Pathfinder Society Grand Lodge
PFS at SYDCON, Sydney, Australia; October 1st-3rd I'm organising the Pathfinder Society offering at Sydcon in Sydney this year. Here's the event. When: Labour Day Long Weekend, October 1st-3rd, 2011
Here's the detail.
Cheers Al, The game at the Blacktown Unlimited Hobbies shop will not be held in October as SYDCON will be taking priority. After all, we want these conventions to have as much support as possible from the gaming community. Thanks to those who came along last Saturday for the game, we kinda went over time I know. Cheers Sebastian for coming in, sorry that the player numbers were a little too low for a third table.

Cheers Neil. We're also cancelling the Good Games session for this month so that SYDCON can take priority. I'll be sending the email around tonight, hopefully...
Greetings all.
Spoiler:
Hi all,
I need to let you know that we have indeed decided to pull out of organising Pathfinder through the SRGA, at least for Sydcon 2011. However, we are still offering Pathfinder, at full (and possibly increased) capacity, albeit at a different venue just down the road. I'd like to emphasise that our decision to pull out of Sydcon was not made lightly. Literally hours of negotiation with the SRGA while trying to work with them over the past two Cons has simply resulted in our conclusion that, in order to offer Pathfinder players the sort of experience that we, as lovers of the game, deserve, we need to do it ourselves, at least in this instance. The decision was unanimous amongst all ten of the Pathfinder organisers and GMs. We simply didn't feel that the faceless internal committee that pulls all the strings behind Eyecon and Sydcon, the SRGA's "Decemvirate" if you will, were willing to work with us to meet some modest requirements in order to ensure our game's best interests were met. And so, we have decided to organise "Shadow Lodge", a Pathfinder convention that will be held on October 1st-3rd at the Roxbury Hotel (http://roxbury.com.au), 182 St Johns Road, Glebe, just down the road from Sydcon. We felt it was important that Shadow Lodge was offered on the same long weekend and close to Sydcon as many of you will have organised to travel to Sydcon already, and possibly even paid for games. And so you will be able to walk between the venues to play games at either, as you so wish. We bear the SRGA no ill will and remain open to working with them again in the future should they become able to better accommodate Pathfinder players and GMs. The Roxbury is a great venue, with a fully-licensed bar and good, inexpensive, food. The price for each game at Shadow Lodge will be a fraction of their cost at Sydcon at only $2 each. If you are under 18, or will be bringing someone who is under 18, or if you have already paid for Pathfinder games at Sydcon, then please email me immediately at ajrigg at gmail dot com, or call me on 0415 050 568. We will make sure you are accommodated and don't lose out. If you have any concerns or comments, please feel free to email me offlist: ajrigg at gmail dot com, or call me on 0415 050 568. We are committed to building the Pathfinder community across Sydney and Australia and welcome your support. I will follow up with details regarding registration and other things this weekend here and on the various other places we Pathfinders hang out. Please forward this email to your game groups and others who you think will be interested. I look forward to seeing you all at Shadow Lodge! Al
EDIT: Obviously, the registration system will need to be changed. Al has informed me that he plans to use a Warhorn (http://warhorn.net/) account to handle this. Watch this thread for details. Feel free to email Al, or leave a message here on the boards if you have queries. Cheers all.

No worries, you and Andy always put on a good game and having the guy who runs the store take lunch orders is awesome too. (talk about service!) One question, How can you guys do it so cheap? Cha 20's when organising events?
Hi all from the SRGA We'd like to extend an offer to all Pathfinder players to come to our social events (particularly our Saturday Night Banquet, Sunday Night Trivia contest and our after-convention drinks on the Monday) even if you're not interested in playing at Sydcon. The venue for our after-con drinks is yet to be confirmed, but is usually the Nag's Head (right down the road from the Roxbury). Details for these events can be found on our website http://www.sydcon.info We will also still be running Pathfinder at Sydcon, so if there's a game you want to play that you can't get into at Shadow Lodge, check out Sydcon as you may be able to get into the same game there. Enjoy Shadow Lodge and hope to perhaps see you at Sydcon. The SRGA

