BOOM!

I already put up the new initiative order..as for the knowledge checks nobody except Naria came close and she really used the wrong skill hence the vauge info she got.

Did Esteriande's detect evil show up evil?

Romon! Do you owe this thing money?

If I do it's not because I borrowed it.

Oh yes definitely Evil..almost overwhelmingly so..

OK Folks I'm going away to Games Expo UK tonight and won't be back until Monday Evening my time. Playing 4 PFS games over the three days (and some Paranoia) so I won't be without my Pathfinder fix

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

But what about our Pathfinder fix?!:
Have a great time , Wellard!

Paranoia! I am very jealous. Never got to play that game. It looks fantastic.

Have fun and remember: Stay Alert! Trust No One! Keep your Laser Ready!

Paranoia rocks.

It's also best to play with people you will never see again (and who do not know where you live), so playing it a convention is ideal. :>

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

I've never played, but lurked on a couple games on the boards here. Good times.

This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7

I've played it a few times...it's fun, but it gets old quickly.

Well it's a game that is more suited to one shots than ongoing campaigns. I like to play it every couple of years to keep my hand in.The rule books however are a joy to read.

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Of course Romon knows nothing, but he imagines quite a bit.

Muchorak didn't say that he was taking Ursas into the cave(bears are not that stealthy) so I'm assuming he is left to guard the horses..

Best deadpan Marak's not that stealthy either, but we let him into the cave.

This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7

You have a good point. But then who wants to argue with a shoanti with big swords?

Liberty's Edge

Honestly I figured on leaving he bear out and assumed our rogue would've accompanied me in. :D

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Waiting on Wellard and Dabbler. They've both been slow posting lately in all the threads I'm playing with them. I hope RL is treating them well, but fear that it is not.

They thought the police would never catch up to them.

This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7

I've been kind of busy, but have posted my actions already anyway. I think Wellard's been a bit busy.

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

I'm going with Bill's theory.

Sorry guys a little too much on my plate just now..
Things should improve soon

I just found out that I will be out of state and away from net access from Tuesday until about Friday or Saturday. Please DMPC Inikai as needed.

M Brownin (Half Pale Skin/Half Dark Skin) Healer 8/Merchant 3

Hey y'all, my week of camping turned into a 2.5 week Amazing affair, so had little to no online access that whole time. Right now I'm off to a big birthday party in the park. Summer's always a busy, but Great, time. I should have some time tomorrow afternoon to catch up though. So, sorry for my absence and thanks for all remaining awesome!

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Bill, Set, Kevin,

thanks for the climbing vignette. I was picturing a sort of Three Stooges affair until Naria whisks them upward -- just in time for a metagorical pie in the face.

I'll be on vacation, and possibly internet-less, between Wednesday morning and Sunday evening. Feel free to DMPC Marak if I lag behind!

Frankly I have no idea why they threw in that encounter it's a speed bump for any competent 9th level party.

At a table I like encounters like that once in a while to remind the party they've become powerful. They should be able to steamroll a pack of ogres.

Play by post maybe less so because combat takes so long.

This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7

What Thom said. I can remember a DM glossing over the easy encounters, and it really sucked some of the fun out of the game. Different encounters play to different strengths, and if you start cutting them some characters will start to feel unable to contribute effectively.

'Mook' encounters are a staple of superhero games. A chance to show off and 'be super' before the hard fights with other supers or giant monsters or alien saucer invasions or whatever. But the vast majority of super-heroes are like 3.5 Warlocks, with the exact same level of power in the seventh round of the twelth combat of the day as they had on round one of fight one. You can't really 'wear down' or 'rope a dope' someone who can shoot a 10d6 force blast out of his eyes every single round for fourteen consecutive hours.

For D&D/PF, all these sorts of encounters seem to do is burn off X percentage of party resources, so that they aren't as able to blow their entire wad in a later encounter. The 'resource management' aspect of d20, where you might only be able to use X amount of healing or spells or buffs or potions in a day, leads to this sort of thing, which may not seem as gripping as every single fight being a total nail-biter, but is kind of the nature of the system that we inherited from Vance and his spell memorization concept.

This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7

Plus it's still fun to have a fight you win easily.

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Khaladon, you magnificent smartass!

