The Keeper of Forbidden Lore watches the multiverse spine and weave. She watches tells turn, worlds spin and lives lived. She watches events unfold across the multivers .Sees the tales unfold, bears witness to victories and defeats. Records glories, sadness and shame of her subjects. Looks on in moments of greatness, and times of great loss.

Today she looks to another world, another when. Today her gaze turns to the world of Abeir-Toril. On the continent of Faerun in the region of Chessenta he gaze settles on the city of Korvosa . A place rules by an aging Mulan king and his young sembian queen. Here something is happening, soon the city will rock and events will change the region. She gazes upon those that will be center of this storm, those who will shape the things that are to come.

The city is muggy today as it often is. The streets are lined with people mostly of mulan decent with the odd turmish and chordathan here and there. The wind from the bay keeps the city cool in light of the last few rainless tendays. Ships from the nations of the sea of fallen stars line the harbor and there is a felling of unrest among the people of the city. Unease seems to seep from the dry clay brick of the walls of the city itself. The queen is not well liked, nor is her knights of the black hand. A knightly order dictated to the lord of tyrants often but people ill at ease. Combine that will the kings failing health and you get a tenderbox ready for the flame. And this is where you find yourself this muggy morning.

Vengeance closes her eyes and lets the breeze from the sea blow past and gently caress her skin, savouring the moment with a faint smile. It had taken a lot to get a small shop close to seafront but it had proven to be wellworth it, the air was more alive here, less stagnant. Openning her eyes the brief smile quickly faded, replaced once more with her usual stoic, almost stern, expression as she set about looking over her storefront. It was fr from impressive but she'd done her best to make it eye catching.

'Lady V.
Mystical Advice

..and more
Enquire Within..'

The sign above her door proudly proclaimed. She'd deliberately left it vague as she had a great many talents she was willing to share for the right amount of coin, the lettering was starting to peel and with a sigh she resolved to prepare a spell to fix it up the next day, the seabreeze was wonderful but played havoc with the paint.

With a frown she decided it was as good as it was going to get today and drifted into the building, slipping easily into the large desk that dominated most of one of the corners of the shop floor and got to work on one of her most recent commissions.

'Dear Mother,

I arrived in Korvosa safe and well'

She started to neatly scribe with a frown, she hated having to write these letters, she got asked to write one every tenday or two, letters from illiterate barbarians probably being sent to other illiterate barbarians, it felt like such a waste but money was money.

Taking in the scenes of the city from the back of the ornate noble's carriage, tucked under the rear window, Teelos smiles to himself. As the carriage makes a turn through the city streets, he hops from the back and without a word to his unknowing transporter he wanders off.

Walking among the merchant stalls and stores he lets the music of the city carry across his sensitive ears. So different from the music of the forests, he likes it all the more for its chaotic rhythms and meter. The call of the merchants and the gossip of the locals puts his mind to spinning as he falls into the possibilities presented.

Slipping under and around the large folk, he is little more than a breeze to most of them. Seeing a new storefront near the water, a seer's shack, he climbs up the crates in the alley and takes a perch atop the roof, content for the moment to just take in the sights of the city from a higher point of view.

He missed Korvosa.

So many possibilities.

It felt like he was seeing through someone else's eyes.
Looking around clad in his well used clothes wondering when he would wake up and realise it was all some nightmarish dream, of course he knew he wouldn't.
Reg sighed.
Keeping a low profile and having only recovered from his injuries he still felt sore and somewhat shaken from the events that led him here, but placing his hand on his chest and feeling the holy symbol hidden beneath his mail shirt he couldn't help but feel better as if somehow some great pressue upon his soul had been lifted.
Still he knew he had a long way to go and he couldn't stay here too long without drawing attention, so he pressed on.
Korvossa loomed around him like a shroud and for some it was too late, Reg hoped he still had time to prevent the others going the same way as he almost did.
The shadows seemed to loom out from every alleyway and corner but he had to move on too many lives were in the balance to do otherwise, but he needed help he couldn't do this alone and he hoped a sign would reveal itself leading him to those who shared the same concerns as he did at least towards the nefarious Gaedren Lamms...

“~They say Chauntea is breathing…” Elric’s booming voice is rivaled only by the familiar ring of his hammer banging against the anvil, shaping the hot blade infront of him. “~With ev’ry wave that finds the shore…” Elric’s tone is deep, and it bears an even deeper melancholy. “~Her soul rises in the evening…For to open twilight’s door.”

