Kael |

"I agr*uff we*ff Br*th*r Ze*mus." says Kael with a mouth full of sausage, cheese and bread.
Kael finishes the last of his drink and food.
"Can we move off together then split a scouting party ahead when we get closer? That way we are not apart by such time and distance as we are now. I think it is a good idea to meet up with Priapus and our acolyte friend."

![]() |

Brother Seamus and Merian,
~Lady Chauntessa looks at the both of you~ I will procure the scroll. However, you might end up being able to find out what you need from a live slaver. ~grim smile~ From what it sounds like, there are plenty to go around.
Kael,
Yes, you can "raid" our pantry for what food you need. Just do me a favor. If you find any books, please try to bring them back here to me. I would appreciate it.

![]() |

~looks up at both the farmers while trying to catch his breath-
"Sure, you can feed us, but more importantly what can you tell us? We come here looking for missing acquaintances and neither of us truly know the lay of the land. What can you tell us?"
Priapus,
~the farmer looks around~ What would you like to know? ~he points to Castle Whiterock~ The old castle is over that away. Cillamar is over that way. ~pointing towards the town~ We have several farms in the area. Who is missing?

Brother Seamus |

...But that information is out there, not here; moreover, an assault on the slavers in the day would keep the orcs from interfering with the battle."
I grimmace a bit at that; it may keep me from interfering with the battle, as well.
She looks up again, her level gaze meeting Seamus' with neither challenge nor fear.
I hold her gaze for a minute, and then break into a steel-eyed grin. "Then we are agreed!"

Priapus |

Priapus,
~the farmer thinks for a minute~ You don't mean Lyssa? She has been kidnapped? What about her Master? Didn't he protect her?
"While I am not privy to every detail, I do know that he was not with her at the time, and there are other concerns such that he has asked us to look into this for him. Any help you could offer...."

Idiah |

Idiah frowns at Brother Seamus and Merian's different approaches to the quest; hopefully they'll be able to work together on whatever plan eventually evolves. Then she speaks up. "I agree with Kael. We should get supplies and then hike out to where Priapus and Val are. They might know stuff we don't and will make our options clearer. The sooner we start out, the better. The more we delay, the more chance the slavers have to get away or get word from the traitor in town."

~the farmer thinks for a minute~ You don't mean Lyssa? She has been kidnapped? What about her Master? Didn't he protect her?
Priapus,
~the farmer thinks~ Well, I do not know much about Lyssa, other than the fact that she is apeasant girl who has done good. One thing that I do know is that the area has become more dangerous lately. I wish I could tell you more, but working a farm during pllanting season leaves little time for anything else.

Brother Seamus |

I agree with Merian.
"Lady Chauntessa, rather than a scroll, might thou obtain a good cleric for the spell, tonight, if it be possible?"
"Brother Arien, art thou equipped?"
I think to myself: Arien and Merian. Well, won't the gnome be pleased that we've gathered a cohort with rhyming names.
And we are away.

Brother Seamus,
~Lady Chauntessa thinks~ I can ask the cleric, but my guess is that it will be towmorrow at the earliest before he can have the spell prepared. However, I will put in the request.

"Is this area more dangerous because of the wolves, or are there more sinister forces endangering you? Perhaps a band of slavers? I am sorry, but we must press."
Valtiro,
The wolves have been getting a might bit fiesty lately. However, there have been some strange disapearences lately. Perople vanishing and never returning. Plus a raid once by some orcs. Luckly, we had a fast runner and he brought some help.

Merian Benvalla |

Merian's equipment is quickly gathered and easily carried, and she adjusts her armor and shield with the ease of long practice. With her sword by her side, she awaits the rest of the group to return from assembling their own gear - or raiding the pantry, as may be - before they head out after the trail of the gnome and the monk.

Idiah |

Idiah gets her gear, then retrieves her axe, nice and sharp, from the cook and thanks him for his work. She decides to wear her mail, remembering the arrow she took on the road and not wanting a repeat of that ambush, although now that she will be traveling with companions she is less worried about being caught unaware.

Kael |

Kael gathers food for everyone from the pantry and maybe an extra couple sweet rolls for himself, fills his water skins. Then he will get his other gear together and meet back with everyone else.
"Here you go." He gives everyone 4 days worth of food when they come back into the room or whoever is already there.
"I'm ready," as he puts the last bite of a sweet roll into his mouth.

By the way, Sharoth, can I determine what Lord Granger Flitwick actually does in the city? Is he part of the governing nobility?
Brother Seamus,
~Lady Chauntessa gives a look of disgust~ Oh, Lord Granger is one of those "idle" nobility. He is so bored with his life that he gives other people grief. For the most part he is harmless.

Aldan, Merian, Idaih, Kael, and Brother Seamus,
~quintus looks at you all~ I wish there was more that I could do, but perhaps this will help. ~he hands you a total of three potions~ These are some healing potions that I made. I wish I had more than three.
Standard healing potions, btw.

