Maybe it's worth Paizo knowing the pace of some of our games as part of the playtest. For example, my group plays every week, but we're just rounding out the first chapter of RotRL and we started when the Beta came out. This has got to be valuable information to the publisher in some way.

Wow... I'm not intending to say something hurtful, but that's REALLY slow.

Once a week, if we're lucky, and we spend a lot of time on thing that most players probably don't. Sandpoint is so detailed, it allows me to RP every purchase and interaction, and so I do. That's how my player's get the backstory, and they like it.

It's a little disappointing that I could never ever keep pace with the subscriptions, but hey, that's how we like to play.

That's blisteringly fast compared to many on-line games, though. :-)

For instance, my Shackled City PbEM has been running for 2 years and we're part way through the second module...

Participating in this, however peripherally it seems to me, has been fun. Thanks for the opportunity to contribute. I do look forward to seeing what material "mined" from the feedback makes it into the final rules set come August!

Thanks to everyone on the boards as well - without the community efforts this would be much less special. :)

Hi there Everybody,

The Beta Playtest of the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game is officially closed. What started on March 18th, 2008 with the release of the first Alpha playtest documents has now come to its successful conclusion, after 6 months of playtesting the Beta rules. As of this date, there have been over 45,000 downloads of the rules and well over 100,000 posts to our boards with a lot of great feedback, criticism, and praise.

While all of the Alpha forums and the Beta Playtest forums are now closed to comment, the Announcement, Playtest Reports, and General Discussion forums will remain open until the release of the final game on August 13th, 2009 (the first day of the GenCon Game Fair). The pdf of the Beta Playtest version of the rules will remain available until that time.

I just wanted to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for contributing your feedback throughout this lengthy process. I see this project as a joint effort between the design team and you, the thousands of folks who have given their time and energy to make this a better game. Over the next few months, I look forward to showing off some of the game that you helped shape. Check back with the Paizo Blog for updates and previews of the final game.

It is my hope that you will check out the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game when it is released and give it a try. I am sure that you will find it packed full of helpful revisions, simplified rules, and inspired ideas, all of which you helped to create.

Thank you again

Jason, I run about ten games a month, most at low level. But I will tell you like I tell my players. This edition is the 'smartest' edition of the game I've ever seen, and the rules that you provided to my groups free of charge will pay you dividends in August.

We are currently running through (list of campaigns)
Rise of the Runelords (Tuesday nights)
Searching for Answers (Every Thursday nights, followed by polyhedral sacrifice)
Tomb of the Abyssthor (sp? old Necromancer games module)
And other assorted one-offs.

Just for Fun in Peoria, IL, and The Game Store in Washington, IL have been a boon to me as I've asked them to get in your products and I'm excessively happy with the world you've inherited from Monte, Skip, and Jon.

I'm happy to be here, as I'm sure everyone is.

I just noticed this thread is still open :-)
Give me the chance to say, Thanks, Thanks, Thanks
Thanks for a great game and thanks for letting us participate in the development.
And as Shisumo put it: "it's been a blast being involved!"
Now when the beta playtest is closed, it's feels a bit like withdrawal (quit smokeing is easier).
But it's been great and our group is just waiting for the book. waiting, waiting, waiting :-)
I hope you will give us some spoilers when you are ready.
/From Sweden With love

Now the real wait begins !!
I'm really wondering how the game will be in his final form !
Thank you for that.

Its been fun

Actually it still is fun - my group is going to carry on playing using pathfinder beta until the full rules come out.

And thanks to all the posters who participated in generally constructive, animated but polite discussion on these boards. It has defintely added to the appeal of the rules ....

Guys this is so hard the wayting is killing me
I was following many playtests
and now i'm down to a couple of posts only houch !

If you guys could continue to post a resume of your games it would be very apreciated
some were as good as reading a novel hihi

-sheds a small tear of sadness-

-recomposes himself-

It was a great experience to share, guys!

And thanks to Jason, who gave us the opportunity to contribute together!

Now, the long waiting for the Official Rules has begun !

Contributor

Well, I can't say that I was able to contribute a lot during the playtest, but I've been using the rules in my usually bi-weekly game and they're working well. Thanks for all the time and effort, Jason.

Jason, I wanted to add my thanks to involving the gaming community in the playtest process. It was great to be able to provide feedback and suggestions, and see genuine interest from you on everyone's thoughts. I'm eagerly looking forward to the final product, and to seeing what suggestions from the playtest make it in, as well as brand new changes from yourself to address issues brought up.

I'll be at the Paizo booth Thursday at 10am to pick up my copy at Gen Con!

All of the files are still available, but the comment period for all the portions are quite closed.
