There exists over thirty years worth of excellent source material for Wolverine complete with deep storylines and well developed characters. So why do they do screw with all this good stuff?

Perhaps because a lot of that 30 years of source material has been made into a festering pile of nonsensical crap by writers frequently going back over canon to retcon character histories with the villain picked for the annual summer crossover blockbuster?

Wolverine was better as an enigmatic former Canadian special operative with anger and memory issues. That was before they made him older than dirt and decided his claws were fundamentally natural. Just about everything since then has done nothing but overcomplicate the character and milk the cash cow of his popularity.

Spoiler:

Wouldn't an ordinary bullet through the eye socket have had the same effect? Why use adamantium?

Well for those who are fans of Deadpool, we can look forward to his solo movie now. It has been confirmed as of yesterday. Source.

Thankfully Fox is not involved. Marvel studios is though and that brings me hope to see him done right.

Would you think less of me if I went *squeeeeeeeeeee* like a giddy schoolgirl?

Yes. Well I'm to excited to care, so

*squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee*

Now if only they'd confirm The Flash movie my movie-going life would be complete!

I certainly won't think less of you. I was very excited when I first read the news. I haven't heard any good news about the Flash movie but I am looking forward to the Green Lantern movie for DC.

This one sucked so bad to me. I am a closet wolverine fan. (I hated him because everyone liked him) but inwardly I thought he was kinda cool. Just not as cool as cyclops. Looking at the movie as just a movie though... I felt like I was watching an Uwe Boll Movie.

Spoiler:

Let see, the girl dies becaue your brother betrayed you. That isn't good enough. Let the girl be part of the betrayal, bring her back to tell you about it, then kill her again. Really what was the point of that.

I loved how the super agile gambit just sat there in terror while the fire escape was being cut down, instead of jumping out... But, he is fast and powerful enough to jump in between a falling peice of concrete to protect wolverine. Let not forget the guy who did that, and who also seemed very wary of people in the casino fell to one of the oldest trick in movie. Walk up behind the shoulder, and bam take the back hand in the face and drop like bank stock is Jan 09. (like how cliche can you get. oh yea.. NO00000000000!!!! That cliche The only reason he didn't yell KARA was cause it sounded to much like Kahn.)

Someone mentioned another thing. fight sabertooth, then let him go so you can fight gambit and force him to tell you where sabertooth is.

Cyclops, again treated like crap. They put a blind fold on him?? Seriously, the dude that had his power punched through a freaking nuclear plant. He can't break through a blindfold. I didn't see any ruby quartz there. Also he starts leading people out, I though yea!! They actually gave him some of his story, being a good leader, etc.. then nope! Its picard telling him what to do. Then leaving wolverine and sabertooth there duke it out. I guess he didn't want them then. He wanted to wait until later when it would make a better movie.

There is so much in this movie to hate....

I thought this was a decent mid-range superhero movie. Not as good as Watchmen or the new Batman movies, but probably better than the Ed Norton Hulk movie and certainly better than X3, which was about as bad as it gets.

None of the stuff people have mentioned here bothered me in the least. Yeah, the slicing through the fire escape thing was a little cheesy, but this comes from a comic that gave us the "fastball special," so it's not like the source material is particularly serious.

Decent. Worth watching. Not worth owning.

The end.

I couldnt agree with you more. While the action was good, the script was horrible with lots of continuaty problems. Especially when a big part of the plot centers around wolverine being able to have super human hearing and smell one would think he would know a dead body from a live one.

Cyclops cool? Well to each their own I reckon. Collosus now he's cool.

I was really disapointed in X2/X3 with the itty bitty tiny little part they gave the rust proof ruskie. I'll probably enjoy the movie for what it is, taking the family to see it sunday, but I gave up on the comics (after 20+ yrs) a couple of years ago.

And in the comics, he generally can. Particularly in the graphic novel God Loves, Man Kills.

I would rate the Hulk movie with Ed Norton a bit higher than Wolverine, overall.

See this is why Fan Boys of anything shouldn't ever watch/read/etc anything...you'll find fault with everything done, so why bother tormenting yourselves?

I personally enjoyed the film, sure some bits are cheesy, but nearly all super hero style films are.

Personally the film was made for how well Liev did sabretooth for me.

If that's true why did so many comics fans like the Dark Knight, Iron Man and the more recent Incredible Hulk movie? Comic book adaptations can be done right.

I was waiting for someone to say 'All the tunnels look the same! How do you know where we are?' and Scott to say, 'Yeah, I was blindfolded on the way in. We turn left here.'

But no, it was Xavier telling him where to go. Ugh.

Typical of the treatment the character gets that the most impressive display of his power is when Deadsaberwolverwraithclops is using them.

Well, I was surprized; I really got into and liked the movie. Sigh; the little bit at the credits was a dissappointment; hope to see the others if and when they release the movie on DVD

Movie was ok. I don't know enough about Wolverine's past to care too much about the inconsistencies, but I do know enough to know the Weapon X project was in Canada, right? I remember the early X-Men comics where Wolvie was having problems with immigration, and the "big bad" Canadian government trying to deport him back to Canada.

In the movie, he's just from the U.S. on exile in Canada, right? and the whole Weapon X gang seems to hail from the U.S. as well.

Also, never heard of that suggestive powers Canadian girlfriend before... always thought he had it for Japanese girls and their angry dads instead.

What about Deadpool? again: don't know him at all as I've never read Deadpool comics, but something deep down was telling me that this ain't right...

What about Sabretooth? isn't he supposed to be his dad or something or Nightcrawler's dad with Mystique... Man, Marvel has retconned so much of their own histories that it's just impossible to keep up anymore.

Summary: meh.

Liberty's Edge

The one thing that really bothered me was Xavier's appearance. If he was there, then he was aware of everything going on, including the reasons for Wolverine's amnesia.

This puts the X-Men movies in a different light since Xavier should know exactly why Wolverine can't remember and lies to him about it.

I suppose with Cyclops, the experiments done to him by Weapon X are the reason he can't control his powers in this reality.

And was that supposed to be Quicksilver strapped up with the kids?

Sovereign Court

...and what about Emma Frost showing her glittering little ass at the end? shouldn't that be Jean? (this movie was all over the place... no real attention to canon was given; I blame movie execs who come in right before the movie starts shooting to change everything...)

some interesting points; I just figured xavier used cerebro to find the kids; but ignored Wolverine; they didnt meet then so how would he know in that short time that Wolvie had been shot in the brain pan; seems a bit of a stretch; but I see what your getting at; I seemed to have missed the Emma Frost thing; but then the Hellfire Club is another school and should be recruiting also.

Well, I have two thoughts on that. One is that Logan is clearly distraught over Kaila's death which could very easily affect his judgement. In this case, his mind is overriding what his senses are telling him. The other is that a fresh kill would smell very similar to a live person, at least I would think. Therefore, the drug that slowed her heartbeat would fool his hearing, and the smell wouldn't need to be dealt with.
