I wanted to see if their is any interest here in Seattle for a monthly gathering to play the Pathfinder modules once they get rolling after Gen Con. I will be at Gen Con and have signed up to play all of the modules, so I could start things off by DMing those interested. Once I see how much interest their is I'll look into reserving a spot at a game store to host our monthly gatherings most likely on either Friday or Saturday. And since we are in Paizo's backyard so to speak maybe we will get lucky and have one of them join us once in a while!!!
So whose interested????
Cheers,
Rob

Sovereign Court

Woot! Suggest you add this to the Paizo meetup site as well.

I would be interested. Then I can run them in Olympia...

So, that brings up the question of "Is there any interest in Olympia?"

We could check with Gabbie or do it at my place.

Sovereign Court Wayfinder, PaizoCon Founder

Sounds like a great idea! And yes, post that over at the Paizo Meetup site.

I guess I also know who to talk to for PFS volunteers for Paizocon II as well, huh? ;-)

I would be quite interested. I am also looking at perhaps running Pathfinder at the Seattle Mob Game Days -- so this would possibly be a monthly venue for games. In the Tacoma/Olympia area there is the Upright Citizens Coalition that might also be interested.

In addition to that I'm currently on the campaign staff for The Great River campaign. While this might not exactly be germane -- TGR is looking to move to the Pathfinder RPG.

//Off Topic: Timitius I have to thank you for showcasing The IT Crowd in your blog -- too funny!!

Season 2 seems even more hilarious. I wish I could get the DVDs in Region 1 format.

Also, thanks for joining the PaizoCon meetup group! 94 Members Strong!

I don't know if I count as a "Paizo person" since I only work for them on a contract/freelance basis, but I might be interested. Depends on time, place, blah blah blah... but it's a definite maybe. :)

Sign me up.

It's a bit of a commute, but doable on a once-a-month basis.

Sovereign Court

Yes! I may live two hours away from Seattle, but I'd do it! As for Olympia, I'm an hour away from there. So, I'd be interested in that as well.

Trent

Liberty's Edge

Well it seems we have a little interest here in Seattle(eight people so far), I'll start to look for a place to gather and let everyone know as soon as I find a spot.

thelesuit, please let me know about the Seattle Mob game days and what would be involved to hold it there once a month!

I will also post over at the Paizo Con meet up page to see if we can get more involved!

I'll also email Josh to see what is needed to get this thing rolling!

Tim, I would love to help organize for Paizo Con! You have my email so let me know anything I can start on to help get the ball rolling!

Any questions just post here or you can email me at reby43@yahoo.com
Please put in the heading something about Pathfinder, I get a lot of crap so I don't want to miss yours.

Cheers,
Rob

I would probably be interested in the Olympia version as well, when it doesn't conflict with my normal gaming group I run (every other saturday). I am pretty positive that Gabby would be up for us doing it at Olympic Cards and Comics as she has hinted I should run things there anyway.

Rob, running games at the Seattle Mob would be a matter of having a GM commit to run and asking for a table.

The Mob game days are on the 2nd Saturday of every month (except August -- as the Mob is supporting Dragonflight) at Genesis Games & Gizmos in Redmond.

Here is the link to the Mob web site.

I'm definitely interested.

Scarab Sages

OOOooo...

I'm moving to Seattle in September, and would totally be interested in this!

Liberty's Edge

I was at Games and Gizmos on Sat and they have a nice size playing space we could use, not much in the Pathfinder products though. They were busy so I just looked around. I did have another thought though since it seems we have a lot of interest from the south is to play in Tacoma at the Game Matrix. They have a huge space to play games and it would be closer for those to the south for a monthly gathering?

Just a thought, tell me what you think! I might go down there next weekend, its been awhile since I have been down there to see what Pathfinder products they have...

Tacoma's actually easier for me to get to than Seattle. My only objection is that, when you say "Game Matrix", it sounds like "Gay Matrix" and I'll have trouble convincing the missus that it's okay for me to go there to play with people I met on the internet.

Liberty's Edge

I am interested. Especially if it is Seattle or north of Seattle.

Third Place Books commons in Lake Forest Park has a room off to the side of the food court that works well for several tables of games.

