DM Wellard --- DMW is WMD backwards. A coincidence?

................I don't think so.

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Wellard, Just a heads up. I've switched Romon's 7th level feat to Combat Expertise. I'll be trying to pick up Improved Feint soon. That looks more attractive than sending him down 2WF path at this late date, though I may try it after attaining feint. And despite the nifty new armor he might need some extra AC at times. Felt OK making the switch because we haven't fought since leveling. I'll put it back if you object.

I think someone is being influenced by a couple of rogues from Korvosa..grins..no problem with that.

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Yeah -- sincere flattery and all that.

What can I say? (buffs nails)

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Although Wellard has us on a slow track so we don't start the combat beofre the holidays, I'll still make this announcement

Work, holidays and prepping visits by the in-laws is leaving me rather busy IRL. Posting may be slow or non-existant for a couple weeks. DMPC Romon as needed.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all.

Liberty's Edge

Well then i'll make this post since we have an abundance of time for shopping...

I'm saving up funds on both sides (Mucho and Wolfspirt) for their next items.

For Mucho i'm aiming for a better weapon and for Wolfspirit...

Belt of Physical Might +4 (Str/Con). I know this will mean removal of the healing belt currently equipped but it will free up the glove slot being used for a single Str buff. :D

This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7

Esteriande is trying to save as much as she can for a weapon upgrade, hopefully after the tower it may be affordable.

Hey that's a great idea Azoun! Thanks! Ali will be very pleased with that I am sure.

Oh and Merry Holidays to you all!

Am I correct in recalling that someone here is good at figuring out prices for created magic items?

This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7

I can do that, yes, as I had a very crafting oriented character once ...

Thought it was you dabbs. Would you mind if I emailed you something? You're not judging anything in the RPG superstar contest is ya?

Thanks Dabbs, sending now...

Well I'll admit I didn't use Ms TPK in that encounter (I'm saving her for later on) and gave you lot a lot of advantages. That 2nd round by itself would have staggered the Lamia

And after all the hints you were dropping about TPK, I was worried we'd anti-climaxed you there.

Stop snickering, Set.

Well Muchorak unleashed the Death of a Thousand Cuts, which with Esteriande's Smite Evil did a LOT of damage - and that was actually on some fairly crappy rolls from me at least. Still trying to woek out her AC, around 25? If so Esteriande's first blow should have connected as well, but it's an academic point.

As for TPKs, remember we still have to get down ...

Something tells me that Wellard is just waiting to spring something big and mean on us to knock us out a sense of complaisance.

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Could be. I won't boast OOC 'cause he could smack us hard, but Romon, well he knows the A team when he sees it.

This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7

I think Ms TPK might have lasted three rounds - with haste and flanking, I was expecting Esteriande to kick out 40-60 damage per round on a reasonably hard target on her own. Once we closed, it didn't matter what she dished back. She may have been able to get away and throw spells, but then we had spell-throwers too ...

With what amounted to Surprise and the Lamia unable to buff herself well enough then the result was a foregone conclusion..but you planned well and good planning deserves reward.

I'll point out also that you have lots of evidence on IronBriar.

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Avast there mateys, we've got the headboard of a bed that we can use for a plank and a long drop. Paladins and little werewolves spoil all the fun. :-)

As far as channeling a certain cleric of Pharasma, Marak brought her up. Romon would have ascribed the patronage of any deity Marak mentioned to our run of success.

Still glad snake-lady didn't have web you know what Wellard can do with one of those.

This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7

There is a reason I like dexterous characters who have decent reflex saves ... :)

Can I help it if Battle field control wins fights..incidentally Andrea just picked up Web and Hold Person in the Carrion Crown Game she is in...grins

This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7

It's an excellent tactic, and the best one spell-casters can follow, if they can. For melee characters, it's all about damage. That said I am considering how Combat Patrol and Combat Reflexes combine with some combat manoeuvres. With Esteriande it will be damage all the way, though. With a paladin there's no other way to do it!

Dark Archive

Some dude

You mean some spellcasters have tactics?

I'm still impressed with how Naria killed the hell out of some peeps with a grease spell.

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Naria's grease was pretty slick.

Squad of select Hellknights? Romon was thinking there might be opportunities for income enhancement and Ironbriar isn't going to need any of his stuff. Unfortunately Randi is unlikely to go for it. Nope. Got it.

