Liberty's Edge

Ravenloft; The Hyskosa Scroll

Part One: A Gathering

Strange, mists don’t usually gather inside a sewer pipe, even one so large as this. Then again, it is early morning, or was the last time Carthan looked up at the sky. Running through the large sewer pips is hard work, especially with the town watch and a bunch of hired thugs after him. A simple mis-step, that damned morning mist was obscuring the very ground at his feet, plunges the elf’s boot into cold sludge what is gathering at the bottom of the huge pipe.

Then the passage he is moving through seems to widen slightly, and dim shadows suggest that there are several pipes branching out from the central one. The hazy flickering light of a torch can be seen up ahead. Have they entered the pipe at the other end? A quick look down the side pipes reveals little, again that damned mist. Still, one pipe holds the dim promise of daylight at its’ end, while the other seems to simply descend into darkness.

(OOC: Carthan, your cue.)

Male Elf Rogue 1

Second guessing what he always felt was a good sense of direction, Carthen turns and dashes down the pipe that shows the hint of sunlight. What is this way, the docks perhaps? It doesn't really matter at this point as he's never had the stamina to cover too long a distance at a run and he needs to find some place to duck out of sight soon, whether its beneath one of the piers or wherever this tube may come out, then so be it.

As he splashes through the thick sludge he grips one of his daggers agitatedly. Damn, how could he be so foolish and have gotten caught this way? His head has gotten too big for the limitations of his body it seems. Even as he forges ahead he begins to make plans on slipping out of the city to lay low for a while. Perhaps even leaving Korvosa altogether for Riddleport or further. The city seems nothing but trouble anyway now.

Liberty's Edge

Moving down the afoul filled pipe begins proving more and more difficult. The morning mist is growing thicker now, a fact that is only highlighted by the increasingly brighter light that appears to be coming from ahead. What it is exactly is very difficult to say, however, for it is not almost impossible to see the pipe itself. A strange smell enters your nose, strange simply in that it is different from the smell of the sewer. It smells earthy, and damp. The sound of your pursuers falls away behind you, and now you cannot hear them at all. Instead, you could swear you hear crickets…

(OOC: Make a Reflex save.)

<Reflex Save=16>

Carthen speeds up as he moves through the foggy pipe. It seems he is getting away after all. It almost smells that he is going to come out at the forest rather then the pier. This must be a totally new pipe that he didn't even know of before, he'll have to remember it. Could be a good way back in the city later.
