able to find me.”

She turns to the rest of the group. “I guess lets get going. We should try to find the spirits of Lord Blackmoor and his family. They may help us. They don’t want the Red Hand here. If we promise to leave and take the Red Hand with us, they may be able to cause a distraction as well.”

Diego and Hans continue their frontal assault on the manor...

Hey, guys, sorry I've been absent. Computer problems! I think I'm back up and running, though, mostly. I still have to restore a couple programs, including Acrobat 9.0, which is what I use to make my maps, and I will get those put back on tomorrow, so I will then be able to get up the maps for the Manor.

Tate and Johnny stay close to Diego and Hans. They have bows ready.

"Don't get close to the yeti, and whatever you do, don't look directly at the catoblepas crossbreed."

Female Half Elf Cleric/6

Amie looks at the rest at the group as they walk away. She shakes her head a bit and then looks up to the sky. “Erastil, please guide us in this endeavor,” she whispers and then takes off after the rest of them while readying her bow.

Couple of quick questions, this is the next day right, so reset on the spell list? And if it is the next day I would like to make a few rolls regarding changing Johnny’s alliance and all that.

The Exchange

Me - male; my characters - usually female Depends which day it is 20th Level Metalhead

Yes, spells are reset. For those of you who have to choose your spells each day (wizards, druids), now would be a good time to select which spells you have prepared. Everyone is at full hit points, too.

I'll have a map up tomorrow (I'm downloading Campaign Cartographer 3 right now, which does maps a whole lot better than just scrawling them out with Acrobat or Paint Shop Pro). For now, I'll give you a general description.

The yard from the fence to the walls of the house is about 60 feet across on the front and right sides. It is about 30 feet across at the rear and ten feet at the left side. At the rear and left sides, the lawn ends at a steep cliff overlooking a deep chasm with a fast moving river flowing at its bottom. At least two hobgoblins can be seen patrolling the front lawn. They move in opposite directions, slowly pacing the length and breadth of the front and right sides of the house, following the fence until it ends at the cliffs, meeting and exchanging positions about every five minutes. The well is in the front yard about halfway across (halfway from fence to wall, and halfway from corner to corner) to the left of the double gate in the fence.

Female Half Elf Cleric/6

Has every thing been figured out in regards to the spoils of the last battle. We really should have that stuff done before jumping into another one as some of that stuff might be used, like the armor and weapons and all.

Male Halfling Sorcerer (Fey) 1/Druid 5

Hans took the ring of protection +1.

Female Half Elf Cleric/6

Amie was interested in the Lens and a Master worked Glaive so she could take off the blade and make a staff (btw was I able to do that?).

I was more so talking about the Silent Armor and the Oath Bow. Those things were the most disputed and are likely to be used in battle.

The Exchange

Me - male; my characters - usually female Depends which day it is 20th Level Metalhead

What I think I'm going to do is invent a new magic item, which will affect all of you, for the purpose of making it easier to divy up treasure. It's like a bag of holding, but it also has removable compartments (as many as are needed to accomodate everyone in the party). The removable pouches will magically adhere themselves to your own packs and will allow you to remotely access anything that is placed in the bag, no matter where you are at. That way items that are hard to decide upon can become "community property" and can be called upon by any character that wants to use it, first come, first served (if two characters want to use an item at the same time, they'll roll initiative, and whoever has the highest gets to the item first).

One thing about that, though - remember that the Oathbow sticks with an enemy once it is assigned one, so if that target escapes the battle, then the bow will still grant its bonuses only for that target until it is hunted down and killed, and the character that assigned the target will still take penalties when using any weapon other than the Oathbow until the target is hunted down and killed, even if s/he returns it to the bag. So if you assign a particular hobgoblin as the target, and it flees the battle, then you put the bow back in the bag, if another character draws the bow out of the bag before that hobgoblin is found and killed, then it will operate only as a normal masterworked bow for the second character.

Obviously, it would be more useful for weapons and other immediate-use items than it would be for armor, because if you call armor out of the bag, then you still have to take the time to put it on, and your enemies aren't going to graciously stand by while you do that.

The Community Treasure Bag is not a resellable item, it has no gold piece value. It is purely for mechanics and for easing the burden of freight and distribution for the party.

The Exchange

Me - male; my characters - usually female Depends which day it is 20th Level Metalhead

By the way, I looked again at the item description for the Oathbow, and I told you guys wrong on it. The +5 bonus against the target, and the -1 penalty to any weapon other than the Oathbow last until the target creature is killed, or seven days, whichever comes first. So it isn't perpetual like I thought it was. If you lose the target, it'll revert back to normal after seven days.

It took two days to reach this place, so you can make three rolls for Redemption on Johnny, one for the day you met him, and one each for the two days of travel, assuming that you guys rested and healed before setting out. The rolls will be Diplomacy checks.

Also, I don't see any reason why you can't remove the blade from the glaive and turn it into a quarterstaff. The entire weapon was masterworked, meaning that the pole is essentially a masterworked quarterstaff. But using it as a quarterstaff, it will only have the normal 5' reach of a quarterstaff, it won't have the 10' reach of a glaive, since you typically wield a staff by the middle and not by the ends.

