Hmm...It sounds like you have ground wire. As a guess I would imagine that it would have a green jacket. I've dealt with it before and while it was tough, my circular wire cutters didn't have too tough a time with it. If you are really having a problem with it, just ask the recycler to give you less per pound for it than their usual going rate. 60ft of quarter-inch wire can't be more than a couple pounds, so in all actuality, you're looking at a few dollars.

We bring stuff into the scrap yard/recycler in either truck beds or 50gal barrels. The last load we brought in yielded about $700. The going rates around here are between 90 cents and $1.15 a pound for copper.

Edit: Rone's gonna kick my ass if I keep talking salvage in his podcast thread. Email me, brother, if you want to continue to talk shop.

Nah, man. Please go on. I sincerely adore threadjacks. Spice of life.

Back to the podcast, I was afraid that it would seem to congenial to hit the masses where it should, but after hearing a few responses, I think that they dug it because of the very familiar tone that came across on the podcast.

All told, there was a ton of information in the podcast about the book and the setting. Stuff I wasn't even aware of, as the main authors sealed themselves into a internet secure bunker with anti-signal devices in order to complete the book, only sending out proofs so the few trusted allies could check their mad typing against the status quo before mass publication/distribution date. I'm glad those guys are still alive and well enough to talk about it.

They really did go off the grid for months, didn't they? This was probably one of those projects where you give so much to the writing that it leaves you forever altered. Like when Dustin Hoffman needed therapy after Rain Man to snap him out of continuing to embody his character. Matt, Pat, and Hal likely believe that everyday reality is just an illusory layer of the mediaweb they're tapped into, and disbelieve the morning coffee they're slurping.

I truly appreciate your deep read on the episode, D. Thou rocketh mightily.

Shiny. There's a way to use a vise and a pipe to pull the cable through and strip off the plastic rather easily. If all else fails, do what electricians used to do back in the day: put it in a metal garbage can and pour some gasoline in. Add a lit match and salt to taste. The plastic melts and the copper doesn't. Mind the noxious chemicals and a visit from your friendly neighborhood firetruck though.

Episode Six of the Atomic Array podcast came out today, the first time I've ever actually got the thing out a day ahead of schedule.

We interviewed Luke Johnson, coauthor of New Gods of Mankind by Dark Skull Studios. It's an amazing game that lets you play as a god of your own devising, with, or against other gods, and the mortal realm is but your chessboard (or checkerboard, if ya like things simple).

We’re giving a copy of the setting book along with all three supplement books. Around a $150 value. Listen in to find out how to win.

We're still running that Interface-Zero cyberpunk giveaway so, as with the New Gods of Mankind giveaway, get creative and make a phone call to win.

We're also running a massive contest in conjuction with a few other gaming podcasts, giving away 10 $25 gift certificates from Noble Knight Games.

People really do win on Atomic Array (Then we just hunt them down and get all our stuff back).

"DO IT!" ;) I'd wish my friends would call and flex their creative muscles, but for all our subscribers, we get very few calls on these giveaways.

Thus, at this point, everyone's chance of winning is still exceedingly good.

I keep getting the "We're sorry, the number you have attempted to reach does not exist or has been disconnected" message when I try to call. I've emailed Ed, and he doesn't know what the hell is going on either.

I heard. That so completely sucks. Sorry, man.

We got other calls that came in fine, but your case makes me wonder if anyone else is experiencing the same sort of impasse.

The next contest you want to enter, please try again and let us know post haste if you're not getting through. If all else fails, just record your voice on your computer and email us the mp3 file. If the file is too large for your email program's capacity, just go to yousendit.com. That site allows you to send massive files for free and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Episode Seven of the Atomic Array podcast dropped today, and contrary to Ed's questionable joke on our website where he suggests, based on an in-show quip, that this is our last episode because I'm dumb, this is not our episode. He will be severely reprimanded -- forced to wear a suit made from peanut butter and then leap into a lagoon pool full of startled bears.

We interviewed James Maliszewski, author of Thousand Suns by Rogue Games. This space opera game setting is true to its roots, highly customizable and so skillfully penned I think just reading the rulebook may have made me a better writer.

