Favorite Armor Enchantment

Just curious what everyone's favorite armor enchantment (and/or augment crystal) is. Please feel free to share stories of how said enchantment saved your butt.

Heavy Fortification. Even as a +5 ability this is way cheap (+1 heavy fort armor only costs 36K plus the MW armor) to avoid all critical hit extra damage and sneak attack extra damage. In a giant heavy campaign, this saved my character many, many times, since when a giant with fighter levels crits, it HURTs.


I know that it's not an armour enchantment or augment crystal, but I'm very fond of the special material known as mithral/mithril.

Making full plate mail out of this material gets the armour to +8/+3/-3 (armour bonus/max. Dexterity bonus/armour check penalty), and it counts as medium armour. A judicious selection of class features (both base and prestige), feats, etc. can further increase the max. Dexterity bonus and allow for faster movement.

See that elven warrior in full plate? He may be 50 feet away, but he can still charge you in the surprise round and attack you. (Okay, so that particular build was at L 15, but it's still an entertaining idea.) :)


It is kind of sad that the standard +x is rather worthless compared to many of the armor enchantments. I have to second the vote on fortification, but I also must give a shout out to the Blurr enchantment. 20% miss chance makes that fragile bard/swashbuckler live a lot longer.

I need to see about making a synergy system for the standard +1, +2, +3, etc. Something like maybe the bonuses from fortification or energy resistance are based on the "power" of the armor, aka, the plus of the armor. Hmmm. Could work for weapons too....

Maybe something like this?

Ambush Armor. You receive a +2 bonus to initiative per plus of the armor.

Armor of Explosion Protection. You receive a circumstance bonus to Reflex saves equal to the enhancement bonus of the armor.

Armor of Confidence. You receive a circumstance bonus to Will saves equal to the enhancement bonus of the armor.

Armor of the Steadfast. You receive a circumstance bonus to Fortitude saves equal to the enhancement bonus of the armor.

Armor of Ray Deflection. You add the enhancement bonus of the armor to your touch AC.

Lesser Armor of Energy Resistance. You gain energy resistance 5 multiplied by the enhancement bonus of the armor.

Greater Armor of Energy Resistance. You gain energy resistance 10 multiplied by the enhancement bonus of the armor.

Armor of Displacement. Opponents have a 10% miss chance per plus of enhancement bonus of your armor.

Armor of Fortification. You have a 20% chance per enhancement bonus of your armor to ignore the extra damage from critical hits and sneak attacks.

Lesser Armor of Celerity. You gain a 5 foot increase in speed per enhancement bonus of your armor.

Greater Armor of Celerity. You gain a 10 foot increase in speed per enhancement bonus of your armor.

Acrobatic Armor. You gain a +2 competence bonus to Balance, Escape Artist, and Tumble checks per enhancement bonus of your armor.

Athletic Armor. You gain a +2 competence bonus to Climb, Jump, and Swim checks per enhancement bonus of your armor.

Stealthy Armor. You gain a +2 competence bonus to Hide and Move Silently checks per enhancement bonus of your armor.

Lesser Armor of Invulnerability. You gain DR 1/- per plus of enhancement bonus of your armor.

Greater Armor of Invulnerability. You gain DR 2/- per plus of enhancement bonus of your armor.

Armor of the Fey. You gain DR 2/cold iron per plus of enhancement bonus of your armor.

Armor of the Moonkissed. You gain DR 2/silver per plus of enhancement bonus of your armor.

Armor of the Created. You gain DR 2/adamantine per plus of enhancement bonus of your armor.

Skeletal Armor. You gain DR 2/bludgeoning per plus of enhancement bonus of your armor.

Zombie Armor. You gain DR 2/slashing per plus of enhancement bonus of your armor.

Rakshasa Armor. You gain DR 2/piercing per plus of enhancement bonus of your armor.

Armor of Spell Resistance. You gain SR 10 + 4 per plus of enhancement bonus of your armor.

Where are those from? I can't seem to find ones like Armor of Confidence or Ambush Armor.
