Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

The monster goes on 17. Awaiting initiatives from Chris and Mahaffy.

Roylenna's fire flashes from her hands and strikes true. Something flares up and shudders in the mist.

Male Dwarf Rogue 5

Init 11

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

The creature blends back into the mist and disappears. You can make a Perception check to find it.

You're all up.

Female Human Barbarian 7

Perception: 1d20+4=10

Perception (1d20+3=16)

Male Human Druid 2

init Chris (and robin) 1d20+2=16.

Perception (1d20+5=7)

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

OK, you need a Perception 25 to spot the creature, so none of you have seen it this far. But you can still act, and you can do so in any order, if you like.

The stream continues ahead, passing through a large cave, where there is ample space to clamber up onto dry land on both sides. The door is on the left side. The entire cave is filled with mist.

You sighted the monster when it was about 20 feet ahead of Ka'kara (and Roylenna, who was being carried by Ka'kara).

Hope that's enough for you all to state an action.

Female Halfling Sorcerer (celestial)

I can't possibly hit a DC 25 Perception check, so...

"Do you want to go in? I think I scared it for the time being..."

I can't make that perception either.

"Good, it better stay scared. Let's see what behind the door." Ka'kara moves toward the door as far as she can go.

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

The large oak door stands ajar, and there is something written in Viridian around the frame.

Male Dwarf Rogue 5

Mahaffy has got water in his eyes

He move towards the door " Cover me . I'll inspect this door"

Female Human Barbarian 7
Mahaffy wrote:

About to step through the door, Ka'kara instead pulls up short at Mahaffy's words, puts Roylenna down carefully with the words "Take care little sister", and draws her greatsword.

I may being jumping the gun so work that in whenever she would be able to do it.

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

The door does not appear to be trapped. Beyond it a narrow (10 feet) flight of stairs descend into darkness.

Female Halfling Sorcerer (celestial)

Thanks for the lift, sister!

Once she's on the ground again, the wee spellcaster conjures up another set of Dancing Lights. The new set hovers at the just-opened door while the original set is illuminating the area where the 'demon' disappeared.

"Mahaffy, you have eyes like my friend, don't you? Do you need the lights to see? 'cause I can send them down, but he always wanted me to hold them back until he'd scouted first. What do you think?"

Male Human Druid 2

shall I add a swim roll for Robin or can chris help him

I would think that, out of combat in relatively calm water, he might be able to take 10. Chris might be able to aid another in those circumstances, too. Just my 2cp.

Thanks for the answer

She dimples and curtsies to the omnipresent voice echoing through the tunnel.

Male Dwarf Rogue 5

Mahaffy will check the stairs
"What is it , miss ? Oh , no need . I assume you want to keep me in sight . Any light would be visible whether it's with me or you "

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

The stairs do not seem to be trapped. Beyond them a corridor continues straight ahead for about 40 feet before turning to the right.

Female Halfling Sorcerer (celestial)

Roylenna will keep her lights back waiting for an all-clear from the dwarf. Once the rest of the party proceeds, she will take a position near the middle. Her lights will be pushed forward to the dwarf's position if anyone requests - most especially Mahaffy.

Female Human Barbarian 7

Ka'kara watches the mist warily, ready to spring at a moments notice.

Sandros falls toward the rear, letting his sharper eyes drink in the light of Roylenna's magic as they proceed. He too watches over his shoulder for the return of the "mist demon."

Male Human Druid 2

Chris and Robin do as Sandros and falls toward the rear.

Male Dwarf Rogue 5

Mahaffy will continue to progress down the corridor checking for traps

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

You hear a hissing somewhere inside the mist, and catch a glimpse of what might be a claw, but other than that the mist demon stays hidden.

Proceeding down the corridor, it turns and ends abruptly. A quick search by Mahaffy reveals a secret door. Passing through it (after listening and searching for traps) you emerge in a familiar room. To be specific, the room marked "Goblins". The secret door is next to the "G".

Now what?

Female Human Barbarian 7

I just discovered I have a +5 perception and not a +4 so theoretically she could make a DC 25 perception check. Can she take a 20 on this if she spends a couple minutes scanning for the little critter? Just for future reference actually as she is not hanging around.

Seeing that the mist demon is not interested in attacking them any longer and that Sandros, Chris, and Robin are watching for it also, Ka'kara quickly follows Mahaffy. She looks a little disappointed at the revelation that the stairs just lead back to the goblin area but quickly shrugs it off, "Well, there are some passages down here we haven't been too yet. Let's go."

There is a door that it looks like we never went through back in the room marked "movable statues", want to try that?

"Sure! Let's go!"

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

You return to the room with the strange statues and after due searching for traps, open the secret door.

