Bacon and Cheese Appetizer Bites

Ingredients:
• Crisco® Original No-Stick Cooking Spray
• 1/2 cup sour cream
• 1 tablespoon water
• 1 cup Hungry Jack® Buttermilk Complete Pancake & Waffle Mix (Just Add Water)
• 1/2 cup (2 oz.) shredded Cheddar cheese
• 1/4 cup bacon, cooked and crumbled
• 2 tablespoons butter, melted
• Paprika

Preparation Directions:
1. HEAT oven to 400°F. Spray cookie sheet with no-stick cooking spray.
2. MIX sour cream and water in medium bowl until well combined. Add pancake mix, cheese and bacon pieces. Stir just until dry ingredients are moistened. Drop by rounded teaspoons onto prepared cookie sheet.
3. BAKE 10 to 12 minutes or until lightly browned. Brush with melted butter; sprinkle with paprika. Serve warm.

Yield: 24 appetizers
Prep Time: 5 min
Cook Time: 10 min

Asian Steamed Pork Buns

Ingredients:
• 8 ounces ground pork
• 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
• 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
• 1 3/4 cups Hungry Jack® Original Pancake & Waffle Mix (Add Milk, Oil & Eggs)
• 5 tablespoons warm water
• 1 tablespoon Crisco® All-Vegetable Shortening
• 1/4 cup scallions, green part only, chopped
• Toasted sesame oil (optional)
• Toasted sesame seeds (optional)
• Cabbage leaves

Preparation Directions:
1. BROWN pork in medium skillet over medium heat. Stir in hoisin sauce and oyster sauce. Remove from heat to cool. Heat water in steamer to boiling.
2. COMBINE pancake mix, water, shortening and scallions to form a dough. Form 8 small balls, adding pancake mix or flour as needed if too sticky. Flatten into 4-inch rounds. Place 1 1/2 tablespoons cooled pork filling in center of round. Bring edges to center to cover filling. Pinch edge together to seal. Brush tops with sesame oil. Sprinkle with sesame seeds.
3. PLACE cabbage leaves on bottom of steamer basket. Place buns, sealed side down, on top of leaves. Leave space between buns as they will expand during cooking. Cover. Steam 15 minutes. Serve immediately.
TIP Cook in batches if necessary. Keep cooked buns in 200°F. oven on a covered oven-proof platter until all are done.

Yield: 8 appetizers
Prep Time: 40 min
Cook Time: 15 min

Beef Stew with Herbed Potato Dumplings

Ingredients:
STEW
• 7 tablespoons Pillsbury BEST® All Purpose Flour, divided
• 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
• 1 1/2 pounds beef stew meat, cut into 1-inch cubes
• 2 tablespoons Crisco® Pure Vegetable Oil
• 2 (14 oz.) cans reduced sodium beef broth, divided
• 1 teaspoon minced garlic
• 1 bay leaf
• 1 (16 oz.) package frozen vegetables for stew

DUMPLINGS
• 2 large eggs
• 1/2 cup water
• 1 cup Hungry Jack® Instant Mashed Potato Flakes
• 1/2 cup Hungry Jack® Buttermilk Complete Pancake & Waffle Mix (Just Add Water)
• 1 tablespoon minced green onion
• 1 tablespoon minced fresh parsley
• 1/4 teaspoon garlic salt

Preparation Directions:
1. COMBINE 3 tablespoons flour and seasoned salt in large resealable plastic bag. Add beef cubes. Seal and toss to coat.
2. HEAT oil in 6-quart Dutch oven on medium-high heat. Add beef cubes and cook until well browned on all sides. Add 2 1/2 cups beef broth, garlic and bay leaf. Bring to a boil over high heat. Cover; reduce heat to low and simmer 1 hour.
3. STIR in frozen vegetables. Bring to a boil over high heat. Cover; reduce heat and simmer 20 minutes. Remove bay leaf. Whisk together remaining beef broth and remaining flour in small bowl. Add to stew, stirring until gravy thickens.
4. To prepare dumpling batter: WHISK eggs and water in medium bowl. Stir in potato flakes until moistened. Add pancake mix, green onion, parsley and garlic salt; mix well.
5. DROP batter by tablespoonfuls onto simmering stew. Cover and simmer over low heat 13 to 16 minutes or until dumplings are cooked through.

Yield: 8 servings
Prep Time: 30 min
Cook Time: 2 hrs
