"I don't know if that's true or not," Kessel adds with a shrug, "rumors are sometimes true, but I do know that only message that killing or maiming some fancy dressed prig is that the streets need more guards. And people like Ileosa love lots of guards, it makes people frightened, and it makes it easier for her to crush resistance."
"You do realise I am standing right next to you in a city Guard uniform right?" Celena whispers to Kessel before turning to the crowd
"Listen everyone I can understand your frustrations but beating t some poor sod who's only crime was to walk down the wrong street in expensive clothes this morning is not going to help things. Worse if you continue doing that I'm going to have to arrest all of you which means less people trying to get this city under control and believe it or not I don't want to arrest or harm any of you but if you continue to threaten and attack that man I'm afraid you will leave me little choice."
Not sure if this would be a Diplomacy check or an intimidate

"The city guard isn't automatically loyal to the queen," Kessel retorts, "we're here to keep order. I'm not here to prop up a false or unrightful ruler."
um wha? It seems like you are going the opposite of helpful Kessel... or did I just not read something right?

With kessels words, Keens threats and the presence of Celena the crowd by and large starts to find somewhere else to be, the large man give you a hateful look as he also finds pressing matters elsewhere. As the crowd finds somewhere else to be the noble makes a run for it cutting down some streets and is gone, leaving the party looking at a mostly empty street, but also feeling the hateful eyes of the common people on them as they make there way toward the cathedral
Once you return to Citadel Volshyenek and hand over the scandalous letters to Field Marshal Cressida Kroft, she blushes as she reads them and quickly passes them to a clerk for safe keeping, stating that they should work perfectly should the need for some leverage against the ambassador ever come up.
She thanks the you again, And tells you the clerk will see to your payment but keep any extra from the mission with Devargo as an extra award. And while she has things to attend she would like you to check back in a few days she thinks she may have more work for you
Ok ya have 500 gold pluse any left over from Devargo, that should be 350 for a total of 850 to split, and ya got 3 days of down time if ya would like to do some shopping or what have ya

wait, I thought we got 1,500 to spend to buy the letters with, of which we used 650 to pay for the letters, which leaves 850 from that pouch, plus the 500 gp should put the total up to 1,350 gp total... Maybe another wand for the group in Kessel's hands would be a good idea, but I could see not doing that as well -- we do have two paladins, one cleric, and a bard/druid in the group.

Kessel spends the time getting to know the city. Kessel spends a good deal of his time walking about and talking to people. He's also interested in finding fellow druids as well as possible mentors for his continued studies. Kessel knows he needs to learn and experience things if he is to become a Fochlucan lyrist.
In character Kessel isn't really sure what he wants or needs to learn but out of character he will need at least two levels of rogue so subconsciously that is what he's looking to learn. Kessel will also take Vencarlo Orisini up on his offer. Kessel is slightly embarrassed by his poor fighting skills.

It has been three days since your last vist to Citadel Volshyenek. And from the marshals words your are not all to surprised when you find your way back there after being summoned. As you make your way into her office Marshal Koft greets you as you enter.
"Thank you for coming, I needed someone who I could trust and the Guard is stretched thin at the moment. As you know the city is still at the brink of chaos and with the small riots, food shortages and attacks on the upper class the city is a tinderbox.
We have had servel young nobles beaten badly by groups of rioters, however I do not think they are acting without guidance. Some one is firing them up and aiming them at the upper class. I would like you to find out who and stop them. If they are not stopped soon I fear the queen will call in the Order of the black hand to do so. That is not something I want."
Kessel Cobey |
Kessel on the other hand isn't used to military training. Kessel removes his hat (if he's been given one) and salutes as he's been shown but he stands with his usual relaxed stance rather then at attention.
"We'd appreciate any intelligence you might have," Kessel says, "we could use a place to start if nothing else."

The marshal leans forward. "Clues as to who is behind it, no. Where they are yes that we have found. While we do not know who or why it seems to point toward a place in old Korvose called the sticky mermaid. Nice name huh, it's had issue with fights and we have shut it down more then once. If there is someone behind this it's there'

"Insiders perhaps looking to over throw the queen perhaps? But if we're talking about the docks there is a good possibility that an outside force is looking to gain support for an invasion. Having a landing site would be useful. Insiders might just want to gain control of food or trade . . ."
Kessel moves to one of the chairs in the field marshal's office (assuming she has some for interviews and such) and sits down without asking permission. He seems deeply lost in thought.
"I don't suppose there's been any correlation between these attacks and other crimes? Perhaps these nobles are somehow linked in some way?"
Kessel Cobey |
"We don't have access to the city guard reports out there Celena," Kessel calmly says, "I would like to find out as much information as we can before heading out. I would like to have a better idea of exactly what we're dealing with before we start asking around. I know the Field Marshal is under a lot of pressure and sometimes things can get over looked. I'd be doing her a disservice if I didn't ensure that we've asked all the right questions before heading out."
Keeper of Forbidden Lore |
The Marshal thinks on what Kessel has said before speaking "Right now we just do not know, the attacks seem at random just anyone of the upper class close to one of these groups. I really do not know if it's an outside force or someone wanting to bring down the upper class. What I do know is if someone high enough rank gets hurt then the queen will unleash the Knights of the black hand to put it down. I am not sure the city can take that right now , it will be chaos.