Behind it there is a small corridor that turns to the right before ending in another door. Listening at it and searching it for traps yields nothing, so you proceed into a small room (20 times 30 feet). There are small, four-foot daises in either end with something written in Viridian above each.

There are six headless skeletal bodies splayed about the floor, and the walls and ceilings are smeared with (ancient) dried blood.

Assuming that it's not moving, you could, but it would only have to make a 5'-step to ruin your efforts.

Black Tom wrote:

Headless skeletons are always bad, and usually mean screaming flying demon heads. :P

Sandros looks warily around the room, readying his recently-bought quarterstaff at the sight of the skeletons. He squints up at the writing. "Anyone got a clue what that says?" he asks.

Female Human Barbarian 7

Surveying the ancient carnage, "No, but my guess is Stay out or we'll cut off your head. Looks a lot like a trap to me."

Only the penitent may pass...

Female Halfling Sorcerer (celestial)

I think I missed a chance to interpret something a short time ago, so here are two Linguistics rolls, one for the previous Viridian script, one for this room. Unfortunately, both are equally bad.

Roylenna stares at the script for a moment, but bores quickly and moves to the next script, never staying long enough to actual read them. "I don't think they're very important," she says.

1d20+7=9, 1d20+7=9

I assume Mahaffy is searching for traps at the door and failing to find anything there...

Seeming satisfied with Roylenna's explanation and growing bored with all this searching and deciphering, "We'll let's see what happens then." She jumps to the first dais, crouching when she lands to say avoid anything at head height.

Acrobatics: 1d20+5=25 Stellar jump! If she dies it will have been with style ;)

Male Human Druid 2

Chris in an insecure voice Do anyone of you think I should look for footprints That is, use track

Male Dwarf Rogue 5

What do you mean "at the door" ?!? Mahaffy checks EVERYWHERE !

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

Nothing comes of Ka'karas acrobatic antics. The dust on the floor looks like it has been undisturbed for a long time. Mahaffy finds no traps, but there is a crack in the opposite wall that looks promising, and with some help from Sandros, he manages to find a secret door. As far as he can tell, it's not trapped.

Male Dwarf Rogue 5

" Ok, what was the name of the finder you had before ! Seems he was slacking a bit! I am going to have to recheck every place you have been . It will take days but when you have to do a job , it's best to do it well !'

Traditional dwarf work ethics .. Mahaffy can't escape his education

After taking a moment to determine that nothing untoward is going to happen she stands up straight and looks pleased with herself, "Did you see..." As she looks back and sees Mahaffy making a slow methodical search of the floor she rolls her eyes and the words die on her lips. Using her greatsword as a crutch by putting her greatsword point down and leaning on it she stands, waits, and examines her fingernails.

At Mahaffy's words Ka'kara looks mystified and then a look of realization suddenly appears, "Well, there was Grond.......and then Hella......they never seem to last long though." Mahaffy's frown making her realize what she has said, "No, no! I don't mean that! They just seem to have better things to go off and do...and so....well....leave." She shrugs. Then as the rest of Mahaffy's words sink in, "Days! How about we go looking in the places that we do know exist. There are after all plenty of them. No need to waste......uhhh, spend time looking at every crack in the wall until we do." Obviously feeling a little uncomfortable with Mahaffy's steady frown, "So....where does the concealed door go?" She makes a move to open it.

So nice fingernails are important if you are a hero?

I got problems with my fingernails. They are fragil and they look ordinary...or worse. Any advice?

To barbarians strong fingernails are very important. Of course so is a strong everything else too. Go here: Mayoclinic

You've got way to much time on your hands. Pun intended.

The door opens to reveal a small chamber, which is empty but for the finely crafted ancient battleaxe that hangs on the opposite wall.

"No, that doesn't look suspicious at all," murmurs Sandros dryly.

I've got a bad feeling about this.

Roylenna looks at the beautifully crafted axe, even to her eyes, then to the remains spread around the floor. "Do you think that did this? By itself?" With that, she begins to concentrate on a Detect Magic to see if she can see a dweomer on the ancient weapon.

The weapon radiates moderate transmutation magic.

I see I posted as Zark. My misstake. The post was in Game. LOL Thanx for the adivice anyway since my fingernails need some help too

Female Halfling Sorcerer (celestial)

"The weapon is definitely enchanted. I'm not sure what it's enchanted to do, of course, but considering these," she gestures at the bodies, "I'm thinking we need to tread carefully."

"Proteus, can you tell what those scripts mean?"

If she can, she will attempt to decipher the scripts again, too. If not, perhaps she can Aid Another for Proteus' check?

1d20+7=21, 1d20+7=9

Or maybe just one of them?
