I meant Lee.

You're not a grognard. I bet you never had to wax your own dice.

You rugrats had it easy, with your ready-made novel lines and proper miniatures. I bet you never had plastic Normans fight an otyugh made of Blu-Tac.

Is this your new PC concept? The human jack-in-the-box, to pop up in all my threads?

As far as stuff for me to be involved in, just whatever is going on in the game. You've got my character backhistory and whatnot. I'd really just rather let the events unfold.

That said, if you're looking to advance the story but not necessarily huck us out into another long combat, now might not be a terrible time for a social encounter of some sort. Lots of opportunity for it. We are mucking up parliament after all.

I think mostly it's just a matter of people getting posts up. I'm looking forward to some banter.

If it's in electronic format, I've added my e-mail address to my main profile (in code to stop the inevitable spammers). I've no need for Viagra or penis extensions (or so I'm told).

If it's physical copies, let me know the weight, as I'm in the UK, and postage from Texas won't be cheap.

Pete Apple managed to give me a good deal on a box of Living Greyhawk stuff <salivate>. But since then, I heard the USPS had cancelled all overseas surface mail; is that right?

Did too - red box!

Hah! I started playing well before the Moonshaes novel. And we used imagination in our day - no bloody miniatures for us!

This has always been my modus operandi - you're just getting paranoid now you're going to be the DM :-)

I'll only pop up when it suits... you have been warned :-)

Matt

EDIT: apologies for the threadjack - it's all Bob's fault

Sent both adventures, in Microsoft Word format. RttToH isn't quite complete, but it's a solid start, I think.

Happy gaming! P.S. If the rod adventure is up your alley, I've many other original ones as well.

(EDIT: Just reread the first part of that last sentence, in light of your assertions regarding spam. Absolutely no sexual innuendo intended, I assure you.)

I've bumped Hellard to 4th level, assuming he gained some XP from the zombies, and to bring him more into line with the others. That knocks his Con up to 16, which is where I'd wanted it to begin with.
S'okay?

No worries at all. Do what you're comfortable with.

If your 'Rod' is up my alley, then I've bigger fish to worry about!

I've had a quick read of the files; this is awesome! So much bigger and better than I expected. Headers and footers on each page! And I never got the knack of that 'double-column' layout.

And you have Zoogs!

Hey guys,

I just wanted to remind everyone that I am going out of town for a few days starting tomorrow. Depending on if the hotel in San Diego has wireless internet, I may not be able to post from the 23rd to the 27th.

Gotta have Zoogs! And if your players are inclined to scoff at children's books, the Mad Tea Party can make Gygax's version look tame in comparison (when I ran this adventure, the bard played his mandolin to fascinate while everyone else spiked their tea with potions of sanctuary, and everyone had a nice time instead of a major bloodbath).

Hey Paly...me going all Norse Mythology with Riven isn't going to muss up your realm is it?

Obviously i'm going for the whole viking aspect here.

Also how is the whole XP thing going to work? Are you just going to tell use when to raise a lvl?

Just curious haven't really done a PBP before. But this if fun! So much more fun than my normal group I have! Too many newbies in my home group. You would not believe the things they don't pick up on.

...Rant...
So they are doing the ROtRL, 2nd Chapter, just killed Aldern and got the keys...they know he's a noble from Magnimar, has told them to look him up some time in Magnimar (from the first chapter) and yet when I finally get them to Magnimar they want to find a key maker to find out what the keys are too!!!! Arrrrrrrgh!

No, not at all. Make up what you like, this is just a 'homebrew' setting so it can stand to be added to.

Azoun The Sage wrote:

The answer: You go up a level when you think you do (not exactly 'I kill a bunch of stuff and get enough xp', but 'I've reached a point where something has changed...I'm a different kind of person for it'). Think of it as a TV show... when the character reaches a 'development point', they might learn from it and level up. For example, think of Xander after the episode 'The Zeppo' or Wesley in that episode of Angel where he pretends to be Angel and gets his girlfriend... he becomes more confident (and actually more capable... he stops dropping things, putting axes into walls etc and starts being the one who organizes the Angel Investigations Team).

Azoun The Sage wrote:

Perhaps the keymaker made a copy of the key a few years back after one got lost or dropped... he knows it's the key to Aldern's townhouse and gives them the address?

Andoran

OK, cool...thanx.

On a related note; I've been using a Church loosely based on Catholicism and the Inquisition, since there was no pantheon suggested, and the low-fantasy feel seemed to suggest a more real-world model.

I don't know if any of you are practicing Catholics, but I want to state that Thomas' lack of piety, and his distrust of church heirarchy are not a dig at anyone here, or meant to attack modern practicioners. It simply seems like an interesting period of history, ripe with story possibilities.

Being somewhat of a cosmology-lover I wonder if I might not want to tackle a cosmology section for the wiki. That way we're all on the same page, and people have fun bits of mythology and whatnot to reference without necessarily having to cram together a bunch of less-fantasy feeling real world lore.