That would be awesomely convenient for me, I live maybe three minutes from there.

Actually, I'm looking for two players for a Pathfinder Society game I'm going to run, and meeting at the TPB in LFP would be great. Anyone who might be interested shoudl email me at madness237@hotmail.com

TPB has a nice space -- but not a lot of access to power (electrical outlets) for those of us who can't GM without their laptops.

We could have two gatherings a month, one in Seattle area(Games and Gizmos) and one more south at The Game Matrix! It would give people a better chance to attend at least one and give people who dm a chance to advance their own characters too. Whats everyone think?

I would like to keep the gatherings at a game store though, first to help support our local game stores which would bring in more products for us to buy and second, help generate more people in playing Pathfinder Society games and Paizo games in general by seeing us there once a month playing and talking about it. I think this is important for the growth of Paizo and its Pathfinder games. It would be nice to see a big Pathfinder area in the game stores instead of having to search for or ask where they keep Pathfinder products that are tucked away somewhere.

Just my thought for now!

The Game Matrix web site is

I am going to start up Seattle Pathfinder Society Yahoo group soon to help with us getting together!

Well, if we run at Genesis Games & Gizmos we could integrate with the Seattle Mob. On the plus side they already have a time, place, and yahoo group. And they have a bunch of folks who are going to be coming off of Living Greyhawk and looking for something to play (unless they go the 4E route with the new Living City-thing). They also have a muster site for signing-up for games at the GD.

On the minus side, it is on the Eastside (though Metro accessible) and it is at an established venue which might detract from the Pathfinder-centric vibe. The muster site is also kind of a pain in the butt and requires having an RPGA number to use.

I guess first we would need to know what their plans are for the future, either Pathfinder or 4th edition? Also the requirement of having a rpga number might be problematic for some people who do not have one, depends on how Paizo sets up their system for game play!

The Seattle Mob's plans are pretty mutable (and/or undefined). They (and I should really say we, as I'm one of the "Dons") just want to support gaming in the Seattle area. At a Mob Game Day there are folks playing Kalamar, LG, Eberron, and sometimes weird local shared campaigns like The Great River. There is no plan to have all of the Mob games move any particular direction (toward 4E or somewhere else). We will support what ever folks want to play. Actually more to the point, we will support anything someone wants to GM!

The RPGA number thing is somewhat a pain in the butt. It really only matters if you want to use the Mob Muster Site to coordinate tables. And they only need the RPGA number to support the dbase back-end. The data entry is done locally -- so it isn't something that is forwarded anywhere, and an RPGA number is pretty easy to get. On the other hand, I've run plenty of games at the GD that didn't use the Muster Site -- so RPGA numbers weren't an issue.

The July Mob Game Day is this Saturday in Redmond -- as SR520 is going to be closed, getting there is going to be more of a challenge. But I encourage folks to check out the store and plethora of nerds at play.

CJ

I’m pretty sure the GSL prohibits groups from playing both 4e AND 3.5-compatible games.

KIDDING!!

Honestly, if it were put to a vote, I’d vote for the Game Matrix. I could get there in an hour vice the two hours it would take to get to either Redmond or Olympia where the current RPGA clubs play. (Can someone tell me why the Seattle Mob doesn’t play in Seattle and the Upright Citizens Coalition of Tacoma doesn’t play in Tacoma? What’s up with that?)

That’s entirely out of self interest, but that’s my vote.

Liberty's Edge

Is the game day tomorrow or next sat., the web page says July 12th but its under July 19th? If your going to be there maybe we could chat a bit about setting things up here!

I would be available to do both so lets go with two game days so it gives more people a chance to play. I'll set both up and let you know when the first date is. I need to visit Games Matrix anyway, its been awhile and i'll talk with them about setting up something!

The game day is always the 2nd Saturday of the month -- so tomorrow. I won't be at the GD, but I can put in an appearance at around 3pm or so.