Merian Benvalla |

Merian will encourage others to take the potions - probably one each to Aldan, Idiah, and Brother Seamus - on the assumption that she can probably heal herself, and if she can't, someone else will need to have a potion handy anyway.
It occurs to me that Seamus can actually pretty much always act as a back-up healer for Merian, assuming he can get to her, because if she drops, he can just smack her and take away her lesser vigor, and then cast it on her again...

![]() |

Aldan, Merian, Idaih, Kael, and Brother Seamus,
Seeing as how it is getting later in the morning (around 9:30 - 10:00am), you all decide to head out. Tess give Aldan a good bye kiss and hug. As you leave Cillamar, the guards greet you and wish you well on your journey. It takes about two hours to get where Brother Seamus and Kael left Priapus and Valtiro. However, when you get to the spot, they are not there.

Merian Benvalla |

Aldan, Merian, Idaih, Kael, and Brother Seamus,
However, when you get to the spot, they are not there.
Merian frowns. "You're sure this is where you left them?" she asks Seamus in a worried tone. Not waiting for an answer, though, she begins poking through the former campsite, trying to figure out what happened.
Merian's no tracker, and not much for searching either - she's looking for obvious telltales, like patches of dried blood, dead bodies, large pieces of the scenery missing due to missed swings, that might indicate a fight, but I don't expect her to find much (even setting aside the fact that I know there wasn't any such thing!).

Priapus |

~the farmer thinks~ Well, I do not know much about Lyssa, other than the fact that she is apeasant girl who has done good. One thing that I do know is that the area has become more dangerous lately. The farmers want to thank you by fixing you a good meal. Plus, they seem to be afraid to be out this far from their home. It is around 9:45ish in the morning.
"Feisty in what way? Do the wolves just seem hungry. The female seemed quite a bit hmmmm, intelligent to me, for a wolf anyway. Who all disappeared? When was it? Did the disappear before or after the Orc raid? A fast runner? Who was it? Help? Is there a militia in the area? Who is in charge? What do you mean the disappearances were ....Strange... In what way? Oh food you say...sure I um seem to have tossed mine at the wolves, for all the good it did, I would love a home cooked meal....what were you doing so far from home? Did you have to go to market? Why are you so frightened, was it the wolves or just all the stuff going on or that I talk to much, I bet it's because I talk to much, sorry nervous habit, it's one of the reasons I like the monk here, he doesn't talk that much."

Priapus |

Priapus,
~the farmer gives you a strange look. You know, THAT look~ Well, wolves are pretty smart. But you are right. Those wolves did seem smarter than usual.
~I look at the farmer, wondering why he is looking at me like I just fell down a flight of stairs when there are no stairs around~
"Have all the wolves acted thus?"

Priapus,
~the farmer shrugs~ We are in the woods. Few things suprise us.

Brother Seamus |

I turn to Kael and sigh. "Part of me hopeth they be safe. But a little sliver remaineth to hope the universe is just, and the gnome was eaten by a music-hating grue."
I attempt to assist Merian. 1d20 = 15.

Idiah |

Idiah joins Merian in the search for our missing compadres. Searching the area, Idiah observes the obvious, but can't see the gnome and monk for the trees.

Priapus |

I huff and puff and blow his house down.
Roll....12+27 to hit is 39. What's his house's armor class?
Merian Benvalla |

Spot check with assist from Seamus (1d20+3=22)
Merian frowns, pointing. "I think... they were here last night. There are tent-holes here, and.... yes! A fire. Thanks for pointing that out, master Seamus. This is their camp.... but where are they?"

Valtiro Caspisi |

I nod ironically at Priapus for the 'compliment'.
"Speaking of which, our friends should be well on their way back here by now. They were only gone for the night. Say, good sir, tell us which way it is to your home, and we'll collect our fellows and return. Worry not, we do have food for ourselves, but I'm sure our friends will be interested in your talk and companionship."

~You miss and attack a Gazebo. The Gazebo is now very pissed off and it starts to chase you away~

Kael |

Merian, Kael is a backup healer in his own right.
"I'm going to scout the are area real quick and see if they are nearby. Give me a few minutes."
Kael touches the hammer hanging around his neck and makes a quick silent prayer to Grundinnar. He then fades into the forest.
Hide; Move Silently; Spot; Survival checks (1d20+14=30, 1d20+12=29, 1d20+6=21, 1d20+4=13)

Merian Benvalla |

Merian, Kael is a backup healer in his own right.
(nods) I remember - that's why Kael didn't get a healing potion either, at least Merian didn't suggest that he do so. I was just thinking about the specific interaction between Seamus's abilities and Merian's - a spellthief can't steal your psychic abilities, though, I'm pretty sure...

![]() |

Are there any signs of a struggle? Perhaps another dead cultist?
"Oh, and Merian, I prithee, call me Brother Seamus, or simply Seamus. I'm no more than a simple friar, called to the service of the Lord Kurgess."
Brother Seamus, Merian, Kael,
Nope. No sign of a struggle of any kind.
