Important note for Monday's 8th Commissions

I need to point out again that the open commissions DO have to meet the requirements. One of the Most important is that the character can be fitted as a standard member of his/her race or culture.

If you want a halfling the person that posts a Halfling that fits better a stanrad golarion halfling will get the commission, even if someone posted a Halfling before. This is because I'm going to do a "poster" to potrait all standard races and cultures of Golarion, and I need to potrait every race and culture on its most standard way. You won't see Gnomes in full plate, half-orcs playing harps or Kellids in Velvet coats and top hats (even if the hat dances!).

That's the reason the character I'll select will have to fit as good as possible as an "Iconic" of his race/culture. A halfling with long/short hair, lightli armored and holding a bow/sling/shortsword etc its more an iconic than a fully armored one or one holding a warhammer or such.

This is the order of priorities for me to select the commissions:
1. People I haven't made a draw for.
2. Character meets the requirements
3. Posts it first (second, third, etc).

So, if I haven't drawn nothing for you yet and you are the first post a character that unfortunately doesn't fit the requirements very well and a second "new" person post the same character and it does fit the requirements better, I will select the second post.

I hope you are all OK with these "requirements" and they don't prove too much of a difficulty to fill this commissions. :)

Those two Sheddim folk are pretty scary-cool. Nice work.

HA! You're not going to be able to get that out of your head now. Now, if you ever feel the need to throw a savage halfling wearing a dancing top-hat and wielding a paradoxically liquid sword into your games, then I have you!

On a side note, it is really a shame that that character wouldn't be "iconic". It sounds awesome. And for the record, he's an artificer (or wizard). with levels in druid (never mind that it doesn't make sense. that's the whole point.).

Dark Archive

So this totally doesn't fit Hugo's criteria, but I'm throwing it out there for the other talented folks to consider.

I have a vision in my (sadly artistically bereft) skull of a holy symbol of Sarenrae that is also a scimitar.

The body of the goddess is the hilt. One of her arms is thrust out in front of her, raised to the sky above her head, which is tilted upwards, as if facing the sun. The other arm is angled behind her and downwards to the ground, still at an angle from her body, which is arched fairly noticeably.

Instead of two wings fanning out to the sides, her wings have swept straight back and are touching, being a single blade of curved metal (with jagged edges from the stylized feathers of the wing-structure).

Due to the odd posture she is in, her arms serve as the crossguards of teh sword, just as her arched torso and legs serve as the hilt, and the edge of the curved blade / joined 'wing' angles away from her 'face' (so that the face of the goddess ends up facing the holder of the sword, as he faces the edge of the blade away from himself).

Obviously the representation would have to be stylized a little bit, so that the blade is serviceable, and the goddess isn't bent like a contortionist, but it *sounds* (in my, again, artistically suspect brain) really really cool-looking...

This is not for a character that I'm working on or anything, so if this doesn't get drawn for months, I'm cool with that. :)

Ya...unless anyone (or you) objects, I'm going to take this. I'm posting my last commission tomorrow and I want to clear my brain of adventurers for a bit.

Thanks, man! Gypsy was actually what I was going for originally- I switched PbPs, so her description and background got changed after the fact.

Rats! I'll never get my Varisian drawn by you at this rate :P Damn you Shiny *fist shake*

Sorry...

I could always give it a stab. I'm nowhere near as good as Hugo, but it's something, at least.

My progress:

- Variel, elf rogue - almost finished
- Tristan Lidu, alienist - working on thumbnails
- Possible Varisian? - need to hear back from Kayos

Hehehe, that criteria is just for those commissions! Everybody else takes what they want how they want! :D

On other subject, did you see you Arow-Catching Contest to pick a leader come to life?

Was that one of my 'what are the goblins doing' ideas? Holy crud, I totally forgot! It was definitely neat. I liked seeing the kobold there too.

Liberty's Edge

Whoever commissioned Variel, elf rogue:

I am having major problems with this one- I have discarded two nearly finished versions, and am almost at the point of scrapping the commission. If you could, could you provide a photo reference of an "action pose" so I could capture some motion in this character? It would be greatly appreciated.

Scarab Sages

Ok. Here's Darriken, a Duskblade and the last member in the party commissioned by Gorbacz. I think he turned out pretty well. Anyhow, enjoy.

i repeat myself from the deviantart forum

i love the sword, i would just have liked a bit more stilized hilt, the swords form gives me the impresion of motion as if the fire would travel from the hilt to the point in circular motion when it hit

i really liked it :D

Ok, I totally was not expecting that. Awesome. Aren't great surprises you weren't expecting awesome?