I'm glad that post wasn't pointed at me.

I'll still rise to Wellard's defense. In PbP, it's easier to miss things than at a real table, at least for me. Sometimes you read right over things. Sometimes you read the posts, but don't have time to respond immediately and by the time you do, you've forgotten something. In real life you respond right away, and if you didn't hear someone they usually repeat the request right away.

M Brownin (Half Pale Skin/Half Dark Skin) Healer 8/Merchant 3

Which I did...

But I figure if the Third time's not the charm, then, MEH.

(Oh, and Thanks ; )

I did indeed miss the post about checking on the horses..but seriously did it really require an answer? It is less than 5 minutes game time since you left them.

M Brownin (Half Pale Skin/Half Dark Skin) Healer 8/Merchant 3

Missed Both of them, and I guess because it seems to happen to Ali a lot, especially when she is using her nose or her wings, that's it's made me a bit sensitive to it. My apologies.

You do have a good point about the small passage of time. Guess that's hard to keep track of sometimes in PbP, where it's been Weeks since we left 'em.

So, moving on and assuming they're fine, DireAliWolf is prowling around the damn with the others, nose out for trouble.

He's got pointed ears, like Spock. // AC 17, FF 14, T 15 // HP 68/73 // F,R,W 7,11,4 // Percept 14 + // Init +4

Out of town til Tuesday in the ole USA. DMPC me as needed.

Btw folks I checked and tomorrow the 6th marks 5 years since I took over the running of this game..I'm proud to say that we still have three of the original characters with us.

In Contrast my Serpents Skull game has only one of the original characters left and it's two years less in the playing.

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Hooray for us!

Thanks for running the game, Wellard! And thank you to all the players. I wouldn't keep coming back if you weren't all so awesome.

M Brownin (Half Pale Skin/Half Dark Skin) Healer 8/Merchant 3

Holy crap! FIVE years?? And that means I've been running Ali in this game even longer than that!

Hmmm, I wonder if it's any kind of PbP record?

But yes, an amazing accomplishment by all. Thank you so much Wellard, and all my fellow players who have made this game so great. Cheers to five more years!

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Not a record -- unless Aubrey's games have folded.

M Brownin (Half Pale Skin/Half Dark Skin) Healer 8/Merchant 3

which ones are those?

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

http://paizo.com/campaigns/AubreysEberronCampaign/gameplay

http://paizo.com/campaigns/AubreysRiseOfTheRunelordsCampaign/gameplay

The oldest games I know that are still going. Good stuff, especially his homebrew Eberron.

I'll admit to having drawn inspiration from Aubrey in this game..but yes this is one of the five longest running games on the forums I think.

Aubrey's two games, Thom's Crimson Throne and Patrick Curtin's Chronicles of the Silver Rose are the only games that have been going longer I think

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Aubrey has great style. And the man is prolific. I think he was running four games at one point, may still be.

Wellard, were you running four at one point? I have to confess I was overloaded with three.

Thankfully I have never run more than 3 at any one time..my Dungeon crawling campaign that Dabbler was in collapsed because the other players having signed up for an old school dungeon crawl style campaign (using Goodman Games and Judges Guild in fusion)complained that they were in an old school dungeon crawl style campaign..I may yet resurrect that one some day.

I am however playing in 6 campaigns and playing 6 distinctly different characters.

I just saw the new posts here and am impressed with the staying power of this group. Thanks again to all involved. Now lets go kill something!

Also you get Racial hit points Ali gets 4 ,Muchorak and Inakai get 6 each

Guys, I screwed up Romon's HP. (And forgot to update them in his status line.

So this morning -- I thought he had 75 (buried in the text of his profile) -- the status line said 58.

When Wellard dropped him I started looking. I was double counting Con bonus. And forgetting the racial HP.

I'm an engineer by profession, so you can understand why bridges fall down. Can someone double check me?

Here's what I've got -- can someone check the math.

Rogue 8 / Ftr 1 ==> 8 (first level) + 7*6 (42, Other rogue levels) + 7 (fighter level) + 9 Con = 66 + 6 racial = 72

or did we bag the racial hit points later? I only ask because usually I write sources of HP down and racial wasn't listed in Romon's profile. If we're using racial HP is the half elf number 6?