He hadn’t had much work since his wife died a mere month and a tenday ago. “~Her eyes are the stars in heaven…Watching o’er us all the while.” This line seems to strike a particular chord in the heart of the large framed man, as the hammer hit’s the side of the blade, and slides off the edge of the anvil with a discordant sound. He wipes the sweat from his brow and clears his throat, bringing the hammer down again. “~And her heart it is south o’ Norland....Deep within the Moonshae Isles.”

Elric tossed the blade in the barrel of water to his left, content with this day of work. He would let the blade cool, and put the finishing touches on it in the morning, or whenever the desire to do so struck him, the blade was for a squirmy little man, and he’d be lucky to get enough to pay for this waterfront shop, which was purchased with his wife’s generous dowry.

His throat tightened at the thought of losing the last piece of his wife he had, this blacksmith shop, which was all he had ever dreamt of- a life of normalcy away from his life as a mercenary in Moonshae, away from violence altogether. Yes, Elric would have been more than happy to live as a simple blacksmith, scraping together enough to feed his now dead wife, and unborn child.

He released an audible sigh and removed his apron. He wipes some of the black off his hands and hangs it on the anvil. He steps just outside of his shop, and takes a seat on a bench outside. The wind caresses his callous face, unusually cold; it reminds him of the wind rolling off the Moonshae Sea. He longed for those emerald isles, as he always had. His wife was his only tie to this land. And now she had been taken from him at the hands of that weasel Gaedren Lamm. It seemed that he would have to take justice into his own hands.

Elric looked down at his hands. They were callous, the hands of a blacksmith. A bit of moisture escaped his tightly clenched eyes and disappeared in the wind. “Gaedren you will die at my hands.” He said to himself quietly, his eyes towards the heavens for a moment before he looked back to his hands. They were callous, “The hands of a warrior.” he reminded himself.

Hekeen pelted down the alleys looking for somewhere to hide. Shaking with anger, fear, and no small amount of shame Hakeen made a quick scan of the alley for a hiding spot... nothing. He ran on.

How had he sunk to this, a hunted creature in the back alleys of a backwater city far from his home and clan. Briefly he cursed his uncle for leaving him but it was without much spirit. Hakeen Duhaan knew when his father found out that he had delayed the ship for 2 days and had stolen trade goods to support his desire for the mind altering pleasures of shiver he would be disowned by the family.

Only when he remembered the other things he had done for the drug did Hakeen truly feel the depths of shame. The women he had entertained had mostly just been fat desperate matrons but a few were particularly revolting. Then came the additional demands. Hakeen fought to hold back the bile in his throat.

The thugs were at the mouth of the alley now Hakeen ran some more. Oh no... dead end. Hakeen turned, and faced his attackers there were three of them and they would make easy work of him. He hoped they killed him but saw they were armed with the sacks of sand Gaedren's thugs carried when they wanted to drag some poor soul back for questioning.

Suddenly a great rage came over Hakeen and he felt his blood boil and a power from deep in his soul. Not truly understanding what he was doing he grabbed that power and poured all of his rage into it. Flames filled the alleyway and shortly the screams of the thugs who were coming for him. Two of them dropped, and the last turned and started to run. Hakeen, still in a daze chased the man and caught him. He sliced the mans throat open with his bare hands.

Hakeen stopped running.

Bean Stepped off the ramp of the ship that had brought him to Korvosa with a smile on his face. The sea breeze was pleasant as had been the trip from Selgaunt.

The crew of the Surfrider had been gruff at first, and there had been a few jokes about what a priest of Sune did, but those had passed quickly as Bean proved good natured about it. He had shared advice about romance and his singing had gone over well too while travelling having little better to do, and even counted a few of the crew as friends now.

Stepping out of the way of some porters unloading the ship Bean decided he should hurry on his way to the temple. He needed to know if they would have a place to stay, or if he would need to find shelter before it got too late.

" Some information about this place would be nice too " Bean thought to himself as he set off in the direction the captian of the Surfrider had told him would take him to his rendezvous.

