Is there going to be a Paizo presence at DragonCon?

One can only hope. I think in the past, they have not been at DragonCon. With their staff headed to GenCon UK, in Europe, perhaps Atlanta isn't too much to ask.

I just double-checked the DragonCon website's link for the Dealers and Exhibitors (http://www.dragoncon.org/dc_dealers.php), and Paizo will not, unfortunately, be there in any official capacity.

I would love for them to come down here and see us (yes - I keep begging), but I know they have to pick and choose their conventions carefully. Since GenCon is the main gaming convention, they have to be there to ensure that the word gets out about Pathfinder.

I will, however, remain hopeful for a 2010 appearance... ;)

Sadly, while Dragon*Con is a really fun show, the dealer's room never fails to disappoint from a sales perspective. I think the con gives people *too much* to do! That said, while I don't see Paizo having a presence in the dealer's room anytime soon, hopefully we can have a good Pathfinder Society showing there....

Dragon*Con may sadly be out of our reach this year. While we'd love to be able to send volunteers to run official PFS at every con imaginable, we need to perfect our processes first in Season 0 (our playtest season) before we can spread our wings and fly to every major convention on Earth.

Rest-assured, I want a presence at Dragon*Con 2009 as we launch Season 1 and the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. By then, our processes will be solidified and it'll be much easier for us to get our volunteer corps mobilized for a Dragon*Con assault.

Word! Next Year! DRAGONCON SHALL BE BESIEGED BY PATHFINDERS!!!

What if random Pathfinder volunteers are going to be at Dragon*Con anyway? Is there any way you might be able to put us to work?

That's a good question. Can you ask it again around August 1? :-) I'll have a better idea of what we can do around that time.

Will do!

After posting the above, I've received two official requests from OP folks at Dragon*Con to run PFS events there. Paizo won't be there, but you can bet someone will be running the Gen Con PFS scenarios there!

Excellent news! looking forward to the specifics!

I usually judge some at DragonCon, and the judge recruitment emails did have Pathfinder listed, so I assume they're going to try to run some Pathfinder there...

I'd be interested in offering to judge some Pathfinder at DragonCon, but have only recently discovered its existence and am not sure what I'd need to know to run it. I understand that for 2008, the Pathfinder adventures will still be using standard OGL 3.5 rules, so that much is easy. Is there background material on the setting available somewhere to get familiar with? Sourcebooks with expanded options for feats/prestige classes and such?

the area that the pathfinder society stuff happens in isn't all that fleshed out yet in the world. Most of the information so far for the society itself is on this page

other useful links:
The blog- Has lots of little tidbits about the world and the society.

The Fan Wiki is a nice quick resource for some of the world information (we are working on keeping it up to date but we could use more help)

We were told that on Aug 1st to expect player and DM guides to the society at large.

So this is me asking after August 1...

I'll see if I can't post the contact information for the OP folks at Dragon*Con who are running the events.