What do I rant about in this episode? What can't I stand? Me. I go off on my own flaws worse than you ever could. Really. I'm challenging you to listen to my read down of self and then see if I missed anything.

We’re giving away two copies of the Thousand Suns setting book, so listen in and learn how to score one.

We also announce the winners of the Interface-Zero cyberpunk giveaway and the New Gods of Mankind giveaway.

We've got a comment area on our site. If you could spare the time and energy to let us know what you like and/or dislike about any given episode, we'd be grateful for the educational assist, and I'll even be willing to give you whatever's left of Ed at the bottom of that bear pool if you can get a pick-up truck, mop and tarp, over to the studio. Thanks. :)

Atomic Array, Episode 008, is out!

Featured Product: The Great City, from 0one Games
The Pick: The Memory of Earth
The Rant: 'Rone's Broken -dars...'

'Secret Code Contest' wrap-up.
TGC give-away begins.

Listen Now! Comments and link love welcome.

Episode Eight of Atomic Array podcast is out, and this one spotlights The Great City Campaign Setting, a book I, Tim Hitchcock, John Ling (aka Zherog), Lou Agresta, Brendan Victorson and Greg Oppedisano wrote for 0one Games. This book rode the Hot Sellers list at RPGnow in the top ten for over two weeks. If you know the Hot Sellers list you know usually only companies like WotC, White Wolf, and Monte Cook's stuff perch there for more than a few days, so The Great City showed some real staying power.

I stripped out the show's musical intro and replaced it with a new opening for this episode. A scene in the Great City. A speech given by its ruler to an unloving throng. That's what happens when you give me two turntables and a microphone. Zwit Zwit Zwit!.

We interviewed Tim, Zherog and Lou, and there was a decidedly fraternal feel to the show. Who would have thought an ongoing debate about urban poop disposal in a magical world would lead to an in-depth discussion about game design?

This episode's rant is "My Broken -Dars" and I share a few all too true, all too bizarre stories. If I gave you any of the details you'd want to listen, but foreshadowing would kill the thrill of the surprise so I'm zipping it.

Ed talks about Orson Scott Card's book The Memory of Earth

We announce the ten winners of $25 gift certificates to Noble Knight Games.

We’re still giving away two copies of the Thousand Suns setting book.

We're having a Great City Campaign Setting Giveaway and everyone who enters wins a free copy of the PDF. The two actual contest winners will each get a print copy of the book along with the first published adventure, A Pound of Flesh, written by Tim Hitchcock.

Yes, I know Ed already posted show notes, but mine are much longer, wider and more impressive to the ladies.

Pssst, Mr. Shiny. Still assembling demos and converting them into MP3s. The first stuff I dug up was not what I wanted to share first. Rock opera first. Mainstream stuff second. My unlabeled CDs are in two seperate rooms filling two shelves, and listening through each of the rough versions of these once in-process recordings makes me feel a twinge of discomfort not unlike Alex in Clockwork Orange when he hears Beethoven's Ninth, thus my lagging pace at getting this done. ;) BUT GET IT DONE I SHALL!

Did I mention everyone who enters the contest wins a free copy of the Great City campaign setting book on PDF? I did? Well then I'm mentioning it again.

"Are you straight?"
"I'm fine..."

1. I can't believe you told, rather let Tim tell, the pimp story from year before last.

2. Hitchcock owes me 34 cents for mentioning my name on the air.

3. Awesome show, as always, gentlemen. I felt this show really gave some good insight into the product and had some really great "making of" DVD extras. Just the kind of stuff I look for in a podcast, actually.

4. Keep up the rockin' work!

Thanks, D. :) This episode was the most fun to work on because I knew everyone involved.

Tim was wrong, that pimp had a tan suit on, not a white suit. I don't know why he made him sound like Mr. Roarke. The full account of the story is even worse. The pimp started talking about how his girlfriend works in (name of strip club I don't realize is a strip club) and how she won't give him what he needs... oh good god. He wanted me to give him what he needed. He wanted to snort me off his inch long coke nail. I didn't get to finish talking about how methy and black his gums were. Tim said he looked like a guy who recently came into money.