The Seattle Mob has played at nearly a dozen locations during its "life". Everywhere from Bellevue, to the U-District, to the WoTC cafeteria. We are at 3G because it has space for 36+ gamers on a monthly basis and doesn't cost us anything. I don't know of any FNGS in Seattle that can offer that. If I did, I would certainly advocate us moving. The only other place that comes close is Fantastic Games in Lynnwood -- which is where the Seattle and Eastside D&D Meetup Groups play.

CJ

Sovereign Court Wayfinder, PaizoCon Founder

I live a couple blocks away from 3G, so that's a no-brainer for me! ;)

Yet, I have a good group of friends down in the Puyallup area that I used to game with that I am fairly sure that I could get to play Pathfinder Society modules once a month at Game Matrix.

I'm also VERY interested in getting a Pathfinder Society event scheduled for Norwescon 32 in April 2009. VERY.

Rob, you are more than welcome to use the Meetup Space in all its scheduling glory to arrange Pathfinder Society meetups. We can see about adding you to the Assistant ranks....

RPGA is a totally separate thing from Pathfinder Society. We will not need an RPGA number but we may need some kind of number or something. All this should be clear after GENCON.

Shem wrote:

I guess I didn't explain very well. The Seattle Mob uses RPGA numbers for their local muster site data base -- that is all. Even if we were to consider playing at the Seattle Mob at their Game Day (on the 2nd Saturday of every month) we would NOT be constrained to using the Mob's muster site -- unless we wanted to. We could certainly use any other method we desire. Using the Mob Muster Site would be for convenience only. Sorry I didn't explain very well.

I have no doubt that the Pathfinder Society will need some method of tracking things/people/events and such.

Are we still in a holding pattern pending an announcement of how in-store events will work?

I haven't seen anything saying when we can expect to be able to schedule such an event. Did I miss it?

Paizo and an email from Josh said they would have all the info needed around Aug. 1st. Once I get that info I can start setting things up for us. I got called into work on both my days off so I did not get a chance to go to either game store but next weekend should be no problem for me to go and check it out and talk to someone about space for us to play monthly. So hold tight just a bit longer.

Zootcat
Sean Mahoney

If anyone else is interested please post here!

Also please post which place you'd most likely play at so I can get a count for each, The Game Matrix in Tacoma or Games and Gizmos in Redmond, or both.

I'm going to be running the CotCT in a couple of weeks, but wouldn't mind extra gaming. I live in downtown Redmond, so Games and Gizmos is pretty close (I go by there every Saturday after our game for minis).

Lilith wrote:

I agree. And I mean that.

For the sake of official record, I'm coming from Silverdale and would prefer the Game Matrix.

I'm honestly looking forward to playing in a Paizo adventure. I've seen how fun they *can* be, but don't have anybody on this side of the Sound willing to run them for me.

Liberty's Edge

It looks like there's going to be a lot of players available here in Seattle, enough for several groups.

I'm going to be looking to start a Pathfinder Society home game right after GenCon, and I'll have space for two to four players. I'm based in Bothell, pretty close to the Third Place Books (about 6 minutes from there), so if any of you in the north end -- Rob, Lori B -- would be interested, drop me a line.

Rob, I already got your email, and I've got it saved away for when I'm closer to getting started. I'm still waiting for the Pathfinder society home rules to get released, and then I'll be sending out emails. But since I tend to go first come first served when I start campaigns, its not a bad idea to get a hold of me early if a Friday or Saturday Society game in the North End sounds appealing to you.

Shem wrote:

Sorry Shem, that isn't what I meant. I think she is just interested in anyone running anything, not me in particular. Go for it!!!

GB,
I sent you an e-mail.

Others,
Is there enough interest to get a couple of tables of games going for monthly Society games at Third Place Books? Since these are about 4 hour one-shot games (AFAIK), there could be opportunity to rotate players and DM's from month to month.

I'm on the eastside, so 3G is closer for me. But I can always drive over the bridge if need be. Tacoma is a bit of a hike.

I have yet to actually run any of the Pathfinder adventures I already have, but I'm sure I'll figure out a way to sneak into one of these Seattle area groups if I don't run one myself. I'll have my familiar monitor this forum for signs of organization.

Once LG wraps up, I'm planning on focusing on Pathfinder Society. There are at least 3-4 people up here in Bham who have expressed interest in judging Society adventures.
