Ha!

You knave! Piling more work for me to come back to! :p

That said; feel free to continue throwing future suggestions out there. I'll be more than happy to stat them up once I get back to it.

Well, today it proved to be a show-down between the remorhaz and the iron dragon. The iron dragon box felt a tad fuller, and it proved to have a hezrou in it, which I did not have from the previous sets.

All hail the iron dragon!

I also picked up an immature aboleth, but alas, he only had a gold dragon in his box.

Sovereign Court

I could totally see the Yochlol and the Scarecrow Tempter as "Gene"-ized. I can already see his column layout, and imagine clicking to launch his .pdf...

Ah, perhaps it is just a matter of time then... because nobody does an Earth Archon Rumbler better than Gene, ... nobody!

I was happy to get the scarecrow stalker, but alas, no yochlol tempter yet. Earth archon rumbler, you say?

Liberty's Edge

'Kay, so the list of stuff to stat after my break (and after the adamantine dragon release) is as follows:
Adult Brown Dragon (CR X - Legendary Evils Mini)
Earth Archon Rumbler (CR X - Legendary Evils Mini)
Elder Iron Dragon (CR X - Legendary Evils Mini)
Elder Green Dragon (CR X - Legendary Evils Mini)
Remorhaz 'Gene-style'
Scarecrow Stalker (CR X - Legendary Evils Mini)
Yochlol Tempter (CR X - Legendary Evils Mini)

I miss anything?

---

Also of note; I've gotten a Pathfinder version of my stat blocks together; it matches the actual Pathfinder blocks almost exactly (beyond their using a font that I don't think I have) except for those images that they use on theirs.

I looked at what kind of effort it's going to take to move most of the conversions over to Pathfinder and it's going to be a mammoth task (one that I'll probably enjoy in some sort of sadistic way, mind you). I think I'll wait until the bestiary has been released to start on 4E > 3.5 > Pathfinder conversions; at least with any great amount of effort.

I'll probably put one or two out soon-ish just to see what you folks think of them. I think I'll be dropping monster CRs by 1 across the board, though, to account for Pathfinder characters being much tougher (as a rule) than 3.5 characters.

---

And a quick statblock update. I've changed the Shadowhunter Bat's alignment to correctly read 'N' instead of "TN.' It is also no longer an 'Amimal' but not an 'Animal' as it is supposed to be. Also fixed was a placement error in the Base Attack Bonus/Grapple/Size/Reach line; speed is up there and it shouldn't be.

Here's a link for anyone who wishes to grab the updated file:
Bat, Shadowhunter

I haven't updated the Creature Conversion Compendium with this fix; but it'll be in there come the next update.

---

EDIT: Okay; here's a quick Shadowhunter Bat conversion from 4E > 3.5 > Pathfinder, this should showcase the new format well enough, I think:
Pathfinder - Bat, Shadowhunter

EDIT 2: Lots of error fixes are on the horizon too. I hadn't realized how many mistakes I've made formatting wise. I'm also updating save DCs pretty much across the board to what they should be - looking back, some of them are WAY too low for the CR that they're found in. Do note, that most of these fixes are going to be cosmetic (except for the save DC updates) so they won't necessarily require new printouts. I will also have a separate sheet that lists all of the fixes for those who want to have them but don't want to print out all new stat blocks.

Going to do the UPS dragon, eh? It seems like the most uninspiring name and color for a dragon, ever. Poop dragon? Why not just call it an Earth Dragon or a Desert Dragon or something? A Chocolote Dragon sounds like something you'd give the kiddies on Bahamaut's Day.

What can Brown do for me? It can get the hell out of the miniature dragon business, that's what. The only thing it should have to do with minis is delivering them to me.

I've been wondering what color to eventually repaint it.

How about the Blood Scarab? (Which looks like a giant dung beetle... I can't get a Rust Monster for the life of me, but I keep getting dung beetles!)

