Would anybody be interested in either running this campaign using Saga rules or playing in it. I would love to play in it but would be willing to run it at a push?

ummm damn to many things going on to run or I would but I would kill a wookie to play in this.

Scarab Sages

I'm still waiting for them to finish releasing all the adventures before I attempt to run DoD again. I ran it through the 5th adventure but got tired of having to stop game for months at a time while we waited for the next adventure to come out. That being said, once the final adventure is released I will be restarting a DoD game.

well pbp games run far slower and truth is it'll prob be finished b4 a group can get more then half way though on pbp

Please, count me in as a PbP player (my first ever!). I have an excellent concept for a Wookiee bounty hunter.

Dark Archive

I would love to play. I'm too busy too run though.

OK, I'll see if we can get 5 players and then I might look at running this.

One.

Curious to see how this works, have been looking at the Dawn of defiance but have really no working knowledge of either running or playing Saga edition star wars.

Do have the core rule book for this though.

Would be interested in joining in if thats okay?

I know nothing of this path but I do see 4 players so far.

Dark Archive

What sourcebooks should we use? I have all the books released so far, so I want to know if I should just use the core book or if I can uses other options?

Two! I would love to play, and would even be willing to GM, though I've never had any PBP XP. I would need guidance.

Three

I'd have to seriously bone up on Saga Rules but you can count me in for four. It'll give me a chance to actually use my Star Wars RPG Books rather than just reading them.

I have the core book only but can get others that are needed. What era any class off limts I know nothing of this path but the name.

I'm currently running DoD for my group and am in the same situation. Basically, been throwing in side adventures into the campaign. On the bright side it is fun and wish you guys have a blast like we are.

The story is set in the months directly after Revenge of the Sith, so the Era is Rise of the Empire.

If possible I would like to play a Jensaari Defender (Core Rulebook p.106-107). It is a Force Using Tradition with it's own Talent Tree that is seperate from the Jedi Order, but still utilizes a lot of the same rules.
Race would probably be a Miraluka.

did they not come into being during the war? I didnt think they ever left or even had there tradition formed well to after the emperors fall? I may be wrong but pretty sure there less then 4 decades old and very very hostile to outsiders until many years after that.

They came into being during the Clone Wars. They are playable from the Rise of the Empire Era (22-32 Before A New Hope) onwards.

I posted a link with some good info above might be useful for char background

Damn! Reading through the posts for people interested I think I actually come out as number 6 (assuming everyone who showed an interest still wants to play). =(

I am still really interested, so if anyone drops out or you'll accept 6 then I'm more than happy to continue to play.

Dark Archive

I would like to play a Human soldier who was raised by the Mandalorians who currently works as a mercenary.

I was looking at playing a Quarren Soldier whom fought for the Separatists during the war and now its over, he's pretty much exiled from his home world and the universe has gotten far worse...

I am assuming 25pts as standard rules in the Saga edition?

Still working on the name though...

well we have the players but do we have a GM?

Was thinking fallen Jedi or ex fighter pilot

Liberty's Edge

I would be willing to GM this but would need to start in 2 weeks if all of you would be interested?

Don't mind at all!

Hope this character is okay.

Dark Archive

Nope, no problem at all.

Big Bubba; I was going to run this but would much prefer it if you would run it so that I could play in it. I will post a concept for the character in the next few days. I suppose its down to you really who you choose to let play in this. Good luck.

big bubba 2 weeks is fine if ya give use guild lines we would get chacters ready and such

OK here it is, quicker than I thought it would be!

Character concept:- Human (Mandalorian) Soldier. Called Phen Ordo.

Background:

Spoiler:
The Mandalorian Civil War
Some one hundred years before the Battle of Yavin, the leader of the Mandalorians was assassinated by the bounty hunter Durge. The Mandalorians struck back, and inflicted terrible tortures on the bounty hunter, but he managed to escape and entered into hibernation to heal his wounds.

In 60 BBY a schism occurred in their ranks. A violent splinter group, known as the Mandalorian Death Watch, revolted against the leadership of Jaster Mereel, who led the True Mandalorian loyalist faction, along with his Brother's adopted son, Rotok Scarr, due to Mereel's proposed Supercommando Codex reforms.

Eventually the civil war between these groups spilled over to the pastoral world of Concord Dawn. Here the Death Watch leader Vizsla attempted to murder Jaster. However, thanks to the assistance of a young orphan named Jango Fett, Jaster and his followers escaped the trap. Eventually, Vizsla caught up to Jaster and the Mandalorians on a distant world and, due to the treachery of fellow Mandalorian Montross, Jaster Mereel was killed in battle.

Jaster's protégé, Jango, took over the reins of leadership, despite Montross's disparaging comment that it would mean a "child leading them." Jango's tenure as Mandalorian leader ended at the Battle of Galidraan, where a Jedi task force under the leadership of Master Dooku led to the death of every remaining Mandalorian, except for Jango. Dooku remembered Jango and later employed Jango to be the Prime Clone after Dooku left the Jedi Order.

After this disaster, the Mandalorians were effectively ended as a fighting force in the galaxy. Individuals survived on both Mandalore and in other isolated pockets of known space, but they played little influence on galactic affairs until the Clone Wars, when Jango Fett became the template for a Grand Army of the Republic on Kamino.

However, sometime before 32 BBY and while Palpatine was still a mere senator, the corrupt Governor of Mandalore, Vrox, started to send out members of the Mandalorian Armed Forces on sanctioned raids against worlds in nearby systems in order to plunder them and steal their riches. In addition to this, Vrox began producing outlawed battle droids, known as JU-9 Juggernaut War Droids.

