Continuing after the end of SD (Spoilers)

Second Darkness

So I think my party will want to track down and kill Alistrira (the marilith) after her "whatever, you can'tt hurt me I'm awesome telport awayness" and of course take down Abraxis her boss as tyhe real threat. Madness I know but that's why theyre pcs. SHe is a CR29 while he is a 32 so that ends the whole deal around 28ish level. My issue is what are soem good adventures that can get the party from around 15/16 through to 20 and some good epic ones to get around 24/25. Any good modules or planar hopping adventures aswell as dungeon mag adventures would be cool. Post your thoughts!

Dark Archive

I don't know of any Adventure Modules that would fit into the SD AP, specifically after 15th level anyway. Perhaps an idea you could explore is the Draegloth. Now, I know they're not OGL, but if you just slap on a half-fiend template onto a drow, you're basically done. Give it some class levels, or even outsider HD, and introduce them to your players. Maybe tying them with Abraxas in some way. I'm sure you can come up with some good stuff for your players, even if you don't find a suitable Module to throw at them!

I have some ideas, and PF #18 has a nice little "what next?" section to help continue, I was just mining for resources really. I'm currently looking at a friend's copy of City of the Spider Queen which is set in Forgotten Realms. It could be a good "jump point" if the levels were adjusted and could cap off at 20ish. I know there were a few epic adventures in dungeon (not many) so I'll look for those and see if any will work. Thanks for the idea and keep em coming!

Funny, I was thinking the same thing as I was reading Pathfinder 18 and pulled out my copy of City of the Spider Queen. I have not started looking through it but thought it might be what I need to continue the adventure.

I have other drow related material I will pull out to see if anything fits.

Well the idea I was having was replacing/grouping Irae T'sarran with Alcavniss Vonarc... Seeing as how after Alcavniss's and the pcs last left each other they may be up for going after her OR she decides they've seen too much of her home and are competent enough to have stopped Allevrah so they need dealt with if her/her and Irae's plans are to come to fruition. I envision her/they're real goal as to being a summoning of a patron Demonlord instead of the god from the adventure.... Maybe even Orcus since undead are so prevalant... Thoughts?

If we make it to the end, I can see my group going after TreeRazer.

Yes, when I read that chapter I thought that and then forgot about it as time passed. That means someone (hopefully someone smarter than me - how about James) needs to stat up Treerazer... And a good time was had by all. So maybe City of the Spider Queen moving toward a battle with Treerazer.

Of course I have voted in the modules thread for modules that cap off the adventure paths - or an adventure path every couple of years that cap off three APs. The first two to finish off RotR, the second two for CotCT and the thrird for SD - taking one of the ideas for continuing the adventure in each AP and fleshing it out. In the RotR I would vote for a follow on adventure in Xin-Shalast, in CotCT I vote for the next runelord rising under the Castle in Korvosa (I will probably put this together myself anyway - but Paizo's version will be much better I am sure), and lastly the battle with Treerazer.

It just doesn't get any better than this...

Treerazer is CR 25, which puts him just about exactly where he should be as the end boss of a "let's do something about the Tanglebriar" campaign that would take your players into epic levels.

As it has been pointed out his stats, looking at his CR he falls nicely into the on the way to Abraxis path if I want to continue that far and he'd be a good 3rd ending so to speak (think Second Darkness as 1, City of teh spider queen as 2, a battle agains Treerazor as 3, and Abraxis as 4 "mini-campaigns" so to speak)

So I've laid out the a preliminary redone adventure background for City of the spider queen and need a few ideas, aswell as feedback if anything just doesn't seem to work that I missed. I also have no idea what surface city could take the place of daggerdale on Golarion, any suggestions welcome.

