If there's anybody else out there who is relatively new to the Pathfinder boards, feel free to introduce yourself.

It's also helpful to provide some context for the NE 17th Lvl Director of Marketing Joshua Frost if you let Paizo know how you found out about Pathfinder and why you're interested.

As for myself, I've only been on these boards a month, but the community here is very mature and eager to help new converts. I was a longtime D&D fan and now I find myself not liking the change in direction for the game. I found Pathfinder after looking on the web for companies who would reinvigorate 3rd Edition. Paizo fit the bill perfectly.

I guess by my post-count I'd be considered a new guy.

I switched to this forum after deciding to renew my subsciptions to Dungeon and Dragon. This coincided with the Age of Worms Adventure Path, which totally hooked me.

I found the forums here to be much more to my liking than the forum I used to vist. This one actually contains people capable of mature, rational discussion. The other one had devolved into a sad joke.

Dark Archive

I guess I'm new...even though I've been lurking around :)

I found out about Pathfinder through the group I'm in, one of them has a subscription. Once I played 4e for the first time, I realized that 3P was the place to be for me!!

I enjoy 3.X and anything that keeps it going has my money.

AWESOME.

Welcome, new folks. In addition to cookies we like to get a group photo when new people join. So, why don't you all stand over on that big "X" over there? Huddle together and look at the red light over there.

No it does not look like any camera you have seen before. It is a special camera for taking pictures of screen personalities. Just eat your cookies and stand on the "X".

This will only take a second...

I guess like Cuchulainn, I'm new by post count, though I've been around since the start of CotCT...

I've been roleplaying for nearly six years, but never GMed a game. I'd always intend to but ran into massive creative roadblocks every time I tried to write something, no matter what system I tried, plus I'm not the most confident person so the idea kind of scared me a bit. My other half who was running STAP for a group I was in at the time (and had just finished running AoW), encouraged me to take a look at Pathfinder; he'd read RotRL and really enjoyed it and Edge of Anarchy had just come out, so if I snagged it right now I could read it before he did so he would get the chance to play for a change :). Read it, loved it, got an AP subscription.

Six months later, my group is about to finish Seven Days to the Grave (and we're loving it! Campaign diary here, written by above-mentioned OH, with GM notes scattered about to break it up a little. I should really update with this weeks session actually), and I've finally admitted that I'm addicted to Golarion's fluff and buying almost everything else Pathfinder anyway so am now a Superscriber :).

Sorry, that was probably overly long, it's possible I'm avoiding getting back to work...

Hello all,

eirip here. I have been reading the boards for about a year but just recently started posting. I just got back into gaming in 05 after a 20 year hiatus. Boy have I missed a lot. I am currently in four campaigns, trying to make up for lost time. I DM one and play in the others.

I currently play 3.5 and will be moving to the PFRPG at the beginning of the year. I don't anticipate me going to 4.0 exclusively, although I will give it a try.

Well that's all for now. Nice to meet y'all..

Greetings,

New by post count, but have been reading the boards for quite a while. I was on a year and a half hiatus from D&D, having moved clear across the country from my old group. Just started playing a couple of months ago again. My new DM ran us through Seven Days to the Grave, which we are just finishing, I think.

I've also been reading the Beta as the group is debating about which way to continue, stay 3.5, go mix of 3.5 and Pathfinder, or go 4th. Right now, with our current character mix, we are running mostly classes that have not yet been released, a Druid, a swordsage (Bo9S), a Shadowcaster, a Mystic Thereuge (sp?), a Psion and a couple of others I can't remember offhand.

Almost 10000 posts and more aliases then an MI6 operative? i'd say your seals been broken for a while now.

Liberty's Edge

ok, i'm closing in on 500 posts, but i've only been active for a few months, so i guess i'm "relatively new" (per the OP's requirement)

hi, my name is derek, and im a gamer.

i started playing in '79, AD&D, when i was 9. i didn't start playing well until 6th grade, though.

D&D is my main game, but i enjoy traveller, shadowrun, paranoia, warhammer, and a few other games as well. i really would love to play in a deadlands game, but, being in houston, this kinda scares me...

i discovered paizo while in the federal hoosegow, when i asked my mom to order me a sunscription to dungeon magazine so i could run some prefabs with the homebrew stuff in my game.

i had noticed the decline in the dragon and dungeon in the late 90's, so i wasn't expecting much.

wow, was i wrong.

the first issue i received was (i think) the one with the green dragon on the cover. i was blown away, it was so well put together.

i renewed for another year, but most of my group was released before the second sub ran out, so another guy picked up the sub.

i was gung ho about getting a dungeon sub when i got out, but the first day i stepped into an FLGS in nearly seven and a half years was the day the last issue of the paizo mags hit the shelf.

i was bummed.

then i remembered the web site, registered an account, then forgot about it for almost six months.

finally, i was in the FLGS again, and decided to flip through one of the modules. as soon as i got home, i found all the free stuff i could download off the site (including the first alpha) and started reading. and, as soon as i found a stable paycheck job (no living off tips) i subscribed to some stuff. then i got my first batch of stuff and decided to subscribe to everything else pathfinder (no planet stories, i barely have time to read my rpg stuff, it took me almost two months to finish the last books of two sara douglass series i started...)

moral of the story? first, don't break the law, prison sucks. second? paizo rocks.