Euphegenia strode out from the The Red Knights temple house, her face flushed from the brisk, early morning sea breeze, her step quickening with purpose, her rage bottled to use as a weapon when needed. For two months she had hunted for her charge, the spoiled human child had disappeared from the market, giggling and ignoring her calls to return to her side, and then he was just simply gone. She had searched every side street and even the watch could find no trace or sign of his location. For two whole months Euphegenia had been in disgrace, loosing her superiors youngest son was a mistake beyond forgiveness, but now she had a name, the temples purse was deep enough to pry open the lips of even the most fiercely loyal street ruffian.
She rolled the name over and over in her mind as she walked, Gaedren Lamm, your days are numbered, revenge is a dish best served cold and I have plenty of time to plot my vengeance against you.
Euphegenia stopped at the market to buy a little bread and cheese before continuing to old parts of town, the street urchins recognised the sweet dwarven lady instantly and flocked to her as they had every day for the last few weeks, clamouring for a share of today's food.

Having little to cheer about the sight made him feel better inside even though he knew the feeling was only temporary until he remembered his mission...

" What an odd looking card " Bean thinks to himself while rereading it, " Hmm... I was meaning to pursue this anyways... might as well get to it. "

Bean peers out the window gauging the time, " Just long enough for a bite of supper and some time in prayer before I head out. I better ask for directions. "

----

A few hours later Bean had left most of his gear in the room the acolytes of Sharess had lent him and finished his evening prayers. He smiled faintly at the new game he had learned from them when he had asked for directions... " Kiss and Tell they called it... I kiss and the better I do the more they tell " Chuckling about how good life was Bean headed off towards the address on the card that he had put in his pocket.

Euphegenia looks at the card turning over and over in her hand and looking for who could of placed it there.

Peering over her spectacles and seeing no one, she senses a trap, after all she had made it fairly public she was searching for Lamm.

She leaves the market and heads to the temple, constantly checking for anyone following her. Euphegenia arms and armours her self, makes her peace with The Red Knight and then heads to address a few hours early. Secreting herself some where she can hide and patently observe the buildings front entrance.

I will take a 20 on the hide, giving me a huge total of 14!

Reading the message Reg frowned.

He had been waiting for a sign but the growing evidence of Gaedren's guilt was making him wonder just how far the old rogue would go to preserve his life and ill-gotten gains.
Reg began to truly fear for the lives Gaedren still controlled and carefully putting the card away Reg decided to seek out the aid this message offered and prayed to his family's patron deity that its offer held true.

Vengeance slowly twirls the card between her fingers, her expression one of vague curiosity, te was no doubt that this would prove more interesting than the letter she was working on. Pushing her inks and paper to one side she rests her chin in her free hand and stares at it intently.

"Now where did you come from? And more importantly how d you know my past?" She questions the apparently inaminate object with a small smirk of a smile as she looked even closer still at the card. With detect magic.

Elric stood looking at the directions upon the back of the card for a long time. He had went to all of the authorities when Gaedren had killed his wife and unborn child. They did nothing. He would've tracked the man down himself but he had little skill in doing such. Perhaps this was the oppurtunity he was looking for.

" Yer black heart be damned if this be some sort of trickery Lamm." He declared to himself, sliding the card within his pocket.

Elric pulls his Greataxe off of the wall, an heirloom of his family on the Iluskan side. It had shed plenty of blood in it's time, and if Elric was walking into a trap, he would cause as much bloodshed to Gaedren's lackys as he could.

At sunset he finds his way to adress, his handaxe hanging on his belt, and his greataxe in hand, slung over his shoulder.

I wonder if this is some kind of trap. It doesn't make any sense though, if he could get into my room to place the card why bother with trap?

Hakeen glances around the now clean room and departs. "Father always says I should look my best when meeting new people", Hakeen hefts the purse he took from the thugs who had cornered him. "So I'm going by the tailors to make myself presentable first."

Hakeen goes by the tailor and buys a nice outfit and a set of traveling clothes. Changes into the nice outfit and heads for where the meeting is, trying to get there an hour early.

The house smells of flowers and spice. It is a small place with a parlor, kitchen and and two mostly empty rooms upstairs.

Once you make it downstairs there is a note written in chorathan on the table.

"Thank you for coming. I
had to step out for a
bit, but shall return
shortly. Please, have a
seat while you wait. The
basket under the table
contains bread and drink
for you."