Spoiler:
In the Underdark city of Maerimydra, a nearly unheard of event has occurred. With House Azrinae’s sudden near complete destruction a mad archmage of a lesser house has brought the city to its destruction. Duneth Wharreil along with his ally a Half-fiend Fire Giant named Kurgoth Hellspawn led an army of goblinoids, ogres, giants, and demons to sack the city, slaughtering many of the drow there. Another of his allies Irae T’sarran slew the archmage and then took over the stronghold of the city Castle Maerimydra. Slaying the ruling house of the city, she then set about fulfilling her patrons desires by summoning a thing known as the Undying Temple within the castle.
Although most of the drow outside house T’sarran were slain, some escaped towards a small outpost some 100 miles away known as Szith Morcane. They were followed by T’sarran agents (including Irae’s own son and daughter) pursued the refugees with the intent of killing them. The T’sarran then set about raising the refugees as undead servitors to help sack the outpost. They quickly overtook the fort and raised the former heads of the houses there as quth-marens, hideous undead servitors. They then took control of the lower castes absorbing them into their house and emboldened by their new leaders they began attacking elven surface colonies. (the location on Golarion this happens is still undecided. (A place that is an elvan holding similar to Daggerdale?)
Back in her citadel Irae is involved in researching The Great Revenance, a spell that with the power of the temple will allow her to simultaneously animate the bodies of all the dead drow, goblins, ogres, and giants in Maerimydra at once in a single army under her command. The spell would raise an undead army with full possessions of their faculties, but robbed of their will. She has satisfied her lust for the blood of the ruling house of the city, now she desires control of all drow as well as the utter destruction of the surface elves.

Treerazer is precisely built to be a good boss for a group of 20th or 21st level characters, and having him be the boss of the "sequel" to Second Darkness is an excellent idea. At the end of "Descent Into Midnight," I included a few "How to continue the campaign from here" adventure seeds, and originally one of those seeds was a Treerazer plot. It had to get cut for space, alas, leaving the three examples in there that made it to print.

The nutshell version of the Treerazer plot was:

Spoiler:
Now that the Winter Council is gone and Treerazer knows that the Winter Council DIDN'T have as strong a presence in their tower, he moves in and takes over and soon figures out the secrets of the elfgate network. Using several elf gates in Tanglebriar, he's able to mount a sudden and deadly invasion of several sites across the Inner Sea region by spreading a demonic corruption through the elf gate network. The PCs must fight to stop the spread of this contamination, and eventually need to invade the Witchbole and defeat the dark secret that allows Treerazer to sieze control of the elfgates... and perhaps defeat Treerazer himself!

Note that Treerazer's closely tied to the demon lord Cyth-V'sug, not Abraxas; it wouldn't make since to directly tie Treerazer into a larger plot against Abraxas, unless you set it up so that Treerazer is working for Abraxas in return for support in returning to the Abyss to kill his ex-boss/father/brother/whatever Cyth-V'sug to take over his job.

Actually I was thinking pretty much that (the part about why he would ally), well maybe not quite so nicely spelled out but it was working in that direction... and with your info plus my own ideas I think I have a nice long term place to move my group (SD-> MOdified CotSQ -> Treerazer plot -> Assault against Abraxis and his peeps) I think that's a pretty good long term goal and could make for some crazy adventures. :P

When our party heard about Treerazer, we all said together, "We're killing him." There was no ifs, ands, or buts about it. We planned to come back and take him down!

However, our GM unfortunately has very little time left in the states and has to depart soon, so we won't get an "official" battle with Treerazer though we plan to go ahead and level our party to 20th level just to take him on.

I really enjoyed your take on a Treerazer path there James. In fact, it might make sense that when the party returns to Kyonin that they start hearing about demon attacks through the elf gates and have to deal with Treerazer's demonic attacks all over the world! It be a world jumping epic fight! Return to Riddleport to defend it against the demons and more! Could be really interesting as a rush to save the world from Treerazer. There's no real reason to not stop him in that case or even have him tied to Abraxis. He's just an evil that needs to be taken care of ASAP!

OH! Not to mention that we all plan to come back to the Drow capital to put an arrow into that Drow Noble who took away our cool corpse disguises...the Arcane Archer in our party soooooo wanted to put an arrow through the center of her forehead.

Did anything come of this because this is my plan also after Second Darkness is finished

James do you have any idea what the dark secret that allowed him to control the Elfgates were?

