Village Tiles instead of Dungeon Tiles

Okay so I have an addiction to dungeon tiles, but I have a problem with them. So far I've had little use for them, Most of my campaigns activities have either been based outdoors (thank god for ruins of the wild, I bought two sets of that and it fixed that issue) or in towns. So while Ruins of the wild has solved my outdoors issues, My town issue is still waiting on a fix. The problem is that dungeon tiles don't have walls so I can't really create a house or building with multiple rooms of different shapes because when the dungeon tiles press together there are no walls. Also and this is the more important issue, I have nothing to put inside. Right now I have every dungeon tile set, and out of that I have one bed, two tables, and a bookshelf. There are more, but they are made of bone or have blood all over them or are arcane in nature when I'm looking for mundane. I need the things to decorate a building, multiple tables of different sizes, desks and bookshelves, crates and barrels. Does anyone know of either a set of tiles like I'm looking for, or barring that a collection of minis for that purpose and where to find them?

I remember have seen something like that as fold up PDFs on RPGnow.com.
If not go to ebay.com over there are sold hundreds minis a day.

Check out the Flip-Mats here on Paizo. They are an excellent product and fill that niche for specific areas very nicely. Here's a link: http://paizo.com/store/byCompany/p/paizoPublishingLLC/gameMastery/maps/stee lSqwireFlipMats.

Flip mats are a great start. I am thinking of buying a second one and cutting it up so I can make the town modularly. The Gamemastery Map Packs has some buildings also.

You can get 2-D buildings at RPGNow here:link.

Also try ebay for 3-D props. I search with key words; D&D, furniture, terrain, accessories, and scenery. An example is; link.

Try here they have a great choice for 3d props

There is also Fat Dragon Games.

They make pdfs that you can download and print out on cardstock. Some of them fold up to make 3D props. Also, the tavern set might be good for actual floor plans for urban buildings. I haven't seen it myself yet, though.

I do have their first set of dungeon tiles and I'm pretty happy with it.

There is also Dwarven Forge.

But generally speaking, I think flip-mats from Paizo are the most versatile tool of this sort.

Yeah see I just did that with some of the tiles from hall of the mountain king (which actually gave me a few things I want. Specifically the bookshelves and the bedroom (cut into individual matresses). I was kinda hoping there would be a 2d version I didn't have to cut up, but I guess that's just hoping too much. Thanks for all the links for 3-d models. Tables and chair and shelves are great in 3-d cause the you can use them in the way a person would if the table is turned on its side or shelves knocked over to use as cover etc. you can actually do it.

Like you, I'd purchased every dungeon tile set but discovered that I was having to lay out a weird combination of tiles to arrive at the specific room shapes. I gave up and moved back to using vinyl mats (I use three which works out nicely). That of course doesn't solve your problem.

Also like you I wanted to be able to represent places in town. So I created a few full sized building designs using Campaign Cartographer 3, including all the furnishings. These are on my site and you're welcome to use them: AWizardInDallas. I'm by no means finished with every possible building combo, but it's a start. :) I may even entertain requests since it will help me out to know what people are looking for.

P.S. I personally don't care for the flip mats because they're not as well made as the dungeon tiles. Also, I've tried looking at doll house furniture in the past (no workie, wrong scale) and I've used balsa wood, making my own furnishings (works better but the tend to blow over...especially book shelves).

P.S.S. This is ultimately what I'd love to use: Hirst Arts

You can check www.rackham-store.com and check the cadwallon section. They made AWESOME city tiles (not too thick cardboard thought) and they have plenty of city tiles, stores, warehouses, etc. They are a bit pricy but well worth it. Check it out

Almost forgot, needlework mounting board works great as a tile backing.

I'll second the Cadwallon tiles. Among other things, the flip side of the tile shows the same scene at night.

One minor note, though: The squares are 25mm, not 1", so they don't line up with 1" squares quite correctly.

Third the Cadwallon tiles! I have two sets, and they were worth the price of purchase.

Mageknight a while back had a set of environment minis that included things like fountains and tables. Unfortunately I haven't seen them in the store in a while and lost the ones I had, they were nice cause my players would throw tables on their sides and etc. worked really well and my wife (who always said she had trouble visuallizing the action) loved them.
