No worries. I'm not in a big rush. I just started running a 5th pbp, so I've got plenty to keep me busy.

Nice! It may take a few days, but soon I'll post up an exact reason for you to meet up with the other PCs once they're a little closer. At the current rate of advancement, I can see it being a week to a week and a half until you can actually join in, but I hope to post recent background for you well before then.

Female Half-Elf Rogue 3/ Urban Ranger 2

Iziak, in case it factors into the progression of the story, I guess without a spellcaster, my next rogue talent will be minor magic (either Read Magic or Detect Magic), and I'll be boosting UMD each level, so eventually we'll have at least a bit of arcane punch.

Go right ahead. Don't feel like you have to take UMD and Minor Magic, though... as I said I'll balance the adventures to the characters.

Goburn, what combat style did you choose when you leveled up?

Spoiler:
I'm assuming as somone living in the city, Liandra's got at least a small apartment somewhere. Feel free to describe it however you see fit for her means and lifestyle.

[b}LIANDRA[/b]

Spoiler:
Your guess is correct. Is there any specific location that you'd like to have your apartment/home located at?

Also, you don't need to worry about rent and upkeep costs... it would be such a small amount in comparison to all of the treasure you get that it wouldn't amount to much of anything.

Spoiler:

I figure maybe old Korvosa, maybe on Wave St. Only things she would definitely have are a comfortable bed and a big copper bathtub. Anything else have fun with.

LIANDRA

Spoiler:
I'll see what I can come up with... even if you don't go to your house during the course of the campaign, I'll post the description that I come up with here so that you can use if for roleplaying.

If you all think that it's a good idea, I'm planning to start having Knowledge check results posted in this thread when I think that they're appropriate, so that players who know a lot about the Pathfinder Chronicles Campaign Setting can more easily separate player knowledge from character knowledge and so that players new to the world can gain important information.

I'll put all information from lower DCs into the higher DCs, so you'll only need to look at the highest DC that you meet to see all of the information.

Note that I don't have the "Trained Only" rule on Knowledge checks... any character, trained or not, can learn information of DCs higher than 10. If any of you have suggestions on how I could better format or implement this, please let me know.

Common Knowledge

Spoiler:
The Korvosan Guard serves the city of Korvosa first, the city's leader second, and the church of Abadar (God of Cities, Wealth, Merchants, and Law) third. It works closely with the monarch and the high priest of Abadar to maintain order in the city, acting most often as a police force, but turning into a military operation whenever the city is threatened by external forces. Field Marshal Cressida Kroft leads the nearly 700 soldiers of the Korvosan Guard, almost all of whom are human of Chelaxian descent.

The Hellknight Order of the Nail is an autonomous legion of law-bringers seeking to enforce its own harsh vision of order upon Varisia, meting out law with blade and iron-shod boot. Unconcerned with petty trivialities of morality, Hellknights are fanatics of law, adhering only to their harsh, Chelish vision of order and their own unyielding vision of honor. To this end-as is common among Hellknight orders-the black-robed signifiers of the nail often call upon the aid of extraplanar embodiments of law, particularly the fierce, cold will of Hell's legions that best embodies their philosophy. The Hellknights do not have to follow the commands of Korvosa's monarch, but they don't tend come into conflict with the nobility and the Korvosan Guard and often assist them as long as doing so doesn't conflict with the Hellknight's strange code. The order is currently commanded by Lictor Severs "Boneclaw" DiVri, with Mistress of Blades Maidrayne Vox presiding over its martial forces. Hellknight image.

Finally, the Sable Company is made up of hippogriff-mounted marines. First by tradition, and later by an addendum to the city's charter, the Sable Company does not answer to the leader of Korvosa, regardless of the leader's title. Instead, the commandment of the Sable Company reports directly to the Seneshcal of Castle Korvosa who, as also decreed by charter amendment, cannot have less than three generations of seperation between common ancestors with the city's leader. With each new leader, the commandmant pledges the company's loyalty-usually within a few days, but in the past this has taken up to a year and, once, it did not happen at all. Commandment Marcus Thalassinus Endrin leads his hippogriff-mounted marines in defense of the skies and waters of Korvosa.

