Wellard,

some potential purchases for Romon:

3220 gold less 100 gp in expenses. + 180 gp in gold and gems previously held.

Possible buys:
ring of protection +1 -- 2k,
+1 to armour -- 1k,
spell storing dagger 2304 gp,
wand of CLW 750 gp,
dust of tracelessness 250gp,
cloak of eleven kind 2500 gp,
cloak of resistance+1 1000 gp ,

Are any of these right out? Would any require waiting for a custom order?

Cheliax

Just a heads up from the 2nd of October till the 9th I will be away on holiday and I'm not sure if I will have internet access or not so if I go quiet that's why (also feel free to DMPC me)

Expert 3/Slacker 4/Layabout 2

Have fun, Kevin.

Expert 3/Slacker 4/Layabout 2

Merry Christmas, everyone!

needed to bump this out of archive limbo

As some of you may have seen(Khaladon knows anyway) I had to close my homebrew thread on the boards as it had become a chore . This leaves Dabbler with a spare character and if you guys don't think that 7 players would be too unbalancing I'd like to invite Eltariel Ellesand to the party after you are done with the Misgivings.

She's a Druid 3/Wizard(generalist)3 going for Arcane Heirophant.More importantly she's a crafter

This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7

Thanks for the invite, Wellard!

I don't think Eltariel can offer this party much, though - you already have a full druid and a full arcane caster, so she'd be a 5th wheel other than the crafting. Looking at the party, I have come up with a character you will I hope find interesting and different ... and will add something to the party dynamic as well. I will say no more at this point ...

The more the merrier. I am looking forward to seeing what you come up with, Dabbler.

Osirion

Some dude

Dabbler's always cool with me.

Marak is kinda/sorta a crafter (Craft Wondrous Item, since there's crap all for decent Cleric feats), but we haven't really done anything with it...

I'm cool with Eltariel or some other character. (Ali's a druid, yes, but she doesn't run around casting druid spells all that much, being more of a shapeshifting focused character.)

Expert 3/Slacker 4/Layabout 2

Delighted to have Dabbler aboard, as Eltariel or otherwise.

This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7

Thanks guys. Eltariel was a great character for the game she was in, where the other casters were a duskblade and a bard (initially). Also, she's 6th level which would mean waiting until you guys levelled. So, I'll try the other character now, if people like them then we can take it from there, if not I can always swap them out for Eltariel.

I told you Daphne would be along shortly...and she wears purple too

This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7

(laughs) Yes indeed, I'm reading the adventure with interest, and where better to find Daphne than in a haunted house. Queue me in whenever you want me!

This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7

Wow ... you guys don't hang about do you? I think you post faster than any on-line game I have yet been in ...

Andoran

*taps the side of his head*
check this more often, check this more often, check this more often, check this more often

How 'bout that superstar?!
Damn, if that didn't send out oddness...

So then we are gaining two new members?

This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7

No, there's just one of me (I counted). Wellard invited me into this game after another one of his kind of faded away. We thought about using my character from that game, but I am not so sure she would be a valuable addition to the party, so I suggested a character I thought you could use. We've agreed to give her a try ... if you guys decide you'd rather have a druid/wizard crafter then that's cool with me, but it seemed to me that you needed a melee hitter more than you needed another caster.

Andoran

Let's see a melee hitter better than my Muchorak!? Hell yes, expecially if you can wear heavy armor!

Azoun The Sage wrote:

Sadly not, she's dex based (I have this thing for dex-based fighters) but against single targets should deal out serious hurt. AC should be decent all the same, with the archetype Wellard and I came up with.

Expert 3/Slacker 4/Layabout 2

Muchorak is death on wheels. Ali's not bad too. Romon spends a fair number of combat rounds just watching in awe.

Andoran

Two-weapon fighting is one of my favorite things of the ranger, besides it's versatility with it's skill set. :D

This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7

It's very effective in Pathfinder, I agree - against his favoured enemy Musharak is death on two legs. I had to crunch some numbers once, though, and nothing beats the paladin while smiting, it makes them perfect for hammering BBEGs down to size, as long as they are evil (which 9/10 of them are). Once you factor in critical hits, the elven curve-blade out-damages the greatsword, making it an excellent weapon, and going for dexterity enables me to be a passing good archer into the bargain.

Andoran

I completely agree Dabbler, definitly a paladin with a high Charisma as well helps that smite! In a table top i'm running there is one guy playing a Paladin and when he smites it's insane.

Thing is guys from a purely metagaming POV you are going to be coming up against some stuff where an extra sword arm with full BaB will be mighty useful.

Andoran

Well at least that means good XP too right?! :D

O and of course good loot. :D

This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7

I'll hold out for the loot - I will need stat-boosters ... hope Marak enjoys crafting because he will be doing a lot ...