As Amie turns away from the oak tree, she notices the branches dip just slightly.

A few moments later, there is a crack of thunder as storm clouds begin to gather to the west, across the chasm. A light rain begins to fall, but within minutes the sky to the west has taken on a dark and ominous appearance. Flashes of light lick the bottoms of the clouds, and the occasional lightning bolt strikes into the chasm. The patrolling hobgoblins halt at the far ends of their respective routes, warily eying the storm.

What is everyone doing? There is a hobgoblin at the edge of the chasm to the northeast of the house, where the thin red dotted line ends (the dotted line running halfway between the fence and the house), and the other one is at the other end of that line, near the southwest corner of the house). For the moment, neither of them are looking toward the well, the towers or the front door.

Liberty's Edge

What should we do? Storm the front door?

Female Half Elf Cleric/6

Amie looks at the rather sudden storm. “Hmmm, some how I feel Lady Amaranth is responsible for that,” she says quietly. “At least it has our foes distracted.” Look at the two goblins sanding well away from each other she begins weighing the options.

“Well the way I see it, we have three options. One, we sneak to the door and hope those goblins don’t turn around and see us. Two, we out right charge them, catching them off guard but risking alerting any foes inside of our presence. Three, we let Tate try and snipe at them with that new Oath bow we picked up and take them out silent like. I recommend the third.”

Here are my rolls for Johnny. Amie would have cast Vision of Heaven each time (I think that means I start out this scene with a spell reset minus one level one spell, right?). Also if it helps the first one Amie would have done at the small shrine that Tate had set up in the clearing. He did say it was dedicated to Erastil.

Diplomacy Rolls.

Liberty's Edge

"If one guard sees the other shot, he'll raise the alarm. We have to keep one distracted while Tate goes to work."

"You have more faith in my abilities than I have. I think it would only be possible to drop the guards if I get within twenty five feet or so of them. I can shoot a few arrows before they respond, but if the arrows don't take them down, we will have to storm them. Perhaps this would be a good time for Johnny to show his allegiance, by going and talking to them while I position myself.

If any of you can turn invisible, now would be a very good time to let us know."

Liberty's Edge

"I have a prayer to make a person invisible. But it lasts for but a fleeting moment."

6 rounds, I think.

The Invisibility spell lasts one minute (10 rounds) per level. So if you cast it, it will last one hour.

Yes, this is the 3rd day, so you will be minus one 1st level spell for the day.

Here are Johnny's resistance rolls. He takes -5 to each (-1 for the Vision of Heaven spell, and -4 for the gold dragon blood in him), which I forgot to add in, so the rolls cited here are adjusted from the rolls actually shown in the link.

So those are all successful attempts. Because he was actively seeking to change his ways, I'm only requiring three consecutive successes to move him from evil to neutral. To move him to good, though, you'll have to go the full seven, starting from scratch. He's now Lawful Neutral.

Once you tell him which one you want to engage, Johnny nods and walks nonchalantly over to the other one moving his fingers in a strange fashion and mumbling under his breath (Spellcraft to recognize the spell he cast). When he gets to the other hobgoblin, he begins speaking to it. A few seconds later, you see the enemy hobgoblin draw a longsword and move to peer over the edge of the cliff. Johnny calmly steps behind him, plants a foot firmly in his back, and sends him plunging over the edge.

Sorry for a prolonged absence all, but better late than 4th Ed. I don’t even know what that means.

Coraline would have cast Expeditious Retreat before the company sallied forth.

Spot check 14 + 13 (with a possible + 4 for favored enemy and + 2 favored terrain, forest if applicable) = 27 (or up to 33!) Coraline would have scanned for any hidden guards and/or any lookouts from the towers or windows of the manor and told the rest of the party before engaging.

Would you like me to take a crack with the oath bow to bring down the hob, I will at least have my favored enemy modifier OR My preference would be, please cast invisibility on me and I’ll head to the door and get a bead on any of the enemy the dares poke their head out and Tate (and any other missile or wand hurlers) drop the remaining hob, this way I’ll be in position to take advantage of our surprise.

This is before that other hob decided to go cliff base jumping. These young hobs and their newfangled hobbies...

Initiative 9 + 6 + 1 (favored terrain?) = 15 (or 16).

I rolled a 27 (or 33) above for perception to see if there were hidden guards or sentries. If none are apparent, with Expeditious Retreat Coraline and Barley head for the Manor door as soon as the second (hopefully) hob falls, Inigo Relámpago will impale the first of the opposition that comes through the door or if none come out 6 + 13 + 2 = 21 inspects (perception) the door for traps or glyphs. And Inigo Relámpago’s eldritch lightning begins the to do its work inside 18 +12 (BAB, Weapon Finesse) + 1 (Enchantment bonus) + 4 (Favored enemy as applicable) = 31 (or 35).

Roll to confirm the crit 12 +12 (BAB, Weapon Finesse) + 1 (Enchantment bonus) + 4 (Favored enemy as applicable) = 25 (29)