It looks like it might be a good time to work Vex in. She could be out on the streets, maybe going to try to check up on her mother, who probably would live in Old Korvosa.

PHD

Spoiler:
That sounds good... in that case your ties to the Korvosan guard aren't nescessary if you'd like to change your backstory. The planned tie-in that I had had needed that background, but now that you mention it I can do something like your idea easily enough. I'll just need a few more days to find a good point and you can join in.

PHD

Spoiler:
How would your character react if she saw an otyugh rampaging through the city, and heading directly towards her?

male human

Spoiler:
She does love battle, but she's not stupid. Fighting humanoids is one thing, but tentacled monsters is much different, and she doesn't feel the same sort shame about retreating from such foes.

If the Otyug was threatening innocent civilians she might try to find away to help them. If it was just destroying property and rampaging down the street, she'd probably run and try to get some allies together to help her fight it or try to get in a position where she could fight it without risking herself too much. She wouldn't just charge the thing and try to take in single combat, unless she was thought it would save small children or something similar to that.

VEX

Spoiler:
That's pretty much what I thought, I just wanted to make sure before that that's what you'd do. Oh, and you are now being chased down the street by an otyugh, just in front of the Bank of Abadar, along with a swarm of other people.

Vex, I hope that that character intro was okay... I know that it was kind of clunky, but I'm not sure if the other characters were going to get to the point where I was planning to introduce you (because of something they did), and I didn't want you to be waiting too long.

If you haven't seen it yet, the Prestige Class web enhancement for the Beta Playtest is now available here.

Female Dwarf Cleric of Torag

Hi Iziak,

I am going camping thurs-sunday of this week. Can you take over Algret until I get back? I also just realized that her money did not "save" for what ever reason and that I forgot to level up in skill ranks. I will update skills before I leave and re-calc cash when I get back

Sure thing Algret, thanks for the heads-up.

Algret? Goburn? Are you still around?

Female Half-Elf Rogue 3/ Urban Ranger 2

Looks like we've lost a few folks.

Indeed... Algret should be back by now, and Goburn just hasn't posted a whole lot in general. I guess I'll just take over their characters for a while... as long as there are three players I think that the game can continue pretty well.

Goburn's back.

Female Half-Elf Rogue 3/ Urban Ranger 2

So based on Go to this Corvin is definitely gone.

Liandra Nightwind wrote:

Yep; it seems like he's dissapeared from time to time. I plan to remove Corvin from the primary party (so he's backup if his player comes back) soon, but there hasn't been a good opening yet.

Hi Everyone,

Sorry for the disappearing act. I went camping and came home to massive problems (budget yanked on a conference I was hosting on nov 8th, my job being eliminated in a re-org, applying for new job in the re-org, lending agency for my student loan closing, hot water heater flooding my basement, blah, blah, blah...). Long story short: I apparently need to re-focus for a bit.

I thank you for the opportunity to play and apologize if i am leaving you in a lurch.

Skazz, Li and Izaik: you are brilliant gamers

Thanks

Mark

PS: Feel free to use Algret if you need to. She has the potential to be an excellent healer for the group.

Female Half-Elf Rogue 3/ Urban Ranger 2

Wow, sorry to hear about your plunge into chaos. Unfortunately at some point reality bites us all in the ass. Good luck. Was a lot of fun.

I'm... I'm so sorry. I hope that things get better soon. Remember that there will always be a place for you in the group once things settle down.

Female Half-Elf Rogue 3/ Urban Ranger 2

Are Alget and Corvin's characters going to be with us as we continue?

My current plan is "yes".

That being said, Corvin might kind of come and go as a DMPC. Algret should definitely stay, although she can be either a DMPC or a second character of a player, if anyone would be interested in that.

I wouldn't mind.

Then you can go right ahead and create another profile if you'd like; maybe a name like "Algret Durthane, Priestess of Torag". You can just copy Algret's previous profile page and use the stats.

Done

Looks good.