lol. Much appreciated. The shop owner, Michael, has been very supportive of Pathfinder Society, and gamers in general. The deal is very good ($5 for the day), which is why we do our best to support the shop as much as possible. Buying drinks and food there, and of course the Paizo products wherever possible. So yeah, we're all pretty grateful to him for that. lukestrotz wrote:
Cheers Luke. Hopefully I'll be able to attend at least one or two sessions at Sydcon.
Hi all, Registrations for Shadow Lodge 2011 are now open at Warhorn here so go and sign up to make sure you get a seat! It would be great to see you all there! We have 30 sessions on offer over the three days of the long weekend, featuring Pathfinder Society scenarios from the close of Season 2, the Year of the Shadow Lodge, and the launch of Season 3, the Year of the Ruby Phoenix. And we are also offering the latest Pathfinder Society sanctioned module, "The Feast of Ravenmoor" as a three-part special! Register now and sign-up to play to ensure that you don't miss out! Our sessions run from 10am to 3pm and from 3pm to 8pm each day, and the price per session is only $2! More information is available here. Cheers,
19 days to go until Shadow Lodge 2011 and so far 12 of the 30 sessions are running with:
Of the 18 still to reach minimum numbers:
If you're not able to get the game you want, make sure you let us know the conflicts or what you're on the waitlist for so that we can try to make changes to accommodate as many of you as possible. For example, there are six sessions still to get a player: what would you like those changed to? Let us know!
Announcing exciting updates to Shadow Lodge 2011! We're giving you more of what you've asked for! With several sessions booked out or oversubscribed over the last week, we have made some changes to the schedule to open up more opportunities to play the most popular scenarios. Among other changes, we have created a second stream of the popular Feast of Ravenmoor three-part special and created two new special sessions called "Player's Choice". Here, with your fellow players, you'll be able to negotiate with the GM ahead of time or on the day itself to play any scenario from any of the Seasons of Organised Play! So if you haven't yet registered, make sure you sign up straight away at our Warhorn site here in case these new seats fill up fast too! So, with two weeks to go, 19 of the 30 sessions are now running (an increase of 7 tables from last week) with:
Of the 11 sessions still to reach minimum numbers:
More details are available here. See you at the Shadow Lodge! Al
I was talking with Tim, who runs Infinitas bookshop in Parramatta. He would be interested in having more roleplaying in his shop, but isn't a roleplayer himself, so he needs someone to organise it. So if anyone is still looking for a new venue to play Pathfinder at, contact Tim at Infinitas. You can get him through the contact page at www.infinitas.com.au TC

I stopped in on the weekend (I have run a couple if games there myself previously - at the moment other commitments prevent from putting together a reliable schedule). Tim has a number of people who would like to play on an ongoing basis and run a game on the 'off weekend' (he has 4e running a weekend a month). If you are organised and want to build the community it's good to have a enthusiastic owner in your corner like Tim. nb: He has a great selection of novels too (his newsletter runs to about thirty pages). He also gets all the Writers at his store for signings (which is pretty impressive).
More updates to Shadow Lodge 2011! With even more sessions booked out or oversubscribed over the last week, we have made some more changes to the schedule to give you more of what you've asked for, including three more "Player's Choice" sessions. With one week left to go, 27 of the 30 sessions are now running (an increase of 8 tables from last week) with:
Of the 3 sessions still to reach minimum numbers, all of which are on the Monday:

More details are also available here. See you at the Shadow Lodge!
Our inaugural Shadow Lodge convention was a massive success! We had 40 players filling 145 seats over 31 sessions, making Shadow Lodge 2011 the largest ever Pathfinder event in Sydney, and the largest in Australia this year. Thanks to all who came. More info here.

What should a rookie player prepare for the normal PFS day? I don't really want to use a pre-gen. I believe I need to enter a Pathfinder Society number and confirmation code on line to confirm my character? Edit - worked it out sorta... Where and when is the next one for Sydney? Games unlimited?