Great, I've finally located the Eighth Dwarf! Seven more to go and I will have the whole set!

I too have been a lurker for a time and have finally started posting. The community is awesome, fine folks, and have been really helpful with questions on the game.

Have less than ten posts, but will be working on it in the future!

Playing through STAP at the moment. Lots of fun!

You are only the second person ever to get it :-)

Now for the grand prize who was the 8th dwarf through the door and what happened to him

It was the (Alias)of my first Shadowrun character who's parents were human and Tolkien fans so they named their UGE (Unexplained Genetic Expression)dwarf son after one of Tolkiens dwarves. He was a rigger with an aim to owning a Banshee LAV.

Hi I'm Hugo, a follower of Paizo since they started publishing Dragon and Dungeon.

I'm new to the boards (60 posts only...) since my spare time is quite limited thou I can pinpoint now whom of you guys are quite frequent posters. Also I already got my cookie from lilith, yummi!

I'm Mexican and started at D&D back in 1990. Quite a feat for someone without access to FLGS... I learned english by reading the AD&D 2nd edition PH and the DMG and lots of Dark Sun, so you'll have to excuse me if my writting sucks, never got proper english classes!

I got draged into Paizo for the first time to download the Githyanki city for the Lich Queen's Beloved aventure, and since then I've been a regular visitor, Thou I'd never posted before (anywhere).

Paizo's quality and compromise to the game made me stick with them when WotC killed Dungeon and Dragon (now literally killed D&D(s)...) and when I first downloaded RotRL I almost cried tears of joy to see our precious game being taken into the hands of caring writers. I quickly suscribed to all PF stuff.

The recent edition wars in the posts called my atention and it was quite a laugh to see all the jokes posted there. There were some mean post and all but it just can get as offensive as you take it seriously or personal. So after seeing the "community" in here I started to post a few comments and after finding out of Lilith's cookies I decided t post more and try to slip into the community (and get a ccokie!).

Now I'm a 100% paizonian who will try to attend to the Con next year to meet some of you in person; and hopefully find some time to keep posted and laugh at your jokes here and throw one of my own every now and then.

Congrats Paizo on your wonderful work and for helping in building up this funny and devoted community!

Cheers fellow Cheliaxians, paizonians, paizo staff members and all other posters who do not fall in those categories!

I was on the verge of leaving role-playing scene behind when one of the players in my group showed up talking about Monte Cook's Book of Experimental Might. After checking out his copy, the fire was rekindled. While lurking through the shadowy halls of Monte Cook's forums, I stumbled across a thread that mentioned Monte joining with Paizo to work on something called Pathfinder. After downloading Pathfinder Alpha 3, I was completely hooked. When I saw that the Beta version was available as a free download, I decided to get it. Of course, to do that, I had to register. Then I discovered that I could now interact with all of you wonderful people.

If that last part didn't sound believable, it's probably because I only rolled a 4 on my Bluff check. ;D

I'm fairly new to posting but I've lurked off and on since learning of the RPG Superstar contest.

I've played D&D on and off since I was about 12 (red box - which I still have). I picked it up again about a year ago after a 12 year hiatus by joining an Epic campaign already in progress. Then I moved and haven't played since but have taken the time to try to develop my own campaign. I learned a lot about development just from keeping up with RPG Superstar (and I have to say that everyone involved was brilliant). I also enjoyed the community on these boards and wanted to check it out more.

So, Superstar introduced me to GameMastery modules and I downloaded Hollow's Last Hope. I loved it, so I decided that when I was finally out of debt I'd become a subscriber. Now I may be working my way back into debt by becoming a subscriber, but at least I'm having fun doing it. :P

Recently, I was recruited as the DM for a local group of friends and I'm trying to get them to enter the Pathfinder Society. We have yet to meet, however, since work hours conflict so much (which means I haven't had much time to persuade them to join). I must confess, though, that I'm really nervous of being a DM for the first time in roughly 20 years.

(This is probably the longest post I've ever written, anywhere.)

