I feel bad for my Texans, but I enjoyed watching my Broncos win. I enjoyed watching Peyton hit the record of 51 TD passes with my Dad. Given his age and health issues this might be one of the last games we watch together, and I treasure these moments.

I need the Dolphins to win next week so the Ravens stay out of the playoffs. I guess the Ravens losing will also help.

:)

I don't care for the Patriots, but I still hate the Ravens for what they did to Cleavland.

As someone from southern Ohio, I don't care about Cleveland's woes. And in fact my dislike for the Ravens is due to the fact that I see them as Browns of a different color.

Pats buried the Ravens hard.

I would love to have a "winter super bowl" for once before shuffling off this mortal coil. The last one was before I have any memory of watching any football at all...

Woot! GEAUX SAINTS!!!

3 down, 1 to go. I'm 2-1 out of the 4 picks this weekend. Will San Fran beat the Pack, or the reverse? Only a REALLY COLD football game will tell!

Stupid Bungles...

Scarab Sages

Congrats to San Fran. That was an entertaining game. And I'm not sure you could pay me enough to sit through that cold.

Project Manager

Eh, it's not that bad. Tomorrow's going to be a high of -8, without wind chill. That, I wouldn't want to sit through.

This game really surprised me, especially given how close the rest of the wild card games were this weekend. The game I found the most exciting to watch was the 44-45 KC-Indy game Saturday afternoon.

Shadow Lodge

Omaha! Omaha! No wonder Omaha Steaks joined in on the donations for every time Peyton says this in the game.

When the defense hears this they know they have just entered the kill floor and are about to be disassembled.

I read, and I'm not sure how true this is, that Omaha simply means one, which means on one snap count.

Shadow Lodge

I have to disagree.

GM Niles wrote:

My understanding, from various interviews, is that Omaha can mean any of several things depending upon context. Including meaning nothing at all. Manning isn't stupid and wouldn't give information like that away to the D-line. But I'm sure he'd like the D-line to believe that Omaha means "one," so he can pull lots of penalties....

I hope the 'Hawks win, because then my Cardinals will have been the last team to beat the Super Bowl champs, thus proving we're better!

(Yeah, I know, but ... I'm still sore we didn't get in at 10-6.)

Dark Archive

I will probably not watch the Super Bowl not interested in seeing either team win the Super Bowl. The Legion of Boom are a bunch of dinks and I have always hated the Broncos so a no win situation for me.

I live in Omaha. Some of the hooplah here regarding Peyton's audibles is ridiculous.
On a happier note, because of it they named a rockhopper penguin chick at the zoo here after Peyton :)

Scarab Sages

Congrats to the Broncos and Seahawks. I'll probably cheer for the Broncos in the Super Bowl because....Peyton Manning, one of those home grown NOLA boys.

And after hearing reports that Seahawk fans threw food at Bowman when he was being carted off the field, I could not in good conscience even be paid to cheer for them.

I hardly think that's representative of all or even most Seahawks fans.

Sherman's yammering hasn't helped their public persona, either.

Project Manager

I'm pretty sure you can find individual examples of fans of every NFL franchise that have done something as reprehensible as the popcorn-throwing (which was done, as you can see from videos of it, by 2-3 people max). And Sherman, incidentally, publicly called out the fans who did it.

Scarab Sages

True, most teams have fans like that. But I can't remember the last time a team* had some who threw food at a player who had been injured so severely.

As for Sherman - he might have been a little loud-mouthed after the game, but not too bad, in my humble opinion. Hell, it was a point of high emotions all around. And he had the common decency to apologize to Erin Andrews after he heard she thought he had been yelling at her.

*Note -Excludes Philly fans. I lived there for 12 years and know how bad they get.

Sherman is actually quite intelligent, articulate and thoughtful, despite his bravado and persona. While he could probably have handled himself with a little less wild-eyed hyperbole when speaking with the corn chowder-fed New Englander girl (and thereby scaring all the suburbanites in the US), the outcry that's resulted, in which he's been called "thug," "sociopath," and, of course, that "n"-word, is so far beyond ridiculous I'm appalled.

I believe him when he says Crabtree was askin' for it.

Scarab Sages

Yeah, the hype against him is a little more than ridiculous. He's just the "thug du jour" so to speak. A sad result, in part, of the 24 hours news cycle, I think. And while I think he's not completely innocent in the confrontation with Crabtree, I think Crabtree's reaction was a bit childish as well.

I meant I believe him when he said something happened between them at Larry Fitzgerald's charity event—that Crabtree was a disrespectful little prick and he never forgot it.

Scarab Sages

I had not heard about that. But, then again, my football fu has been weak this year. Too much else occupying my poor, tender head for much of the season.

Liberty's Edge

Sherman's a bit of a trash talker, and he's quite outspoken, but he is truly passionate about his game, and he is an exemplary human being off the field.

He's also arguably the best at what he does, so he's earned the right to strut a bit.

Project Manager

Well, not only that, but if you ask questions of a dude who just more or less single-handedly guaranteed his team is going to the Super Bowl, mere seconds after he made that play, while he's still charged up on adrenaline, you're not going to get polished, well-thought out answers. Frankly, I'm surprised she got intelligible responses at all.

Scarab Sages

Now I've got this picture in my head of an NFL player being interviewed after a big victory and just giving all his answers in grunts.

It will come if good dudes like Sherman keep catching crap for being emotional and competitive.

Dark Archive

"Okay I might be rethinking this Seahawk thing. I will never route for the Broncos and I don't like Manning. But Pete Carroll and Sherman I might be routing for them if I had too. Still upset that the Patriots lost though.

Never be upset when good triumphs over evil ... and that's what happens every time the Patriots lose.

BOOOOOO !!!!

I have grown up a Patriots fan even in the dark days when they went 2-14 and were the laughing stock. So they were the underdog and will always be the good guy, the bad guys the Broncos were the ones who won not the good guys that day.

I like the way you think. I promise, during the zombiepocalypse, we'll eat you last.

I'm looking forward to giving a Sherman like taunt at my GM after I defeat his creature.

Well, I’m the best player in the game! When you try me with a sorry GM like Bob, that’s the result you gonna get! Don’t you EVER talk about me. Bob. Don’t you open your mouth about the best. Or I’m gonna shut it for you real quick!

Can't wait for Sunday. Go Hawks!

Nope. Liked the Patriots until it was revealed they were cheating. Now the evil pervades the organization, and any return to glory will require the departure of the evil genius Bellichick.

No way around it, dude. Your guys are the bad guys.

Sorry, man. It sucks when the truth hurts ... and the various attempts to set what they did at naught just don't ring true.

I do admire your loyalty. Still, as an Arizona Cardinals fan, mine is vastly more impressive than yours.

Soooo...you're saying I should hang back and let the rest of the Horde get taken out like good little cannon fodder until you run out of ammo?

If you can think enough to do that, you're not a zombie. Nice work reasoning yourself out of existence.

That was easy. I win. >:)

Wow ... 22-0 at halftime.

And to think, just a few weeks ago, my Cardinals went up to Seattle and whipped these guys. :)

Sovereign Court

Your "cardnials"? Jaelithe you must be quite the trooper :)

Watching in my lunch break (in Sydney Australia) the last touch down I hear a lone woohoo from a floor or two up.... So many ads... I am not sure what the time delay for the broadcast is but Seattle is 36 points up.

Sovereign Court

Didnt expect a blow out.

I was expecting a football game. I'm not sure what I was watching but it wasn't a football game.

Guess what PathfinderWiki articles got edited while watching the game?