The Republic soon sent a Republican Army task force along with several Jedi, including Voli Quana, to bring an end to the raids and stop the production of the droids. The ensuing battle was bloody, and once again ended in the near annihilation of the Mandalorian forces, as well as the capture of Vrox.

With Jango Fett being the clone donor, many elements of the Mando'ade culture made it into the Grand Army of the Republic ranks. This was boosted by the Cuy'val Dar, and Mandalorian training sergeants like Kal Skirata and Walon Vau.

Kal Skirata trained the Null ARCs, and they viewed him as a father and them his sons. Kal taught the Mandalorian culture and language to the Null ARCs, as well as the Clone commandos. Eventually, the language and culture began to spread through the ranks of clones, and warrior chants like Vode An and Rage of the Shadow Warriors( Dha Werda Verda ) became commonly sung as a morale booster, although some clones did not appear to display appreciation of their Mandalorian heritage.

Throughout the war, the clones would be faced with many grueling situations, and often took heavy casualties, despite their Mandalorian training.

However, following the rise of the Galactic Empire, the transition of clone troopers into Imperial stormtroopers, the ranks of the troopers were joined with other clones and regular recruits. It is unlikely that the Empire continued to recruit former Mandalorians and Death Watch soldiers to train the clones of any template, thus future Fett clones grew up without their template's Mandalorian heritage and the once pure Jango Fett clone army lost its sense of being Mandalorian.

However, many retired clone commandos and troopers from the Clone Wars married and moved to one of the neighboring planets of Mandalore. Eventually, this planet was viewed as one of the homeworlds of the Mandalorians and was often used for training.

Phen Ordo was one of the soldiers assisting training of the Grand Army of the Republic on Kamino. After the Clone Wars he married another Mandalorain soldier, a woman named Bress. She was killed in a freighter 'accident' when it was hit by the explosion of a smugglers ship that was involved in a battle with an Imperial ship.

Phen has now resolved himself to the life of a mercenary and bounty hunter.

"The Mandalorians still live, Clan Ordo still lives" - Canderous Ordo

"In five millennia, the Mandalorians fought with and against a thousand armies on a thousand worlds. They learned to speak as many languages and absorbed weapons technology and tactics from every war. And yet, despite the overwhelming influence of alien cultures, and the absence of a true home world and even species, their own language not only survived but changed little; their way of life and their philosophy remained untouched; and their ideals and sense of family, of identity of nation, were only strengthened. Armor is not what makes a Mandalorian. Armor is simply a manifestation of an impenetrable, unassailable heart."
―Passage from "Mandalorians: Identity and Language"

"You can't rule Mandalorians. You just make sensible suggestions they want to follow. And since when have Mandalorians needed to be told what makes sense?"
―Boba Fett's view on Mandalorians

Very interested. Having shot my mouth off about a Wookiee Bounty Hunter, I will get back to you all with a character concept, which may or may not be said Wookiee!

Dark Archive

We already have three soldiers, maybe we should be mercenaries.

David Fryer wrote:

Hmm maybe.

Thinking about changing the Wookiee to a Cathar.
Either just a straight swap to cathar fulfilling an equivalent Chewbacca role as hired muscle or one of those short hair stealthy subspecies. Black. Puma-like. Nasty. This one would be a scoundrel or a scout.

I'm gonna start to stat up my Miraluka Jensaarai Defender so she's ready to go, just in case.

I know that the RPGA Campaign Standards for Dawn of Defiance gives a 28 point buy for starting characters. I'm gonna start with 28 pts and scale back if I need to.

Liberty's Edge

Ok here are some down and dirty to start 28 pt buy and I would prefer just the core book. I am willing to let other races and concepts in but I reserve the right that if the wreck the game that we will require a change. I am ok with six players and with multiple soldiers in the group. I do caution that because of the era that this is in that non-human characters will experience some discrimination at times. I would suggest that some one play a Nobel/ face man because there are some very good role play moments in this AP. I also ask that you please not read the adventures before we run them, I feel that it is important to have the mystery for the full experience. I do like feedback so if you are not likening the way the game is going; I want you to speak up. I am more than willing to make changes to my style of play/GM to make this an enjoyable time for all of us. I will run this game with out awarding XP but will just advise at story points to level up. I will not require dice rolls to be made on invisible castle, I will trust all of you. Every one will have an extra 500 credits to spend at character creation if they post a detailed back story that will connect you to the place and point in time at the start of the saga. I do not have that P/P at this time and will have that on Friday of this week. My projected start date is October 13 is when I will be starting hard. I have GMed a few PBP games in the past but this is my first Saga game that I have done PBP, so I hope all of you have a great time I know I will. PS bad spelling in posts will not hurt your role playing

Noted. As such, I have already made two character concepts for just such an occurence. The Cathar race is in the Knights of the Old Republic Sourcebook. I shall make sure it is readily available. I am leaning towards the Cathar, but I will deferr to your final decision.

Both are quite rough and the text at the moment are more memory keys for me to flesh out later.

They are
Thunn
Kal Tyrgen

I am gunning for these extra credits, but I do not know when in the timeline or where in the galaxy DoD starts.

I am really thinking fallen Jedi. someone who walked away from the order well before it fell. Some one broken by the clonewars he sees the galaxy as a fallen dark place befitting that he helped make it.

A hard drinker who does not speak of his past. He makes his way as a pilot doing what he can to earn a few creds . He dislikes the empire but in may ways sees it as the twisted remnants of the republic made from war.

If this would be OK I would like to play such a charcter

Rise of the Empire Era, shortly after the events of Revenge of the Sith (Episode III)

here is what I have so far. Will get some background together and finish his stats

Amended for the 28pts and the background story, hope its sufficient.
