Liberty's Edge

... that the Adventure Paths (like Rise of the Runelords) will be available as a boxed set at a reduced cost? Dunno if this has been asked before, so I thought I would ask! Any chance of this happening in the near future?

Or... is there some sort of potential bundle deal available if one were to order the complete set of a particular adventure path? Again dunno if this has also been asked!

Any info would be appreciated, thanks in advance & keep those dice rolling!

From what I understand, Paizo is not going to offer any kind of compiled sets of the adventure paths, as this discourages folks from buying them as they come out. If too many people chose to wait until the compiled set or hardcover came out, Paizo may not be able to make enough to pay for print runs of all the issues.

Makes sense from a certain point of view... their subscriptions pay their rent :)

Even so, I would love to get RotRL but have resisted because it's too pricey. The subscription is sooo much cheaper.

Liberty's Edge

They could still do it with a discount smaller than the subscription. At 10% off instead of 15 and no store discount or PDFs there would still be plenty of reason to subscribe.

Sovereign Court

Or after a certain period of time has passed that we haven't met yet, say 3-4 years after the last issue has been released of the bundle has been released.

The question isn't so much one of recouping costs absolutely, as cash flow. If 25% of subscribers flipped to buying the boxed set, then that is a drastic reduction in cashflow....

Besides, have you seen the stock levels on RotRL? there aren't enough left to sell boxed sets!!

This.

Bills come every month - you need cash flow every month.

RELATED TO RISE OF THE RUNELORDS - Is there any chance Paizo will print more editions of the Runelords Adventure Path? I took a long break from gaming and recently got back into it after I found out about Pathfinder RPG and have every Pathfinder Adventure Path Volumes 7 - the current issue. I can't believe the Rise the Runelords is Out of Print already! I'm trying to get my hands on Rise of the Runelords #1, #3 and #5 but the only places that sell them are from people on Ebay wanting 99$ ea!! I would get the PDFs but my printer is garbage and the pages look horrible when I print them because of it.

PAIZO, can you print some more for a limited time at least?! :)

Paizo does not have any announced plans for reprinting Rise of the Runelords Adventure Path.

Thanks!

@Ghoul - I am not sure if the local chain does mail order sales or not. But the last time I checked they had a copy of 1-6 still in their store sitting on the shelf. So you might try contacting them, they might be willing to do a mail order sale if they still have them.

Fantasy Shops

As for the topic. I personally wouldn't be surprised if some time in the future paizo doesn't come back and update RotRL to pathfinder rules and releases it in a hardback form. Especially if they decided to ever do a follow up to a early AP.

I mean think about it, sell the HB version of the book with say new content that take place after the AP? Or maybe do it as 3 HB each with 3 AP adventures with the 3rd one being all new content. I personally wouldn't be shocked to see that happen. Of course having said that I don't think that will happen anytime soon for reasons already stated.

On the other hand, I bet a collected and updated-to-Pathfinder "second edition" of RotRL would sell pretty well, relative to the time/effort it would take to put together.

I don't see this as disincentivizing subscription, since it's the oldest AP and notoriously hard to find in print. It might also help drive sales of Pathfinder stuff in general -- it's a kind of "classic" style adventure that might appeal to people who aren't as interested in the Pathfinder-based APs thus far. That provides the best of both worlds in that AP authors can keep doing more experimental or exotic things with APs (many of which have been very well received) while also having a very old-school-flavor-ish AP ready to go for people new to Pathfinder.

Heck, you could even throw the PDF version of it free to anyone who either has an AP subscription or did back when RotRL came out.

Maybe so... but two years ago, when I made the post you replied to, the individual issues of the AP were not out of print and could be easily found.