Oh don't worry, it might fall our way anyway, and there are the possibilities of reward from the Mayor. I need another enhancement to Esteriande's sword, and we don't have the funds for that yet. Plus we should be close to levelling again soon, or by the time we are into the next chapter anyway.

Oh don't worry I know when you get the next level but the rewards will be good for your actions here.

This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7

Yum yum! And very generous it was too!

I already costed out my planned upgrades:

Elven curve-blade from +1 to +1 keen - 6Kgp
Circlet of Charisma +2 - 2Kgp if Marak is willing to make me one
If the weapons reach enough additional cash:
Mithral armour from +1 to +2 - 3Kgp

Dabbler wrote:

If we have a week or two off (at least 1 day / 1000 gp, I think), Marak will be happy to craft any Wondrous Item that he can either prep the spell for, or someone else can provide the spell (or scroll) for.

I'd love to get some use out of the feat.

Did we get to keep Ironbriar's mithral shirt as well?

This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7

Hopefully! Let the GM decide.

To the victor the spoils..The Mayor is feeling generous.

The Lamia's scimitars are only +1 weapons

Ironbriar has a +1 keen Warrazor

This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7

I make that (sold at 50%):

Scimitars: 2 x 1000gp
Warrazor: 1 x 4000gp

for another 6,000gp, or 1000gp each. So we netted 10,000gp each out of this job. Sweet! Do we get any discounts on gear? :p

Set, Dabbler

How much would a wonderous item that can cast the equivalent of Shield Other several times per day at 8th level cost? I think it should be about 16,000 gp. but am not sure.

This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7

That would be either a use-activated item, by the sound of things (caster level x spell level x 2000gp) or a command word activated item (caster level x spell level x 1800gp). Three uses per day would be 3/5 of the price. It's a 2nd level spell, so it would normally be applied at 3rd level. I can see why you'd want 8th level which would make it almost permanent BUT if it's use-activated, the use can be continuous - and as it is a duration measured in hours, there is no additional expense for it being always on and it can be applied at 3rd level.

So we can do it two ways:
1) continuous use (the effect is always on):
That gives us: 3x2x2000x1 = 12,000gp cost.
You could have these as a protector/protected pair, or a pair that allow you to protect one another. As the item gives shield other it will give the other bonuses of shield other (+1 deflection bonus to AC, +1 resistance bonus on saves).

I would recommend going for this option, it's cheaper and I can see scope for one other feature: You could enhance the deflection bonus at a rate of (bonus squared x 2000)gp, and/or the resistance bonus to saves (bonus squared x 1000)gp. The cost of the less expensive feature of two would be reduced by 25%, and of the cheapest feature 50%. Hence if you wanted it to have a +2 deflection bonus and a +2 resistance bonus, the cost would be:

12,000gp (original cost)
+ {8,000gp (+2 deflection bonus) x 75%} = 6,000gp
+ {4,000gp (+2 resistance bonus) x 50%} = 2,000gp
= 20,000gp.

I think you can get away with these all being 'similar abilities' because shield other grants a deflection bonuses and a resistance bonus.

Now the continuous item could take the form of a pair of amulets, bangles, whatevers (but it has to take up a body-slot, it's double the cost if it doesn't, and it has to be something you can make with Craft Wondrous Item), and as long as both are worn the effect is always on. However, to get the bonuses for AC and saves for BOTH wearers I think you would have to double the cost (shield other normally only grants the bonus to one person after all), and maybe the two wearers could shield one another. Wellard may be willing to rule that an amulet on one person can be matched with a non-body slot item on the shielding person (such as a armlet), I think that is workable and fair.

2) uses per day (use for 8 hours effect each time): As above, but if you go for an item activated by command word, at 8th level and three uses per day it would be:
8x2x1800x3/5 = 17280gp cost.

The command word item could be something you touch to somebody, rather than a paired set of items. On the other hand it has none of the other advantages, such as enhancing the deflection or resistance bonus.

Muchas gracias, Dabbler.

I picked Shield Other because it is the closest spell to one power that a vestige grants Inikai. The power is an involuntary link to share HP damage but there is no deflection component. This should drop the cost to 12,000 gp. if bought on the market or 6000gp. if is crafted.

You still have your discount at the Bazzar of Sails

Does that extend to getting stuff crafted or improved? IE weapons and armour?