Anyway I think I'll probably throw something up. Feel free everybody to alter whatever you want, or add stuff here and there. I'm just one of those folks who likes his fantasy with a little bit of real world garnish--rather than his real world lore with a little fantasy garnish.

Hopefully this'll give people stuff of a similar flavor to actual lore but still keep everything nice and fantasy feelin'.

Maybe if I get the time, I'll detail the nuances of Lily's affliction, too. Perhaps it's only a certain type of critter that is capable of causing this "infection." I'll leave that part up to you.

I'd imagined she was hearing voices from the Far Realm (like the HPL story where the guy invents a machine that lets him see into it); something like that would drive anyone a bit mad...

I'm having fits trying to add images to the cosmology section. Apparently there's been an upgrade to the version of Acrobat Reader you need to have to upload images now. So I've got some great images that unfortunately I can't add. Anyway if anyone else can help to spruce up what I've written, wants to add anything of their own, or just wants to talk ideas, I'd love to hear it. Go take a look.

The New Cosmology Section

Male Human Paladin 4/Moral Compass 3/Master GM 1 (ex-Retail Ninja 2)

Umm. Acrobat Reader? I'm confused. No wait, I think you're confused. (Yay! Serenity quote!)

You can just add images by clicking on the 'Easy Edit' button, then click on "photo". There's an option to add one from a url address or from your home computer.

Then again, maybe I'm misunderstanding.

Sweet. Thanks. That solved the problem I was having. Love the new images by the way. Added a few of my own and swapped some things around. Glad you guys like it. Looks like my Ebishmon article could use some editorial lovin. I like the content, but you can definitely tell it was late when I wrote it. Words used too many times, double adjectives that mean the same thing. Oh well.

Anyway I sort of like the idea of Ebishmon as kind of a combination Dante Allegri/King Solomon/Joseph Smith kinda' guy. I like the flavor. Hopefully it fits with the notions of a deeply devout church with some serious ambiguities surrounding it.

Anyway as we run into more stuff I'll add on to what we've got.

Male Human Paladin 4/Moral Compass 3/Master GM 1 (ex-Retail Ninja 2)

Grimcleaver, we're waiting for your input on the current "article up for debate" over on the game thread. I will post soon, but I'm waiting for everyone to get to weigh in.

Will you be using the Lankhmar city map?

The reference to the Street of the Gods, and the use of the city-block geomorphs for the Parliament fight set off my radar.

If so, I've got a copy, in fact I may even have two! If it makes it easier to describe things, then that's good.

I do have the old Lankhmar boxed set, but right now, I'm not using it as any kind of canon, just as bits and pieces. And yes, you may get some dangerously untested new magitech... like Chaos Bombs. they're fun!

Sorry to hear about your troubles, Snorter, no worries.

Paladin at some point we need to nail down exactly how Darius' dagger and the magic bullets work. I would like to get your input on this so that when Darius does finally use the pistol it wont screw up the plot or anything. And I can keep player and character knowledge separate, just because you and I know how the items work, that doesn't mean Darius will automatically know.

I made the comment about deferring to everyone's experience, since I'll be away for two weeks, after tomorrow night, so I expect everyone will just do what they like, anyway.

Hmmm, maybe that had a bearing on the result...:)

nah! Darius' dislike for Hellard is so great right now he would disagree with any suggestion he might make right now just on pricepal.

M Goblin Beer Snob 1/Freethinker 3

Hellard, unperceptive as always, has absolutely no idea that Darius doesn't love and admire him. (Mostly he's hoping to avoid a duel with Riven for the time being -- a cut from Riven's sword would totally ruin the cut of his suit!)

Male Human Paladin 4/Moral Compass 3/Master GM 1 (ex-Retail Ninja 2)

Or perhaps totally cut the suit of his ruin?

Male Human Ranger 4

Speaking of which, have I managed to bathe, change clothes, and fetch my swords yet? Or can I send someone to get them? (Where's Wurzel when you need him...). I didn't want to be hauling bastard swords into Parliament, but now I'm really starting to feel naked without them... Especially because almost everyone I've tried to charm with my superior charisma now wants me dead!

Osirion

Male Humanoid(Gamer)

I don't think we have had a chance to clean up yet, we went straight from parliament to the watch station to meet with the watch-commander.

Darius needs to go back to his boarding room and get his armor and rapier as well. And needs a chance to reload his pistol with dry powder.

M Goblin Beer Snob 1/Freethinker 3
Snorter wrote:

Just to clarify, Hellard is probably a bit sore about it, but that has absolutely nothing in the world to do with my feelings on the matter. Hellard would have tried very hard, but ultimately probably been an abject failure. He'd be a much better "face" for the party, I think.

Hey Paladin,
I was just going to post Darius's actions before getting to the watch house.

He is going to concoct a little protection talisman/fetish/whatever (two if he has enough materials, that way he can choose one other person to give it to) to "protect the wearer from evil spirits". I'm thinking a small leather bag with a bunch of herbs and other spell components stuffed into it, like you see in a lot of tv/movies. It will be up to you, of course, if they actually have any protective qualities.