Brown Dragons date all the way back to 1980 in Dragon issue #38, although those Browns were forest-dwellers. The desert-dwelling Brown Dragon idea didn't start until 1990, I think, with FR10 Old Empires. It's not just some lame new 4e invention.

You could probably repaint it as a serviceable gold dragon.

Sure. I never said 4e had a lock on lame; there's old lame stuff, too.

Exhibit A: Brown Dragon. Still, I appreciate the background info, Kvantum, and may be "just" was a giveaway in your last sentence. ;-)
It always amazes me when people have that kind of info rattling around in their upstairs.

I no longer need a GOLD DRAGON. Did I mention I got a GOLD DRAGON in my latest aboleth box? 'cause I did...get a GOLD DRAGON, that is.

Spoiler:

GOLD DRAGON!

Lucky!

Having 40 minis with 8 visibles, it really seems like your chances improve in collecting. Is it because the breakdown of rare/uncommon/common is different? Somebody come and do math and prove me right (unless I'm wrong).

Distribution is better is this set. I bought a case of 8 packs and got a complete set of the huges (uncommon), 8 different larges (rare), 8 different medium rares, and 2 of each common. This is the very first time I didn't get any repeat rares. I only had to buy 8 more figs from ebay to fill out my set.

Liberty's Edge

It's good to know that they're finally getting distribution down as it should be.

Oh how I remember the days of ordering a case and getting three of those gods-be-damned bluespawn godslayers.

Liberty's Edge

I picked up 4 packs from my FLGS this weekend and was reasonably pleased. The only huge I didn't like was the huge green. Its head and neck are too small -looks like they belong on a large mini. That one will get a makeover with a longer neck and Pathfinder green dragon head.

OTT, the quality was okay. Painting quality took bit of a slide down from the last set and some of the commons are not very useful (minotaurs? scarecrows?). Sculpts are still pretty solid. 2.5/5 stars.

Just goes to show -- I was excited about the minotaurs and scarecrows.

Begins the construction of two summoning circles.

Liberty's Edge

So s'pose my little vacation's over, eh?

*picks up an e-pencil*

Back to work, indeed.

Okay, question for the dragon wanting folks. Would you guys mind if I stated the dragons up like they do in the Monster Manual (ex. no stat block for each dragon) but give a full block for the mini that the group of dragons is based around? For example, the brown dragon, it's an adult; so I'd give the blocks like in the Monster Manual then throw out a full block of the adult brown dragon as an 'example' of sorts. Would you guys be okay with this, it'll really expedite the process?

The exception to the above would be the elder green dragon which I'll just provide a stat block for and no additional stuff.

That aside, here's the current list of what needs done:
Adamantine Dragon (CR Variable - Against the Giants mini) - Update the Bestiary
- Young mini
Brown Dragon (CR Variable - Legendary Evils Mini)
- Adult mini
Iron Dragon (CR Variable - Legendary Evils Mini)
- Elder mini
Blood Scarab (CR 2 - Dangerous Delves Mini)
Minotaur Thug (CR 2 - Legendary Evils mini)
- This one's gonna be... interesting. Maybe base it on the Krynnish minotaurs?
Scarecrow Stalker (CR 5 - Legendary Evils Mini)
Remorhaz 'Gene-style' (CR ~8 - I assume this means take the mini and tack its abilities onto a stock remorhaz)
Yochlol Tempter (CR 12 - Legendary Evils Mini)
Earth Archon Rumbler (CR 12 - Legendary Evils Mini)
Elder Green Dragon (CR 13 - Legendary Evils Mini)
- Huge-sized; adult

I plan to tackle the dragons first because I figure getting them all set up and formatted is going to be hell. They'll probably be my first two-page monsters.

Chances are I'll get started on stuff tomorrow; I'm currently working on a little side monster project that I'd like to get finished up later today.

WOW! I just missed you guys...I had no idea of how much power I had!

I mean...not that I'm surprised or anything...

Seriously Gene, I wasn't trying to disrespect your vacation. But if you are ready to jump back on the conversion treadmill, then of course I am happy to offer my meager support. I'm fine with your approach to the dragons.

