Notre Dame. Notre Dame. Notre Dame. Notre Dame.

Scarab Sages

WOOT!!! Although, sadly, I missed the game. I was in transit.

I was pounding Genesee Cream Ales and screaming at the top of my lungs.

Huzzah!

The Robot Top Eleven

(That is, what the rankings would be if we just averaged the rankings from the six BCS computer systems)

#1 — Notre Dame
#2 — Florida
#3 — Ohio State
#4 — Alabama
#5 — Oregon
#6 — Georgia
#7 — Stanford
#8 — Kansas State
#9 — LSU
#10 — South Carolina
#11 — Oklahoma

Scarab Sages

Yeah, poor Ohio State picked a bad year to go undefeated.

Other than last year when both won a playoff game? ;-)

LOL! IIRC those were ugly wins, but it's less ugly than the previous seasons. To make matters worse it's like I can console myself by rooting for Diane's Jags either. ;)

I guess I like underdogs.

Scarab Sages

Whelp, my Saints had a blah year, but what the hell, there's always next year.

Tomorrow night LSU plays their bowl game.

And I'm looking forward to the National Championship game. I'll be cheering on Notre Dame.

Not so sure about th Super Bowl, but as long as it isn't Falcons versus Patriots I might at least watch it.

Go Broncos! :)

Scarab Sages

I can cheer for the Broncos. Wouldn't mind seeing them go all the way.

Go Tigers!

Scarab Sages

In other news, one of the Super Bowl pools I'm on I've got one square - my numbers are 7 & 6 - awesome numbers and $250 per quarter. The other pool I'm on covers some of the big bowl games and the Super Bowl. Decent numbers on a few games, but not all of them. That ones only $50 per quarter.

I knew the tigers were going to win!

Scarab Sages

And with that bowl game over, I think Les Miles has outlived his time at LSU. They need someone who can rebuild them into a National Championship team, not a team that embarrasses the SEC by loosing to the ACC.

Scarab Sages

Damn, if it wasn't so hilarious I'd almost feel sorry for Florida. And I thought LSU's loss was embarrassing.

Scarab Sages

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I think Louisville needs to change their helmet logo to Angry Bird.

Scarab Sages

And dammit! If the teams aren't going to make this a more competitive and exciting game, then the least they could do is give me the score I need to win some money on the pool.

Scarab Sages

Gotta say, I'm getting more excited about the upcoming BCS title game. It's looking to be one hell of a match up.

I wasn't sure who was more likely to lose their s***, Florida's coach or the ESPN guys sucking his ...

seriously, though; Muschamp needs to refill his prescription.

The whole thing was literally embarrassing.
I'm embarrassed.
Not by the fact that we lost. S!@$ happens.

You don't go for an onside kick at the beginning of the 3rd quarter when you're down two touchdowns. And, for f@**'s sake, the coaches need to not get 15 yard penalties for being in the white zone.

It's intolerable.

I'm embarrassed to lose through utter and complete hamhanded f%~*pumpery like that.

I mean, I usually try to avoid "armchair quarterbacking," but this was truly sophomoric and/or moronic. This was the behavior of a Village Idiot.
I don't even think I'm armchair quarterbacking. That would infer some sort of quarterbacking was being displayed. That was completely Ringling Brothers. Clowns beating each other with rubber chickens.

I'm embarrassed.

Scarab Sages

1 person marked this as a favorite.

And I still didn't win an money! F$@% Louisville and Florida for not conspiring to gift me with cash!

I am looking forward to the playoffs should be a good one this year and my Patriots are clicking at just the right time. I know that does not make you very happy AZ but they have been looking better and have a good chance to go far yet again this playoffs.

Scarab Sages

As long as the Falcons don't win the Superbowl, I'm good.

Project Manager

I'm just happy the Packers got a bye this Saturday.

Scarab Sages

The Packers started the season poorly, but came on real strong. I kind of hope they go all the way. I can gleefully see either them or the 49ers taking out the Falcons.

Vikings come to Lambeau Field this Saturday.

I don't think the Packers will be able to stop Peterson on Saturday. I believe they will settle for stopping everyone else in purple instead.

The Exchange RPG Superstar 2008 Top 6, Contributor

Damn those Ducks play fine football.

Scarab Sages

And yet, still, I have no pool money to show for it. Damn them.

I believe Notre Dame is getting killed.

I believe that The Mask says it best, to paraphrase: "SMOKED 'EM!!"

Go SEC!

Center to quarterback, "Don't get bigger than your britches, son."

Roll Tide Roll

Scarab Sages

Damn, I'll admit I had thought ND would play a bit better. That was embarrassing. But it once again demonstrates that the SEC is the most dominant conference in college football.

Congrats to the Tide.

No sacks by ND ... no picks ... the Alabama QB is only a junior and is poised to grab a THIRD crystal football in the 2013-2014 season to make it a three-peat.

I'm thinking a playoff system might have prevented this.

It probably would have according to the columns talking about the bloodbath in question.

Yeah, there is no way ND would have been on the field if we had a playoff system.

True. But at the moment I can't think of any team that would have beat Bama, except maybe another SEC team.

Sure, they talk about Oregon and that incredible offence, but guess what? They were talking the same way about Oregon a year or so back when LSU beat the crap out of them in the first game of the season. Would such a win over Bama have been possible? Of course. Would it have been likely? Not really.

Scarab Sages

Ohio may have had a better chance against Bama, but sanctions kept them out. They'll be back next year though.....

List of FBS teams at the end of the 2012 postseason with 12 FBS wins:

Alabama
Notre Dame
Ohio State
Stanford

But Oregon gets #2, in both the AP and BCS. Pfah.

Indeed. I think so to.

Is the playoff starting next year? It's four teams right? Any idea how they will seed it?

I recall it wasn't starting until the 2014 season, but someone told me today that it was starting next season (or later this year). I'm not sure which is correct.

As far as how it's seeded, I think they'll keep the current system for ranking, pick the top 4 teams, and winnow them out from there. I believe the big bowl games (Sugar, Cotton, Rose, and Orange) will rotate hosting the playoff games. I may be wrong, but that's what I recall from first hearing the news.

Scarab Sages

As an aside, while I like the playoff system finally being initiated, I hope they think about expanding it from 4 teams to maybe 6. Then they wouldn't have to rotate the big bowls.