In merciful conclusion, Tim tired of the entertainment and finally stepped in to explain, "He's straight, man. He's straight."

"Well, look at it this way, Rone. He thought you were chicken. So you look young."

"Is that my silver lining here?"

"That's it, man."

I can't tell which part I liked better; hearing everyone discuss the hows and whys of their thoughts on the Great City or your stories about "All"dar.

Thanks! Every two weeks it comes time for me to think up a new rant, and for a few seconds I worry that I won't be able to keep it up. Then I realize that my absurd life experiences are supernumerary, and that my righteously critical outlook on so many things is simply hardwired. This sour well will never run dry. I may be a doofus, but I'm a mildly amusing doofus, so it's going on my resume!

I really love the Great City setting. What a blast it was, having a chance to add flesh to the bones that were Mario's maps. Lou Agresta and I just finished The Bloody Fix, the first of two adventures for the Great City campaign arc, The Road to Revolution. This will be my first published adventure, and so one in every one hundred copies sold includes a Golden Tonka Ticket, good for ten dollars worth of free toy trucks and a chance to visit my magical factory.

"I've got a golden ti-ckettttt... I've got a golden twinkle in my eyeeeeeeeeeeeee!"

Over the past few years, 0one Games has been regaling us with a series of exceptional city maps, laying out in minute detail The Great City. It's just been crying out for information about who lives there, what's going on and even some adventures to await visiting characters - and here at last is a campaign setting worthy of those map!

You get detailed descriptions of each Ward including notable NPCs, locations and adventure ideas, plus a full-blown adventure for 1st-level characters.

Overall, this product really brings The Great City to life, while providing enough about the layout that it should not pose a problem if you do not have the earlier maps. You'll probably want to get them if you decide to spend much time here - and after reading this, I for one want to do so! Apart from a few niggling mis-spellings that a good proof-read should have caught, presentation is good with clear maps which are an advance visually on those in the previous maps, yet of course fully-compatible with them. Definately recommended to anyone who likes city-based adventures, or whose campaign needs a well-designed city as a base or place to visit.

I think I sent my audio file to you guys via YouSendIt, but I have no idea if it actually got through. Could one of you guys get back to me at your convenience about whether you received it or not?

As an aside, the audio editing/importing program I used had a weird EQ-leveling function that automatically attempts to make one's voice sound *better*. As a result, it sounds like I injected myself with liquid essence of Barry White before I recorded myself. Sorry 'bout that, chief.

Atomic Array, Episode 009, is out!

Featured Product: Kobold Quarterly 007
The Pick: The City of Lost Children
The Rant: 'My Driveway'

1ks give-away wrap-up.
KQ give-away begins.

Listen Now! Comments and link love welcome.

In Episode Nine of Atomic Array , out today, we delve into Kobold Quartely (issue 7).

We talk to the Kobold-in-chief Wolfgang Baur, Richard Pett, and Ben McFarland directly, and preview many of the articles.

Wolf was a flawless interview... he's really good at this. Pett would have been as well if British Telelcom didn't cause people to sound like the little girl from Poltergeist. Mo-o-o-o-o-o-mmy..." Then again, knowing Spookster Pett, he probably just did that to unnerve us.

This episode's rant is "My Driveway" and it's certainly less ranting than usual, as I've come to terms with my imprisonment in my own home.

Ed fondly recalls the movie City of Lost Children

We announce the ten winners of the Thousand Suns giveaway and we tell you how reminiscing aloud about kobolds could get you some KQ store gift certificates this time 'round.

Episode Ten of Atomic Array podcast creeps in through your open window today and drives you mad! (That is, if my voice didn't drive you mad already.)

We spotlight Shadows of Cthulhu, a fantastic book that finally brings 1920's/30's era Cthulhu to the narrative strength of True 20 roleplay.

Halfway through the interview we got a very upsetting celebrity call in. Listen if you dare.

This episode's rant is "Animal in Peril Movies" and Ed talks about The Book of Dzyan.

Although everyone who entered our Great City Campaign Setting Giveaway won a copy of the PDF, we announce the three winners of the print version. I co-wrote this book, so it's unimaginably astounding.
