OH...the pain!

I like the sound of this Trey fella.

He's one good (owl) egg. The man would make a wise omelette.

Edit: This only makes sense if you recall his avatar.

I bet it's this one.

Good find... but I think his was more of a close-up. Hoo knew they were so many owlvatars available?

Ah, heck. I actually forgot that I switched from the close-up of the owl with the quill to this one. Neither, sadly, have a little green cap.

No matter. Even without a cap, in the city or in the woods, you help keep forum boards... lookin' good. Hoot hoot!

You're one sharp gorgon! Speaking of which, feel free to browse my wares. You may be interested in our latest recruit, a vampire sow named Bloody Bessie. Those midwest dames have a charm all their own, and Bessie can do things with her ice cold hooves that would make Pan himself blush.

Gave Armor Class, minus one.

And that mangy wolf is too darn slow to let us know there's a new episode available, again! ;p

What?! Atomic Array 55 is a double length episode?! Why would we do that?!

Because we needed to hear what Monte Cook, Ed Greenwood, Steven E. Schend, Brian Cortijo and mapmaker Christopher West had to say about their coming PF compatible adventure anthology, and what I had to say about my huge PF compatible adventure (coauthored with by Lou Agresta), Citadel of Pain.

Gaming Paper’s Erik Bauer, along with West, Cook, Greenwood, Schend and Cortijo join Ed Healy and I on Episode 55 of the Atomic Array podcast to preview this new line of Gaming Paper Adventures, a first foray into publishing from the company that won two silver ENnies in 2010 for “Best Miniatures Product” and “Best Aid or Accessory.”

At show’s end, listen in as I punk each of these legends of gaming. Methinks I’ll never work in this town again… which is actually great timing because I couldn’t afford the taxes anyway.

Enter our contest to win one of two copies of the Citadel of Pain adventure. I coauthored it and it is simply magnificent. I really can't say enough good things about it.

Just noticed that Atomic Array special episode 003 started downloading for me in itunes. Subject lines says something about Pathfinder Tales.

Spoiler:
Could we please cut back on the threads designed to push down trollish topics, it affects poor, innocent podcast threads as well.

I've been waiting to post anything about this latest mega-show (longest episode ever, and for good reason) because I didn't want to scoop tomorrow's Paizo blog. As you can imagine, I'm ITCHING TO TALK ABOUT IT.

So the big post I usually introduce each episode with is coming tomorrow. Watch the skies! (While we slip it past you at street-level)

Man, now I wish I hadn't listened to it already. ;)

Are you sure it's just not fleas, though?

Thanks, guys. I wanted to wait for the Paizo blog to talk about this episode but this show released on Saturday morning and I've got to say something before I hop a plane to the next Iron GM Regional Semi-Final or this episode will be the tree that falls in the forest that no one hears (which is clearly a ninja treant with an unusually low Dex).

Anyhoo...

What’s that? You want a Special Edition of Atomic Array solely devoted to the Pathfinder Tales novels and the craft of novel writing?! IS THAT WHAT YOU WANT?! TO SEE JAMES SUTTER, DAVE GROSS, HOWARD A JONES AND ROBIN D LAWS VOLTRON TOGETHER TO FORM SOME SORT OF... FICTRON?

Death’s Heretic (James Sutter)
Nobody cheats death. A warrior haunted by his past, Salim Ghadafar serves as a problem solver for a church he hates, bound by the goddess of death to hunt down those who would rob her of her due. Such is the case in the desert nation of Thuvia, where a powerful merchant on the verge of achieving eternal youth via a magical elixir is mysteriously murdered, his soul kidnapped somewhere along its path to the afterlife. The only clue is a magical ransom note, offering to trade the merchant’s successful resurrection for his dose of the fabled potion. But who would have the power to steal a soul from the boneyard of Death herself? Enter Salim, whose keen mind and contacts throughout the multiverse should make solving this mystery a cinch. There’s only one problem: The investigation is being financed by Neila Anvanory, the dead merchant’s stubborn and aristocratic daughter. And she wants to go with him.