Finishes other circle.

Liberty's Edge

Ah, you're hardly disrespecting my vacation; it was about time for me to crawl forth from my hole anyways. Early birds and all that. :D

Now we must wait for Pax.

STATS FOR THE SCARECROW
—Music by John Melancamp, Lyrics by Pax Veritas

Scarecrow in a bubble box, Yochlol can't be found,
Mairkurions buying minis, while Gene is out of town,
He found a big gold dragon in a lucky aboleth case,
He paused to post about it here, hoping Gene would show his face.

Chorus:
Stats for the scarecrow not 4e now
3.5 still popular, Pathfinder makes us proud
And Gene we're so happy there's more for you to stat now
Stats for the scarecrow not 4e now
Stats for the scarecrow not 4e now

The minis you did before summer werent enough to play the game
Adamantine, brown and iron! our players will go insane!
You're waitin' for your old friend Pax to show up, then we'll have all three
I say Gene its all your work you don't need Mairkurion or me
But singing for your work ol hoss sure seems to delight
And if you want me to Ill stay and sing for your stats tonight
Cause Gene is back in business now, with a pencil in his hand
Sometimes I think he's saving us from 4e that we can't stand
When they throw away the game's history and slay our sacred cows

Therell be stats for the scarecrow v35 now
Stats for the scarecrow not 4e now

Well theres fourth edition minis waitin' for the great Gene to stat
Our v35/Pathfinder games need them to be converted back
I think about the fun we have and how Gene's conversions rock!
And some nights I feel like a CR5 like that scarecrow's new stat block!

Chorus:
Stats for the scarecrow not 4e now
3 point 5 still popular, Pathfinder makes us proud
And Gene we're so happy there's more for you to stat now
Stats for the scarecrow not 4e now
Stats for the scarecrow not 4e now

Stats for the scarecrow not 4e now
3 point 5 still popular, Pathfinder makes us proud
And Gene we're so happy there's more for you to stat now
Stats for the scarecrow not 4e now

WOW. Just WOW. 8O

Starts singing along with Pax, looking for an obvious place to work "Minotaur Battle Shaman" into the lyrics.

The first of the dragons has finally arrived; I give you the admantine dragon in all of its terrific glory:
Adamantine Dragons

This is actually the first two-page entry to be going into the Compendium. Included is all the information for all age categories of dragons as well as two sample dragons (both large-sized so that they can be used with the mini) for use in play.

And no, I didn't include their hoards. :p

Next up on the statblock front are the brown dragons followed by the iron dragons. Between working on the dragons I've been going through and updating older statblocks which is why these conversions are taking awhile longer than is usual.

I'm not activeyly buying anything from the wotci. But once Gene's book nears fullness after this wave, I'll go back and cross reference then pick up the singles I need to run Pathfinder Games using Gene's v.3.5 stats.

I'm in the same boat; though I'm in it more so due to not having the money to spend on the plastic crack. Admittedly, some (okay, a good number) of the new minis interest me... I want one of those balors dammit! :D

Speaking of this; after the next monster release I've got a bestiary update coming. Thanks for reminding me.

I doubt you'll have any trouble using my statblocks with Pathfinder; I doubt you'd even need to adjust the CR as most of my beasties are a bit more 'optimized' than core creatures are.

I wish they'd release the bestiary already; I'm kind of eager to start converting the 3.5 conversions over to Pathfinder.

Would it make you feel better or worse, Gene, to hear today's mini buying story?

Spoiler:
40% Coupon sent me back for more of that plastic crack today. They were running low on Dangerous Delves, and though I want to eventually get a second aboleth, I didn't feel good about this paint job or this box. So I picked up a Demonweb (I space out buying the expensive boxes.) Lo and behold, Stormrage BLUE DRAGON. I used to never get dragons, now it just seems I get them all the time.