The bread is a bit stale and the wine while not excellent is passable

The cozy chamber within this small home is filled with a fragrant haze of flowers and strong spice. The haze comes from several sticks of incense
smoldering in wall-mounted burners that look like butterfly-winged elves. The smoke itself seems to soften edges and gives the room a dream-like feel. The walls are draped with brocaded tapestries, one showing a black-skulled beast juggling men’s hearts, another showing a pair of angels
dancing atop a snow-blasted mountain. A third tapestry on the far wall depicts a tall hooded figure shrouded in mist, a flaming sword held in a skeletal hand. Several brightly-colored rugs cover the floor, but the room’s only furnishings are a wooden table covered by a bright red throwcloth and several elegant tall-backed chairs. A basket covered by blue cloth sits under the table.

I am going to leave it you yourselves to make your way into the place, and make your own inductions.

"Well now, aren't you an intriguing thing?" Vengeance retorically enquires of the card in her hand, her dark lips curling into slight smile. "Consider my interest piqued" She adds before putting it away in her coin pouch and getting back to the current monotony of her job.

Just before sunset the genasi shuts up shop as always and makes her way through the streets in the diminishing light, seeing no point in being either early or late. With a knowing smile she holds out her hand as she walks and Malachite, her raven familiar flaps down and rests upon it. "Watch the outside of the building for me" She instructs plainly before lifting her hand to let the bird fly free once more.

Deciding that standing on the doorstep would attract attention she enters without knocking, besides whoever sent the note didn't mind sending something into her home without announcing itself first. With eyes the colour of storms she carefully regards the others before turning her attention to the decorations on the walls, finding them of more interest.

Male Ghostwise Halfling Rogue / 1

Teelos nibbles a bit at the bread and takes a sip of wine as he ponders the others entering the house. Preparing to defend his presence should one of them be the owner, he takes out his card and lays it on the table in front of himself. He remains at the table, standing on the chair.

He offers the bread and wine to everyone else.

Female Air Genasi Wizard 1 (Conjurer)

Vengeance takes some of the wine as it is offered, taking the opportunity to glance at the halfling's card, intrigued to see if they all got the same or whether the card faces were a clue to their situation. She doesn't linger long however chosing to return her attention to the situation around her, keeping herself aware of all others in the room and of the room itself.

Hakeen takes a small portion of wine and bread then introduces himself to everyone in the room and as they arrive.

Hakeen is the proverbial tall dark stranger. His dark complexion, dark eyes, and strong accent mark him as a non-local to Khorvosa. Hakeen is a striking figure and many would consider him hansom.

Female Air Genasi Wizard 1 (Conjurer)

Vengeance throws a stray lock of hair over her shoulder as the dark man introduces himself, her eyes slightly narrowed, immediately suspiscious. "Hakeen" She repeats as he introduces himself, her tone of voice reminiscent of a cold breeze that threatens a future storm. She mentally notes the name but does not give her own.

Reg wondered what was going on.
Admittedly he arrived just as several others headed into the same location given on the card but the sight of the dwarven lady from earlier gave him pause as he wondered if she had been the one to drop the card.
Sighing he decided the only way to find out was to enter and see what developed so deciding on his course of action Reg stepped up to the door knocked once before entering and hoped he was wasn't getting into more trouble than he could handle...

"Hello," Reg greets the others holding the card openly in his hand.
"I assume you all got invites?" he asks somewhat at odds since he hasn't been used to this much armed company since he had been one of Gaedren's "Lamms" and that was to run away from them.
Reg accepts a cup of wine and some bread before heading to the nearest unoccupied seat.
"I take it we're all here regarding someone whose escaped the law for far too long?" Reg asks as he sits down.

The youth doesn't look like he's even reached adulthood his clothing looks well used and the chain shirt he's wearing looks made for someone of leaner build yet he carried the armour and weapons he as if he's been well trained.
He looks somewhat emaciated as if he has had a seriously bad time of living recently and looks like he's barely getting over his bad experience.
Every now and then he briefly reaches up to touch something hidden underneath his mail shirt and after placing the cup down where it can't spill slowly breaks up the bread he received and eats it slowly as if he doesn't expect to have another meal.
He gazes at each of the others in turn before looking at the dwarven lady and then after a moment nods to her before returning his attention to the cup he left on the floor and slowly sips it as he takes in the rest of the room.

Female Air Genasi Wizard 1 (Conjurer)

At the mention of invites Vengeance tosses her card almost carelessly onto the table, face up, a picture of a hooded lady with images dancing above her outstretched hands visible to all. Slowly a smile graces her interesting facial features, seemingly impressed by something as she looks over the cards on the table and then to the others gathered around the room.