Along with his uninvited passenger, Salim must unravel a web of intrigue that will lead them far from the blistering sands of Thuvia on a grand tour of the Outer Planes, where devils and angels rub shoulders with fey lords and mechanical men, and nothing is as it seems…

Prince of Wolves (Dave Gross)
For half-elven Pathfinder Varian Jeggare and his devil-blooded bodyguard Radovan, things are rarely as they seem. Yet not even the notorious crime-solving duo is prepared for what they find when a search for a missing Pathfinder takes them into the gothic and mist-shrouded mountains of Ustalav. Beset on all sides by noble intrigue, mysterious locals, and the deadly creatures of the night, Varian and Radovan must use both sword and spell to track the strange rumors to their source and uncover a secret of unimaginable proportions, aided in their quest by a pack of sinister werewolves and a mysterious mute priestess. But it’ll take more than merely solving the mystery to finish this job. For shadowy figures have taken note of the pair’s investigations, and the forces of darkness are set on making sure neither man gets out of Ustalav alive…

Plague of Shadows (Howard Andrew Jones)
The race is on to free Lord Stelan from the grip of a wasting curse, and only Elyana, his old elven adventuring companion and former lover, has the wisdom and reflexes to save him. When the villain turns out to be another of their former companions, Elyana and a band of ragtag adventurers must set out on a perilous race across the revolution-wracked nation of Galt and the treacherous Five Kings Mountains, bound for the mysterious Vale of Shadows. But even if they can succeed in locating the key to Stelan’s salvation in a lost valley of weird magic and nightmare beasts, the danger isn’t over. For Elyana’s companions may not all be what they seem.

The Worldwound Gambit (Robin D Laws)
In the foreboding north, the demonic hordes of the magic-twisted hellscape known as the Worldwound encroach upon the southern kingdoms of Golarion. Their latest escalation embroils a preternaturally handsome and coolly charismatic swindler named Gad, who decides to assemble a team of thieves, cutthroats, and con-men to take the fight into the demon lands and strike directly at the fiendish leader responsible for the latest raids—the demon Yath, the Shimmering Putrescence. Can Gad hold his team together long enough to pull off the ultimate con, or will trouble from within his own organization lead to an untimely end for them all?

Jade did anything ever become of that Pulp radio stuff, I had mentioned a long time ago?

I still haven't produced the radio play. Waiting on some celebs.

Last year or the year before I did a series of short radio plays to accompany certain Twilight Sector adventures for Terra/Sol games.

I recently did a 12 minute audio scene for them - kind of a Johnny Carson in the future sorta thang - that I thought came out quite nicely. Still waiting for its release.

Will do! :) Thanks for asking.

RPG author Ben McFarland (Terraleon on Paizo) did the voice of the show's host and I did all the other voices.

The last thing I did for Terra/Sol is a free product on RPGnow and stars me, Ed, Tim Hitchcock, Lou Agresta, MM Devoe and Susana Mensah. It was fun... though when I received the note that said (I also need a 30 second clip of the sound of a rising stone pedestal within an ancient temple" for the publisher's spacefaring game, I was worried. No problem... just lined up some cinder blocks on the ground and recorded myself dragging another cinder block over them. Then I slowed the speed and lowered the pitch and voila... rising pedestal.

Just listened to the show today; I was going to put it on CD for a friend who's looking for writing tips, but it's too long to fit on an audio CD. Is there a chance of seeing a 2-parter version?

I can probably hit that on Wednesday.

No problem. My email's also in my profile, disguised with spaces in to avoid phishing.

I may not end up needing it; I've sent a link to him, but I don't know if he has ITunes, uses an mp3 player, etc, so if he can listen on the move. I tried burning a CD, but it went over capacity. A DVD will easily accomodate an audio file, but will it play in a CD player? Hmmm.

It's something I thought may be worth an option for future episodes, for the benefit of Luddites who want to listen to a disc in the car, or such, when the programme goes over @70minutes.

If I knew anything about editing, I'd cut it up myself, but I don't want the sound to leak out the edges, yannow?

OK... just let me know if you're friend can get it via the atomicarray.com or Itunes. If not, I'll halve and send it.

Flash said he burned CDs onto disk, so when we go over CD capacity I always cringe and picture him there in Australia saying, "Great. Just great." ;)

The sound editing program I use takes as much time to "bounce" (export to disk) as it does to play. So It takes me 50 minutes a piece to bounce two seperate 50 minute tracks. Now because I tend to mix each episode RIGHT BEFORE it's due (we usually keep to a no-wiggle room schedule)I have no time to create second versions... just the full episode. But that said, with a few extra days I'm happy to halve any show and send it out upon request.

In answer to your thought, DVDs don't play in CD players.

But certain CD players support playing in mp3 format and if his can do so, you can play hours upon hours worth of audio beyond the 80 minute standard. Something he should look into.

The catch would be to burn it as a data CD versus an audio CD.

Now there's a savvy tip.

I agree. On a scale from one to savvy, he's two tiers above me. And I'm a pretty savvy guy.