Im planning on using this for my Second Darkness game

Sorry, nothing has come of this yet. Several people in my group moved to other parts of the country. We're still playing it, but only a session every few months. We're almost to the end of Armagedon Echo.

Well if you get to it and want to colab on it let me know im just starting to perkulate some ideas

So some of my ideas

After the fall of the Winter Council if the PCs keep the spike in and somehow have someone stay with the Spike to keep putting in the spell levels then the PCs have a solid base of operations in the area for once Treerazer begins his final plan to take over all of Kyonin

TreeRazer takes about a year or two after the fall of the Winter Council to figure out how to Control the Elfgates (he will have some dark and secret way but im not sure what it is yet)

Treerazer is using the gates to launch attacks all over Golarian to keep other allies busy from helping the elves.

The PCs will all be in a single town for some reason and a demon strike team will hit the town this will be a solid group of demons most likly 10 or 15 demons so the pcs wont be fighting all of them but most of them.

This will happen at differnt times in a large amount of cities hopefully the PCs stop some of the raids

The PCs will trace it back to Treerazor he is planing full on siege of the entire forest and work his way inward towards the elves.

He has corrupted one of the gates to link with the Abyss so he can poor out more and more Demonic troops

The PCs must return to their ally the Queen and be a strike force to strike at important targets of Treerazer

I'd be happy to collaborate a bit. I don't check the boards much lately, so please forgive the slow response.

I especially like the ideas you listed above. I'm gathering that you assume the PCs will not return to Kyonin once the AP is finished. What you've outlined should give a good incentive to return.

I'm wagering that my group will return right away. So far they've taken a role of mercenaries, and the players seem to have been entertained by the elvish attitudes toward them. So far the elves, see the PCs as an expendable but efficient fighting unit. They send the PCs in on tough missions rather than risk precious elven lives. The players are fine with it as they are being paid well. It helps that the group consists of all fighting types (Fighter, Ranger, Paladin, and Rogue).

I'm guessing that their relationship may evolve into something like that of an auxillary military unit. The all human PCs have no interest or right to rulership, so the elven queen may use them in the future as personal guards, or a strike squad. Before they leave to the Land of Black Blood, I'll have her drop hints that their talents may be of use in the future, and that will slowly grow into a campaing against Treerazer.

Then again, it's hard to predict. If the PCs are not high enough level to take on the demon, then they may be sent to hunt down rogue members of the Winter Council.

Or kill of some high level cultists of Abraxus. They may want to take on that marilith too.

Well im figuring ill give them like a year of down time to do what ever they want before the first raid.

They might be with the Queen and previous intel on whats going on

I think ill do it alot like in the Legacy of Fire adventure path where they will each get a reward during the year of down time

once hero lab bestiary is up ill start building the demon armies

I think building up the demon armies will be the toughest part for me. It may be easy to throw together demons from the Bestiary, but I'd like to have some unique ones in there as well.

Having the year of down time with the unique rewards would be interesting, but I'm just not coming up with any ideas that would be connected to the AP like the ones in LoF.

Maybe something like . . .

Elven Diplomat: The PC takes the year to learn elven custom, network among important decision makers, and promote himself politically. He/she gets a bonus on diplomacy checks with elves.

Research: The PC spends the year gathering information on something or someone such as the Winter Council, the drow city, or Treerazer's domain, gaining information that would be helpful.

Scarab Sages

I do think Crypt of the Devil Lich by Goodman Games would be an exellent Adventure to follow SD, although you'd probably need to invest some work to change the plothook (ancient prophecy is a: a bit stale and b: doesn't really fit with golarion).
If you do not intend to run the Savage Tide AP, Into The Maw, Well of Darkness and Enemies of my Enemy (Dungeon 147 - 149) can be reworked to strike an Alliance against Abraxis, probably empowering the PC's to take on him before 28th level.

Scarab Sages

Roots of Evil (Dungeon 122) could easily be adapted as well - it fits with the demonic theme and fall well in the level range.