Shadow Lodge

Greetings and Salivation,

Initially I avoided posting on the boards, so for the past year or so I mostly "lurked". Then Gen Con 08 happened, and the hook went in DEEP. I've been roleplaying for about 15 years now. I'm part of a regular group that's been getting together every week for the past 14 years, give or take. We played AD&D, Vampire (the perpetual hassle ;) ), Werewolf, D&D 3/3.5; currently we're split between 2 of us wanting to play Pathfinder, and 2 that want to play 4E *spits*.

I was VERY late getting on the Dungeon and Dragon magazine bandwagon. I started with Dragon, and when renewal came up I added Dungeon...then, 3 issues later, it was ALL OVER. I decided to check out the web site to see what would follow, and ran headlong into Pathfinder. Long story short, I am addicted to Paizo. I'm tempted to go on a rant about how great their products/people are, but anyone reading this is fully aware.

And these messageboards have found a spot in me that I forgot about, since my local BBS's were eaten by the world wide web back in 1994.

Cheers to all of you, the Paizo community as a whole is truly remarkable, and I count myself fortunate to be part of it.

Greetings and salutations all. Haven't really been too active on here, but I hope things go well and I'm looking forward to taking part in the pathfinder society adventures in the future.

Hopefully something will get going in Minnesota soon.

I too am new to the boards. I just started posting about a month ago when I finally found some players interested in playing on Saturday's. We met and talked about playing in Pathfinder's world and they wanted to try out Expedition to Undermountain, which led to my first posting asking where to put it. I decided to put it under the Irespan in Magnimar. I knew about Paizo from my subscription to Dungeon and to Dragon magazines. When WotC decided to end the contract I was left with some unused time left. I chose to accept a subscription the the first AP. I am trying to keep up but with a limited budget it isn't easy. I hope my game continues but I am wondering because one of my players has already decided to drop out and another doesn't show up or call. We will see what happens.

Hey, guys. I think this is my second post. I'm totally new, though I've been playing DnD since about a year or two before 3.0 came out.

I DM and play mostly 3.5 games, and now i'm getting into Pathfinder, which I am very pleased takes everything I love about 3.5 and makes it a bit better. I'm eager to start playtesting the official RPG, and I'm currently running the Rise of the Runelords adventures.

I still haven't found time to play 4.0 (or get involved with a game; most of my friends still play 3.5), but I'm not really all that eager to switch. Not when people are making new material for the game i've been playing.

Heya Frogmantis, welcome to the boards and hope you have a good time here.

Yeah I don't post much but what they heck.

I've been gaming off and on since I was 8. First got a date of gaming with my (at the time) teenaged cousin who played AD&D. Cut my teeth on Dragonlance. I still remember my first character being a priest of Chemosh heh.

Anyways, moved onto Palladium games such as TMNT and Heroes Unlimited, as well as the old TSR Marvel Superheroes game. Played those for a couple of years, took a break, went back to em, started in on 2nd ed. D&D and played off and on from 2nd to 3.5 since.

I don't really have a gaming group out here living in Korea, but I'm still buying Paizo products. I like to support the industry and I'm sure I'll get around to using my stuff one day soon.

I just found out about Pathfinder today, so I thought that I'd give it a try. I figure that the best place to find out more about this new addition to the system would be these message boards, so here I am. Looking forward to exploring the updated system.

I've been lurking over the boards for some time now. My one year subscriptions to Dragon and Dungeon magazines expired with the last issues (timing, huh?) and I've enjoyed trolling the boards since I first set up an account here. I've never posted with much frequency, and my posts don't generally contribute much to anything, but right now I'm deployed overseas and I like to see what's going on.

The 4th edition bickering really pushed me away from the boards, and I don't really look at the Pathfinder play-testing boards much, either. Too many arguments about who's right and who's wrong.

I'm currently gameless (!) while I'm deployed overseas with the Navy, but I've been buying a lot of PDF's to look over while I'm bored on the ship. Hopefully when I get back to San Diego I can get a game going (I've been playing for almost 19 years), and hopefully it'll be 3.5/3.P.

Cheers!

Hello I just downloaded Pathfinder a few days ago and began lurking threw the boards extensively... I have been playing D&D in it various forms since the early 80’s... What drew me to these boards and Pathfinder in general is when they announce the new edition of D&D I look over to the book shelf and realized do I want to invest in another edition or should I look for an option that complements what I already have... Since all my 3.x playing experience have been play over the message boards (and sad to report most are short lived), however once I did played in a campaign that lasted close to five years and the character actual made it to epic levels... So I am looking forward is sharing my adventures and misadventures with Pathfinder...

Hi, I found out about Pathfinder a few days ago in a helpful customer review of Forgotten Realms Campaign Guide, 4th Edition at Amazon.com. The whole Pathfinder idea blows me away. It's so refreshing to see a publisher that involves the community in editing and design to this level. It's especially nice to see my favorite game getting this kind of love! I'm excited to see where this is going.