Should have a mini update in a bit. Not gonna be a dragon (sorry folks) but the brown dragon is taking a bit longer to stat than I'd thought it would so I figured I may as well get something out for you guys.

So...what are people doing with these grues. There appear to be different kinds of grues. Thoughts?

Liberty's Edge

Well, y'see, the thing about grues is that they tend to never leave areas that are dark. As such, nobody has even seen one, and those that claim to have seen a grue are liars because if they had seen a grue, they'd be dead...

...

Man I need to play the old Zork games again. :D

---

Apologies for the lack of updates, been having some computer troubles on my end. I'm working on getting everything sorted out so that I can get back to work on these things.

And what the heck is the relationship between the foulspawn and the grue?

Of these, all I've seen so far is the Foulspawn seer, who is waving at me from the table as I post.

Sorry to hear of your computer problems, Gene. Hope they cost little in terms of frustration or money.

Way to bait a flame war. You don't want me to explain any 4e flavor here[/sarcasm]

Here's a bit from the MM:
FOULSPAWN ARE DERANGED HUMANOIDS corrupted by contact
with the Far Realm, a maddening and distant plane.
Foulspawn come in many shapes and sizes, but they share a
universal contempt for natural creatures.
Foulspawn gather in roving packs and are drawn to serve
powerful aberrant creatures such as aboleths, beholders, and
mind flayers.

In the first MM there are the grue, seer, mangler, berserker, and hulk. All have minis except the berserker. And my favorite is the mangler (sadly, both I had were sold).

Thanks, GW.

So if I don't want to have this 4e flavor converted into 3e crunch, then I need to look at the minis individually and figure out what they are in my 3e world. Some of them look like they could be vampires, frankly. The seer looks like he might be some kind of ogrekin?

Any other ideas?

Heh, I love it Pax!

I'd also love to say I can get back to stating things soon. But alas I cannot; this week is hellishly busy, gotta prepare for halloween (gotta love how I live in the middle of nowhere but every year we get TONS of kids out here trick-or-treating), have some cleaning to do over at a relatives that I figure will take a few days, and on top of that I've got a D&D game to prep for on Friday/Saturday.

Sooooooo, no updates this week. If all goes well I should have some time next week to dedicate to writing up some new critters for folks to slay. I really should get back to updating all the old monsters as well, but that's time consuming and I'd rather get something new out than work on them. At least with new stuff you guys see what you get; with the old stuff I've probably got another couple days worth of work to do on them.

One bit of good news, though, is that since the Pathfinder SRD now has monster information on it, I can start working on my 3.5 to Pathfinder conversions. Those are going to be fun, I think.

!!!Dragon Update!!! (Also post number 500! :D )

Today it's the brown dragon:
Dragons, Brown

Quick word of warning for those expecting a traditional take on this one; this isn't a desert dwelling dragon anymore, this one is a forest dweller and it's going to be at serious odds with the green dragons. Should prove interesting I think.

Up next are the iron dragons! Hopefully this update won't take me a month to get out of the door! :p

Thankfully, once the iron dragons are done I'll be moving onto 'normal' stuff again, the current 'list' of what's getting done is as follows:
Iron Dragon (CR Variable - Legendary Evils Mini)
- Elder mini
Minotaur Thug (CR 2 - Legendary Evils mini)
- This one's gonna be... interesting. Maybe base it on the Krynnish minotaurs?
Remorhaz 'Gene-style' (CR ~8 - I assume this means take the mini and tack its abilities onto a stock remorhaz)
Minotaur Battle Shaman (CR 10 - In the Works; have seperate stats) - Update Bestiary
Yochlol Tempter (CR 12 - Legendary Evils Mini)
Earth Archon Rumbler (CR 12 - Legendary Evils Mini)
Elder Green Dragon (CR 13 - Legendary Evils Mini)
- Huge-sized; adult (just add additional abilities and whatnot)

---

The updates of all the older stat blocks are progressing, albeit slowly. I should have them out either later this month or sometime next month; barring catastrophe.