Next, I want a pony. A jet engine powered pony of DOOM! (kidding. just kidding.)

But seriously, I can't thank you enough. This picture is the new mascot and symbol of our group. one player's a halfling, one has a doncing hat, one uses a mercuring longsword and one is extremely savage and brutal. awesome!

Hey! I put in a request to have a character drawn up and am hoping that I get picked this round :-D

Here was my original post.

I am a 7th Level Male Litorian (A lion on two legs) Paladin of the Goddess Gaen named Kelethar the Magnificent. I am a member of the Knights of the Cross, which means that I have their symbol painted on my chest for all the world to see. In regards to armor, I have Full Plate +1 with spikes, a buckler and a Weapon of Legacy (The Sword of Hope +1 great sword that was given to me by angels for rescuing the First Angel from the Dark Reliquary). I also have brute gauntlets, an amulet of wink, a crystal of damage reduction on my suit of armor, a crystal of deflection on my buckler and a crystal of fire on my sword. As a look at my character, I have an extraordinary amount of diplomacy on my character (+20) and as a bit of flavor, my DM has allowed the Bard to braid my mane with ribbons so that I can get a +1 to diplomacy and -1 to intimidate.

BTW Hugo, I live in the Palo Alto Area of CA and I actually play football with some guys who work at a comic book store. If you would like me to ask them to put your stuff up, let me know. I would probably just take some of your pics from your deviant art page and see if they would be willing to put up your art. Just a thought...

Hugo, does this fit your criteria?

Lyra Darkwalker - An Osirion human female cleric of Pharasma dressed in clothes of mourning, armed with a scythe.

A simple description, I know, but tell me what you think. ;)

Cheers! :D

Alright, Tristan Lidu is DONE. I just need to scan the drawing and upload it. I actually like how this one came out.

Variel is also done, but I am decidedly not pleased with how it came out. It demands re-do.

Both will be uploaded soon- probably tomorrow.

Yay! I've been kinda waiting for this before working on my journal. I've gotten a couple of pokes from readers and one bump (nothing like the James Jacobs journal mind you) I'll update my journal with this and get back to work on the writing!

Thanks Shiny, I can hardly wait!

Wow, a litorian! I'd love to!, but right now I'm only opening for certain human cultures of Golarion and a Halfling... sorry!.

And the comic store offer sounds tempting, If you can throw a jhint at them and show them the gallery I would appreciated it ;)

Ok Set, Good news, bad news time:

- Good News: I have a pose that will most likely work.
- Bad News: No idea if you'll like it. My view of "Goddess" may not match yours in physique, and I did take some liberty with the pose and dress. Also, no color despite her supposedly having sun-yellow and white as a color theme.
- Good News: I'll most likely have it done by monday. I got some help from an actual artist to help me.
- Bad News: You'll have to wait till monday when I can scan it.
- Good News: You'll also get all the scrap work that she and I did, and most likely a couple of other, non-scimitar weapons along a similar theme.
-Bad News: Uh...that's really all the news I had, but I did have a horrible time reading The Wooden Sword by Lynn Abbey. Such promising characters and setting, but a plot I think was both rushed and badly written. So ya. didn't enjoy that. That's kind of bad news.

Cool, I've got Poser on this computer, and considered trying to twist a figure around to see if it was do-able, but I'm techno-illiterate, and failed to get it loaded up...

I expected black and white anyway.

Anything that evokes the image of Sarenrae's holy symbol is cool. Stylized and mostly featureless is fine, since the body and face of the goddess is only going to be the hilt of the sword anyway, and likely only a quarter of the size (or less) in the overall picture, compared to the wings/blade.

When I read something I don't care for, I usually go back and re-read something I love, like Zelazny's Lord of Light or Feist's Magician, to 'get the taste out of my mouth.' :)

Eldritch: As far as pose goes, it's completely up to you. I'm appreciative of the fact you're even doing it at all. However, i do envision him sitting at a round wooden table in a tavern with a female (any race, as long as they're hot) at each side. Perhaps even a beautiful barmaid pouring some wine in his glass. His equipment visible, at least his weapons, mostly to show off to the girls. But it's up to you, i can't wait to see what you're vision is ;)