Looking around the room Bean sees the bread and wine everyone is snacking on, " Oh that looks good, does anyone mind if I say a quick blessing on it? "

Without waiting for a reply Bean walks over says a quick prayer to Sune and kisses the loaf and wine bottle in turn.

After several minutes longer she also enters the room, with her hand on her weapon.

Looking round she notes that there is one more figure in the chamber than those who entered by the front door and she is about to make an assumption that the small boy, no he is a halfling, is their host when he speaks.

"I'm Teelos. Did you all get one of these as well?"

Cautiously she readies her battleaxe and speaks, "Well aren't we a funny looking bunch?" her voice is heavily accented. Taking in any startled looks that her axe draws she continues "Don't be alarmed my children, but if we all have one of these here cards, then this could be a trap." She places the axe on the table, "are you pouring lovey?" she asks the halfling as she takes her seat and places a small round card with a large horn of some type on it in front of her.

"It would be a very foolish person who'd pull together such an eclectic grouping, of undoubtedly varied skills, for a trap, they'd pick us off one at a time" Vengeance points out in a level tone "I'd say this is less a trap and more a grouping of efforts."

" I was wondering about that myself, however a trap wouldn't make sense. I'm new to the town myself, and only recently found out that this man could have anything to do with my parents. I grew up in the temple orphanage and had come to town mainly to check up on other followers of Sune and Sharess in the area. Just a stay in touch effort really. When I arrived I found this card in my room. Why go out of your way to bring someone who doesn't even know the area and is expected elsewhere into a trap? " Bean looks around and shrugs, " But I've been wrong before. "

" That brings up something else... do we have anything in common other than a reason to not like Lamm? Who is this man that he can upset so many people with little fear of retaliation or interference from the law? "

Hakeen looks at Reg and shrugs. "I assume when you say someone you mean Gaedren", Hakeen practically spits out the name, "If so then yes. I'm here for some payback, plain and simple."

"I was one of his Lamms, I tried to help those in his care until he grew tired of my resistance and tried to have me killed, I survived and am looking to take him down to save the others still in his care... and you?" Reg answers quite abruptly his eyes seemingly devoid of any emotion almost as if he were an animated corpse rather than a human being.

He smiles after a moment breaking the inhuman visage he had just shown as he dropped his gaze returning his attention to the wine he was slowly sipping and seemed to hold it as if he was worried he couldn't hold it in one hand.

Vengeance gives a small nod of agreement at Hakeen's sentiment but does not lift her gaze to his, nor does she make any comment, she simply continues to listen and sip her wine.

Elric Walk's cautiously into the building, dunking his head a bit in order to get his 7'6" frame through the door.

He comes in without a word, and offers the others hardly a passing glance, seemingly callous to all besides his own motives. Upon seeing the cards laying on the table, he reaches over those around the table and places his card down forcefully, shaking the table. The face shows a mighty keep with its battlements teeming with soldiers.

He places the butt of the handle of his greataxe on the ground, and crosses his arms over the top of the axe, letting it support his weight, he looks straight ahead, a hard but noticably tired expression on his bearded face.

" From what I've heard he may have had a part in the death of my mother. " Bean states rather calmly considering the content of his announcement, " I don't know, maybe it should upset me more but I was still very young at the time and had a good childhood in the orphanage. I was luckier than you in that I guess. Mainly it seems the more I learn of this man the more I believe he needs to be brought to justice. "

"Should have been dealt with long ago if local justice had any sense!" Reg agrees vehemently.

"By the way the Sune priest blessed the wine and bread if you want to partake," Reg points out to the 7'6" newcomer.

Vengeance moves swiftly and in an agile manner around the room, looking over the walls once more, really not wanting to settle in one place for any length of time, especially around others she doesn't know. A gentle cold wind plays around her and seems to get colder whenever any of the others get anywhere near her.

Elric's expression breaks as he raises a brow at the daughter of the sky, having seen her on the waterfront. Her mystic shop only a few buildings down from his . Her arogance and aloofness didn't bother him. He was much too big to be looked down upon.

Elric does not look, but he hold's up a hand as soon as Reg begins to adress him."My belly is full chessentan and I have no taste for that fruitwater." Elric states, his booming voice echoing over those around him.