Ah, good to hear. The admin can be a bit daunting I know. We typically run games on the first Saturday of each month. So the next one will be on the 5th November. The Unlimited Hobbies (aka: Grey Matter Games) shop is at Unit 2, 94 Kildare Rd, Blacktown. I've yet to compile the list of games for the day, but I do have a few in mind:
Good to see new players join PFS, welcome aboard.
Luke_Parry wrote: @ Neil: Wrath of the Accursed would be nice, assuming we can muster the players for it :-) Author of the scenario Matt Goodal is scheduled to GM Wrath of the Accursed at PaizoConOz in Brisbane next week, although tbe table is looking for players (currently only two signed up). I'd like to have offered more high-Tier scenarios for veteran players, but there just hasn't been the demand for them - everyone is signing up for the low-Tier scenarios. Cheers,

Sad but true. I'll only be at PaizoCon for the Saturday (the special is what I'm especially interested in) and even then I'll be a low level character since my fiancee has insisted that we be on the same table. High level tables seem to be a rarity everywhere.
Stephen White wrote:
+1 extra at the table now...
lastblacknight wrote:
Thanks Seb, Matt will be happy, one more character to slaughter! One or two more players would of course be ideal, but I think I'll leave this on the schedule to run even if it's a table of three plus a pre-gen, because how often do you get an opportunity to have the author of a scenario GM it for you at PaizoConOz? Not that often. Cheers,

I am a little scared for Newt The Halfling Druid. but I have the fame to get his body recovered and raised (at least the first time :)
for all those who care... you will be happy to know Newt the Halfling Druid did in fact survive PaizoCon OZ relatively unscathed. However whilst thoroughly enjoying .... GM ONLY:
"Wrath of the Accursed" run by the man himself Matt Goodall. A certain character now has to consider purchasing a new wardrobe, at least she now has the benefit of not having to shave in the morning...
Apparently there is a game on the last Saturday of each month at Good Games, Level 1, 857 George St, Sydney - I confirmed it over on the Shadow Lodge FB page.
Thakell wrote: Yes there is as well as one at burwood Good Games the same day. Good Games do look after us really well. I think it's Elsa? at the Burwood store in particular is brilliant. She has gone out of her way to fit more tables on the floor by moving shelves etc.. And lunch is only a shop or two away - which is great if you like dumplings. Mind you, the Sydney Store - opposite Central Station is just next to a KFC - (yes food matters to me).
Hi all, Been thinking about what scenarios to run for November 5th.
Adam GMing:

Andy:
I should have one or two extra scenarios just in case these games don't suit everyone. We also have a facebook page for the event (courtesy of our new Sydney Venture-Captain, Alistair Riggs):
I'll post up an official paizo event soon.
"Lost at Bitter End" sounds cool. I'd like to be in that.

This Saturday Oct 29th, we'll be running the Beginner Box Bash at Good Games Sydney and Burwood to celebrate the launch of the Pathfinder RPG Beginner Box. If you can't make it this weekend, we'll be running it next weekend too, at Unlimited Hobbies in Blacktown. The day’s events include four new, one-hour quests highlighting the Beginner Box characters and rules. Special Beginner Box Bash punch cards allow players to keep track of their adventures and learn more about the Pathfinder RPG and Pathfinder Society. And as those who complete all four adventures will receive a special reward: a Pathfinder Society Chronicle sheet to welcome them into the Pathfinder Society or to enhance any existing Pathfinder Society character. This is the perfect opportunity to introduce a friend or two to the game we already love, so please let me know if you'll be coming along and who, if anyone, you'll be bringing and I'll do my best to ensure that everyone gets to play. All Game Masters who run four events during the Beginner Box Bash can also expect their own special Pathfinder Society Chronicle sheet. So, if any of you would like to GM at the Beginner Box Bash or host the event at another store this weekend or on a later weekend, get in touch with me ASAP, and I'll help you make it happen. Thanks, and I hope to see you at the Bash! Al PS. Nicely and appropriate ninja'd, Shifty!

Hmmm - so two different games. Beginners bash and a standard game... decisions, decisions...
Good to see everyone over the past couple of weekends. Thanks to all the GMs for running the games and all the players for rocking up!

John Lynch 106 wrote: Is Burwood running a games day next week? I can actually attend for once. Hey John, Yes, we're running games at Good Games Burwood and Sydney next Saturday (Nov 26th). At present, we're thinking of running some old classics which you may have already played: Silent Tide, and/or Mists of Mwangi at Burwood; The Hydra's Fang Incident and/or Frozen Fingers of Midnight at Sydney.