Ah oops! HAd been so long since an OOC post it had fallen off my list of threads to check.

Welcome aboard Dabbler! Always a pleasure to be in a game with you (won't count how many this is now ; ) and Esteriande seems a very interesting PC as well. I'm sure she and Ali will get along just fine

I am picturing the amazon daughter of Maria Gambrelli and Inspector Clouseau.

Andoran

Holy S*&t! I just discovered the Dice roller in the BBC from another thread!

Yep i'm apparently that far behind the times!

Also just wanted to refresh this thread on my recent posts.

:D

JUST KEEPING THE THREAD ALIVE

First impressions are fun!

So far Esteriande is positive about Ali and Romon, and is able to make exceptions for Marak and Naria (she assumes they didn't mean to be rude by not introducing themselves, they are just absent-minded). Inikai and Muchorak she has reservations over, though - not only have they failed to introduce themselves (I'm thinking this is very unusual in shoanti culture where it's important people know who kicked their ass), they keep talking behind her back in a language they think she doesn't know (well, she doesn't, but that's not the point). While Muchorak's name was mentioned, it wasn't made clear who he was, or even that he was one you.

On the flip side, I'm sure the party view her with apprehension: her willingness to be the 'point man' must seem reckless to them, and her strange speech and the circumstances of their meeting must seem suspicious to say the least. Meh, paladin's principals' are meant to be a pain ... ;)

Actually In Naria's case it was intentional. Learning there is yet someone else who has an interest in the surrounding ruins and appears to know more about them than she does has made her somewhat suspicious and envious.

First of all, Esteriande looks to be a lot of fun to adventure with. I think she will go a long way toward forcing the action with her lack of caution. In regard to Inikai not introducing himself, it is more a precautionary measure. Esteriande's arrival seems to perfect to him and only Ali's confidence in her kept him from wanting her to remain restrained.

Kevin, I think you are correct that the undead would lead us to Aldern but I think Inikai would be to concerned for the others who are in its path.

Andoran

Muchorak goes right along with Inikai on the bound status. If it wasn't for Ali she'd still be tied up, though gagged now. :D

Muchoraks silence is meant in that he doesn't trust her, he doesn't believe she is really friendly. After all she speaks like a foreigner and those same kind of people took the land at bloodshed from his people.

Perhaps his lack of common tongue usage is a ploy, one to force her to show the demon he believes all civilized folk to be! And of course show his companions.

As a Ranger...well her brashness of charging head first just rings stupid to him. It's careless in his eyes and careless may lead to bravery and grand stories but it more often leads to ones demise, a sad and lonely death and in the worst case, the death of your companions. Which is another reason for his caution. He would not have his companions face such a dire price as he sees it.

This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7

Well there's a fine line between reckless and bold, and Esteriande does not care if the party are suspicious of her - as long as they do not impede her. Or do anything stupid, like attacking before they have determined the right course of action ... (sigh)

Expert 3/Slacker 4/Layabout 2

Romon, with the discernment of a 17 year old boy is on Randy's side.

This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7

Well I've heard of young men liking older women ... not sure if he realises just how much older she is though ...

Wellard, I will be away tomorrow. Please DMPC as needed.

Hey! I'm thinking Ali's getting the new girl out of the ropes should at least merit a head nuzzle. Maybe a doggie biscuit?

Ah, but it was Marak who untied her, although Ali was the first to introduce herself. Have no fear, Esteriande thinks highly of her, but right now there is business to take care of ...

Well, ho could forget Romon? He certainly doesn't think anyone could.

This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7

At last I get to SMITE!

Andoran

Dude that AC is insane!

So i've noticed a trend with the dice roller for Muchorak...don't think i'll ever make a will save! lol.

This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7

Well it is conditional - +2 is from a spell that only effects undead, and another +2 is from the smite evil, and another +2 from Combat Expertise. I'm just fortunate it all stacks up. Also, boosting AC up is a very good idea for a front liner with a Con of 10 ...

Up against a single foe is where a paladin shines, as well, which doesn't hurt. Against multiple foes, less effective I'm afraid. I think you will find Muchorak can out-do her against his favoured enemies, though.

Andoran

True as long as:

1. I don't have to make a will save. :D

2. They aren't the undead versions. :D

I do love how paladins are like the anti-undead/demons type! I've always liked that aspect of them.

And me! And they kick evil dragon-butt too! Against normal every-day stuff, paladins are 2nd-rate fighters, but against skin-crawling supernatural evil, they rock.

What I like about Esteriande is that she's clever as well as brave (slightly over-confident though!); she does actually think about tactics and strategy which I hope will show more as she starts to understand what the other members of the party can do. She might come across as bossy, for which I apologise in advance, and she will not compromise her values (well she is a paladin). On occasion this should drive the rest of the party insane with frustration.
