I am now GMing Pathfinder Society at the Raleigh, NC Books*A*Million (7221 Sandy Forks Rd) every other Thursday. Our first meeting was kind of small, so if you're in the area for the next game (January 22), stop on in!

Oh, yes, and Up Taldor!

Liberty's Edge 2/5

Aw man. I wish I knew of this before I moved away.

I'm planning on moving back though, hopefully. I hate cold. When I get back home I'll look you up. :)

Interesting... (Being from Raleigh and all).

Yep. Every 2nd and 4th Thursday at Books*A*Million, so the 26th of February is our next game. Bring a Tier 1 character!

I'd kill or die to get up there regularly, but Raleigh is a haul from Wilmington during the week. Good luck with your game. Any of you guys going to Gen Con?

So it appears I am somewhat likely to be able to attend. What is the start time, do I need to be there early for you to review the character?

I have never attended a public event such as this. Anything I need other than the character, a pencil, and dice?
Anything I should be prepared for? I have heard/read about many bad experiences with the RPGA.

Sorry to hear that, but if ever the stars align and you're in town when we game, feel free to stop by.

As to GenCon, man, it's been years since I've been... 2001 I think. Maybe I'll take my vaccation then this year. Something to think on, anyway!

Quite happy to have you last night, Andrew. You did well, and your character helped out quite a bit (the group had been a little combat light previously).

Hope we did not offend or bore you as you may have heard about certain poorly-run RPGA games.

Fine gaming experience, none of the strange behavoir I've been warned about. I'll become a regular and would recommend trying this Pathfinder Socity meeting to anyone.

Sadly, due to scheduling problems at work, we will not be having our regular game this Thursday (April 23). But, second Thursday in May is still on.

You still interested in new players? I haven't checked this board in a while but I live in Cary and would love to get into some PFS games. I have a Tier 2 character I started at last year's GenCon but haven't been able to play in a game since.

Absolutely. We're playing tier 1 right now, but you'd be more than welcome to bring a new character or take up one of the pre-gens I provide.

I think our next game is May 14th...

Once I read up on what Pathfinder Society is exactly and how it works, I think I'll be posting here asking to participate in your biweekly Thursday night games.

Great, what's the start time? Also how close are you to Tier 2?

Also I have played:

#1: Silent Tide
#2: The Hydra's Fang Incident
#4: The Frozen Fingers of Midnight

We start at 6:00 PM. Most of the PCs are 2nd level. We've had some 7 sessions, I believe.

Yup, we've been through all of those.

Can I email you to ask some questions? Or would you prefer I post them here?

I'm guessing tier 1 doesn't mean level 1. What exactly is tier 1?
Is the group still a little combat lite, or lite in any other area? I'd be happy to play any sort of character to round out the group.
I checked out Books A Million the other day. Do we play in the cafe food area or somewhere else?
I'm guessing I should bring my Pathfinder Society card with number, dice, character sheet, pencil, miniature, PHB, anything else?
Are we permitted to bring snacks and drinks in?

Tier 1 covers something like levels 1-3, I think. Most player characters we've got are 2nd level.

The group includes a ranger, cleric, bard, sorcerer, and rogue.

Yup. We play in the cafe (though one player has offered his home, and we may move the game there...).

If you have a copy of the Campaign book or Pathfinder Society rules, those might be helpful.

Books*A*Million has told us no outside food or drink (they want to make money in their cafe, after all).

Man I am so jealous of you guys that you get to have Alexander DM for you, he is top-notch! If I ever move back to Raleigh, he's the first guy I'll look up. And Alexander, how can you forget GenCon '04 when we broke that dude's lame module? >:D

Quite a fine session Thursday, but I didn't get your Pathfinder Society nmber for Wraif Broadwell. I'll need that to report his prestige award.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Well, I'm trying to get back into gaming as well...how does the Pathfinder Society compare to RPGA style play? I saw a lot of that back at Lost Goblin while it was open and I was participating in hombebrew/less regulated campaigns..is it similar?

p.s if you're looking for a place to host, my house(located in Garner) can seat 6 easy..and that's if we ignore the kitchen table and it's chairs. there's room enoough to do multiple tables if neccassary.

Well, I don't know about RPGA - never was able to participate, mostly because I didn't know what it was. I read through the 'Guide to Pathfinder Society Organized Play' (that you should be able to find on this site, let me know if you can't) and I decided to give it a shot.

The style of play, I would say, is not significantly different from running a module. The system just makes sure that all players are created equal and it keeps track of which adventures you have completed so that you can take your character to another game or convention and the GM can be assured that your character is fair play.

Andrew,

Good to see you back! We are still meeting at the same time, and July 9th is the next game, but Tim has offered to let us play at his house now that BAM closes at 9:00 PM. I'll be happy to meet you at the bookstore and then lead you to his place (only some 4-5 blocks away).

A. (who needs to download the next adventure...)

Remember, too, that my place is available should we need more room at the table.

Great, I'll be at BAM by 5:45. Is this board still the best way to keep in touch with you about your Pathfinder Society games?
