If that's what you want to call it. ;-)
@Aberzombie. Yeah, Miles needs to be happy about that. I'm still waiting for one of his classic "it wouldn't work for a coach with a brain, but Les is a football idiot savant" moments...

Two of the best one-legged stools to ever play the game! Awesome defensive struggles are the norm here in the SEC, but why didn't either team field an offense? Oh, right NO quarterbacks! Both sucked at special teams, not to mention stupid penalties and inept coaching. Oh, lets! LSU showed once more why they excel at criminality, on and off the field. But putting a crippled player out to field a crucial punt return? Ack! And my kid sister could call better plays than LSU's last dozen! I had to listen to beery Bammer twits whine about 'poor execution', etc. from late first quarter on. Come on, both teams had 2 weeks to prepare!
A pox on both! Go Stanford!

Hmm. I want a world where
1) Oklahoma State, Boise State, and Houston win out the season.
2) Georgia Tech wins on the 10th
3) Tennessee wins on the 12th.
4) Ohio State and California win on the 19th.
5) Arkansas wins on the 25th.
6) Auburn, South Carolina, and Notre Dame win on the 26th.
7) Georgia wins the SEC championship game.
Then we find out if the polls are willing to put a two-loss BCS-conference team in the BCS Championship Game when there are three undefeated teams in FBS football. Either way, people will scream.

GO TEBOW!!!
*kneels down on one knee*
It was a great day of football today, for Tebow true believers everywhere.
Tebow=Awesome. Let noone doubt.
That's right. I forgot.
All it takes is for a quarterback to beat really bad teams nowadays to achieve sainthood in the NFL.

That would work see. I'd settle for Stanford, OSU, and LSU winning out and having an undefeated BCS conference team shut out of the title game.
As a 56 yr Auburn fan/student, etc., I relish the thought of a legit play-off to replace the current popularity contest that has AWARDED a mythical championship rather than having a true best-of-the-best.

Is it too much to hope for a 49ers/Steelers Super Bowl this year? Yeah, I know the Ravens have beaten the Steelers twice this season, but in a year when the Lions have a winning season and the Bengals are #1 in their division, anything is possible.
%*$#ing Steelers. Back to the soft zone pass coverage. I had hopes they would abandon it after the Pats game, but there it was again yesterday. What I dont get is how can a corner play off by 10 yards and yet still get beat in the endzone by a good 5+ yards?!? /rant
On a positive note, I have less fear that they'll overlook the Bengals now.

I've got a co-worker who attended Penn State. From what he says, they'll riot over the smallest thing, or even nothing at all.
As for JoePa getting fired - it sucks to see his career end this way, but ultimately he brought it on himself by not taking more direct action. That Board of Trustees is doing everything they think necessary to protect the university, I can't fault them for that.

What bothers me is not that Paterno got fired.
What I dislike is that McQueary, the man who allegedley witnessed the shower assault, is not only so far retaining his coaching position, but will coach for Saturday's game against Nebraska.
If Paterno got fired for his failure to do more, then what does that say about this actuall witness?

"I hear there's a rumor that there will be a more shocking development from the Second Mile Foundation -- and hold on to your stomachs, boys, this is gross, I will use the only language I can -- that Jerry Sandusky and Second Mile were pimping out young boys to rich donors. That was being investigated by two prominent columnists even as I speak."

Agree McQueary needs to go immediately.

It looks like McQueary and Paterno did what was required by law, they made sure to report to the overseer of the Penn State police force what had happened.
However, that overseer of police(Gary Schultz) and the athletic director covered up the problem.
At that point, what do you do? Paterno could have resigned and held a press conference and made the accusation public...which would accomplish exactly what is happening now, and some boys would have been saved from molestation.
But most men are not that heroic, it takes a lot of courage to quit your job and go public like that. Of course now Paterno's career is going to be the second most thing he is famous for, and his reputation as well as Penn State's is stained.
McQueary though, if he tried that, he may have been ignored by the media.

I think JoePa brought it on himself for just plain simply lasting as long as he did; eventually someone, somewhere will find what you do scandalous, no matter what it might or might not be. He was either going to leave in disgrace or die on the pigiron.
And yeah, I went to Penn State (grad school). The student body did riot over WINNING big games. And then there's the whole alcohol culture: ask most of the undergrads, it's only for binge drinking, and that's why you do it. Ask most of the upper staff, and alcohol must be avoided by all good students--because it's only for binge drinking.
Honestly, I hope this doesn't stop with JoePa. He hung on to football for too long, but at least he was honest about hanging on to football. Some of the folks there really feel more like rentiers than administrators.

Hmm, risk being turned down by the media or risk children being ass-raped indefinitely?
I do think it's easy to stand on moral high ground and point a finger and that it's not always easy to do the right thing. We're human and make mistakes. I probably would have done no better if I was in McQueary's shoes back then. If I was in his shoes today, I would hope I'd have the integrity to resign.

InVinoVeritas: where are you located? You still in PA? Im a local and its always good to meet more RPGers. Yeah I know that PSU students just look for reasons to riot. I blame it on people coming from varied and exotic locations to State College where you can a) Binge drink or b) nothing on a Saturday night.
Wholeheartedly agree Mcqueary should be gone.
The conspiracy theorist in my wonders if any of this is connected to the DA that vanished a few years back. He did investigate Second Mile, but never brought charges. Link is just to his wiki entry though.

Yea, verily. Unfortunately both of state colleges game stores are no longer open, as far as I can tell. 8/ I used to love State College. Crowbar for awesome bands, great comic book shops, a nice vinyl record store, and great RPG shopping. Now not so much..

You know I have seen several quarterbacks have games this year, where there is nothing a defensive back could do, with where they are placing passes. Rodgers just seems to do it ever week.

I remember seeing an article from between games 8 & 9 that said he already had over 2600 yards passing, 24 touchdowns, and over 100 rushing yards, among other stats.

It will probably depend on how quickly they wrap up home field throughout the playoffs. If San Fran keeps winning so they have to keep it up he may just set all of those records.
