Free Early MP3s

Music & Audio

For those of you who like to use early music as background in games (or simply for life), you might want to know that the sampler The Very Best of Naxos Early Music is available as a free download on Amazon.

Bump...did I mention that these were FREE downloads, and not from some crappy outfit, but a legit label?

That is fantastic, shame it won't let me down-load because I don't live in America....

I always thought of you Aussies as a hardy lot, but you live without Amazon? Now you really do have my respect...

Sniff, sniff....I didn't realise what we are missing until now. The funny thing is we can order whatever off Amazon....but not downloads. I don't get it???

WINE EXPERT:

A lot of people in this country pooh-pooh Australian table wines. This is a pity as many fine Australian wines appeal not only to the Australian palate but also to the cognoscenti of Great Britain.

Black Stump Bordeaux is rightly praised as a peppermint flavoured Burgundy, whilst a good Sydney Syrup can rank with any of the world's best sugary wines.

Château Blue, too, has won many prizes; not least for its taste, and its lingering afterburn.

Old Smokey 1968 has been compared favourably to a Welsh claret, whilst the Australian Wino Society thoroughly recommends a 1970 Coq du Rod Laver, which, believe me, has a kick on it like a mule: eight bottles of this and you're really finished. At the opening of the Sydney Bridge Club, they were fishing them out of the main sewers every half an hour.

Of the sparkling wines, the most famous is Perth Pink. This is a bottle with a message in, and the message is 'beware'. This is not a wine for drinking, this is a wine for laying down and avoiding.

Another good fighting wine is Melbourne Old-and-Yellow, which is particularly heavy and should be used only for hand-to-hand combat.

Quite the reverse is true of Château Chunder, which is an appellation contrôlée, specially grown for those keen on regurgitation; a fine wine which really opens up the sluices at both ends.

Real emetic fans will also go for a Hobart Muddy, and a prize winning Cuivre Reserve Château Bottled Nuit San Wogga Wogga, which has a bouquet like an aborigine's armpit.

Thanks for the heads up on the music it'll go great with my Gregorian chants, movie soundtracks and the Anonymous 4 stuff I use for my games.

Huzzah the free music! I've downloaded them and added them to my gaming music files...as if the 3GB of music I already had wasn't enough.

Thanks for the tip.

Glad to see this is being of use. I'm listening to the album as I browse the boards. I had never heard early music until a music class in college--one of those epiphanic moments.

MP's take on Aussie wines was hilarious. I'm guessing it was written early on in their appearance on the market? Just thinking about it makes me want to pick up some Shi-rAzz.

The sketch was written for the first Secret Policeman's Ball, a couple of years after the MP series when off the air. If you haven't seen the Secret Policeman's Ball try to, it has all the best in 70's British comedians in it.

Thread resurrection!

I know some of these gals, and I love their voices!

is there any EASY way to get all the free songs, other than one by one?

Not that I know of. Of course, if you're in Dallas, I could give you concert info and you could buy a CD. But I'll look into it. (I assume you're talking about Armonia Celeste, not the original post.)
