While I'm not in any way complaining (both becuase I don't see a problem, and I don't qualify for a., since I'm not DMing, I do have an idea that would be very cool for the volunteers if it could be implemented in the future. It might even get me to consider DMing instead of playing at a future Gen Con. I think it would be a really great reward if the Gen Con DMs could have the opportunity to have the PFS events round zeroed for them by a "celebrity" DM, i.e. a Paizo staff member of well known contributor. At a past Gen Con, I was very happily surprized that one of the RPGA events I had signed up for had none other than Skip Williams as the DM for my table. Not only did he do a great job (turned a sub-par adventure into a fun time), but I got a kick out of having one of the creators of 3E run a game for me.

I don't know how many DMs are involved with the Paizo events, but there's a lot of Paizo staff - probably enough to each run a table and cover all the volunteer DMs.

While I love this idea, we're not there yet as a company. Comparing us to the RPGA isn't fair because (A) we haven't started yet and (B) they're owned and operated by Wizards of the Coast, a company several orders of magnitude larger than us in every respect. Someday we'll be able to afford to shut down our entire publishing operation for a week to send our entire staff to Gen Con to run slot 0 events and spend additional time interfacing with our volunteer community, but this year (and probably next year) are not the years for that.

Great idea, though. I'll keep it in mind.

For what it's worth, I have thought for a while that a strong celebrity presence running tables at cons would create an exodus of players to the PFS from other offerings. Not sure about 4e, yet? Play the 3.5ish Pathfinder game and your table might be run by Liz Stevens or Richard Pett!

Staff doing slot zeros would make me happy as a DM and volunteer. Staff doing tables for players might really appeal to players who haven't noticed Pathfinder yet.

But, hey. Keep doing what you're doing and you'll be my company of choice. I know I'm not the only dude that feels that way.

I might add that the hotels are nearly three times more expensive than what Lilith quoted, but it really doesn't matter.

She said $45 a night for 1/4 of a room - or $180 a night. GenCon hotels aren't $500 a night. I think you must have misread her post.

Is young master Sutter (the Render) going to be there this year?

I must have.

The rest of my post still stands.

Yup.

Honestly, I'm not looking for cash. I'm there to have fun, and to learn some things to make me a better DM.

It might be nice to see my name in a thank you list in a Paizo publication related to PFS, but I'm not going to hold out for that.

Oh and I would like to meet some of the people who post to the boards. My wife and I always like to chat with new people at Gen Con. She's a VIG for the first time this year and is excited about all the things going on. She was impressed that Paizo was sponsoring the VIG lounge.

I'm there as a Tier 2 volunteer.

I'm DMing 3 sessions of a PFS Scenario, and running Titanic Games on Sunday afternoon, all of which I will enjoy.

I still have time to play in all of the other PFS Scenarios, Ass of the Drow, the RPGA Open, the DCC Open, and Life-sized Kill Dr Lucky.

And for this, Paizo is covering my Con Badge and providing me some product (probably the Beta rules).

Sounds pretty flipping spiffy to me!!

I'm betting this one would be a big draw in and of itself. ;)

I didn't know Paizo was sponsoring the VIG lounge. How perfect. I'm a first-time VIGer as well and I'll hope to chat with you and the missus there!

I suggested this to Logue in an e-mail, but for the Tier 1 guys who won't get any PFS slots to play, and even then only one game not slot 0 every single game lol. Personally I'm slot 0ing both games I'm running ASAP so I have maximum time to read and prep them.

I just don't want you to make this event the butt of your bad jokes.

As long as you're not cheeky about it, it's all in good fun.

I can't imagine the event organizers are exactly over the moon about it though.

Some of these puns are truly heinous.

Another "benefit" of volunteering is what it does to your sense of humour. Before spending Origins with Messrs Frost, Mona, Logue et al, I was a quiet, serious, studious type, who wouldn't dream of posting a bad pun.

Look upon your works, ye mighty, and despair.

GenCon UK now has a number of "Sell-outs" for Pathfinder Society games. It's a shame to turn players away.

If anyone fancies running the mods at Gen Con I believe they may open up more tables. You can see which slots are Sold Out on the Events > By Type > Pathfinder menu link.

Just email the Kithran, the (very efficient) organiser and maybe he'll squeeze you in as an extra DM.

Then bring 6 mates along to play ...

Indeed. I believe that Kithran has looked at how many GMs have volunteered and reduced the number of available tickets accordingly so that there are enough GMs to cover all the tickets issued. (see http://www.consupport.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1112&#4758)

I'm sure there's the physical space for more tables - it's just a matter of confirmed GMs to run them!

The poster is new to the messageboards and was unsure where to apply to be a GM for GenCon 2016. S/he has been pointed in the right direction.

Welcome to the ranks of GMs, Morthosxeex. See you at GenCon!
